Yes, I know the hymn you are referring to. The melody of that hymn was adapted from the hausa song I'm referring to. I also know another version of that hymn that goes:

When we call you Lord,
Have mercy on us,

Harken to our cry
And answer all our prayers

I'm searching for anybody who remembers the name of the hausa song.

That hausa song was always played at Nigerian Independence Day parades, Remembrance Day parades and Bala Miller also sang it on an edition of his show.
