PSC is on the side of per state while The committee chair on police is on the side of per LG

Even if Nigerian practice "community policing" as he referred to, the rank and file can equally be deployed to serve in any part of the country. So local gov't as the basis for selection is just trash. The PSC should just adhere to the Federal character principle of state as the basis for selection for equal representation. Local government? President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the suspension of the recruitment exercise into the police to resolve the clash between the Senate and the Police Service Commission (PSC). Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim, said during a briefing at the National Assembly Complex yesterday that while the Senate wants the recruitment based on nine persons per local government, the PSC prefers equality of states as criterion. Ibrahim explained that the position of the Senate was informed by the need to ensure that more policemen are recruited from states with higher population pointing out that even the policy of community policing would be better enhanced if policemen are recruited from the most rural areas in local government councils. The committee chairman hinted that the insistence of the Police Service Commission that the recruitment be based on equality of states made resolution of the crisis difficult, adding that this was why the President waded into the matter by halting the recruitment. According to him, the matter would be resolved when the President returns from Germany next week. Also, the president has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to return the N10 billion it seized from the National Broadcasting Commission back to the commission’s account. The money, which was part of the proceeds from the sales of spectrum made by the past administration, was seized by EFCC in March 2016. Director General of NBC, Modibbo Kawu, who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday while briefing journalists on the International Conference for African Broadcasters (AFRICAST) billed for October 18 2016, said that NBC is working towards getting the money to fast track the digitization process. Kawu noted that Nigeria is ready to use the digital revolution as a major starting point for revolutionary approach to employment in the country. He added that the president knows that the Digital Switch Over is a very important process and very critical to Nigeria’s economic success. Senator Ibrahim said: “Recruitment? Honestly, it has to be suspended for two obvious reasons. First, lawmakers agreed that this recruitment must be done per local government. “And the reason for that is that we are poised to give emphasis to community policing. The local governments are the smallest recognised unit by the constitution. So, nine per local government will form the nucleus for this community policing per local government. The obstacle was equality of states. “Some people felt that it is not representative of federal character. No cadre will undergo any interview get that one right. this issue has nothing to do with ASPs but inspectors and constable cadres. the only thing now is that if the issue with two cadres are not resolved it will affect ASP but am sure of this they will paste the final list soon as buhari will lift up the suspension.

Pls this is not an info, I didn't get it anywhere rather than my personal thought. looking at the numbers allocated per cadre, I think 9 per LGA will only work for constables having got the highest number of all the cadres. there are 774 LGA in Nigeria and the total number of potential recruited officers for constables is 7500 so, if each LGA produces 9 officers then we have 6966 in total which means it can also be more than 9 so this is feasible but for ASPs and inspectors is not possible cos the number for both is 500 each therefore it will be per state while specialists is 1500 for their asp, inspc and cons which can not be possible using LGA basis too but per state. I stand to be corrected, its just my personal thought.

when we went for aptitude test I saw pasted list of asps&inspec for specialist while I didn't bother to look for constables who are specialists but am sure their list was pasted too. so is 500 per cadre for the specialists too. why should they cut it down? 500 each for both asps and inspec GD plus 7500 for constables GD that amount to 8500 while specialist 1500 across all cadres making 10,000 all together

if you read initial modality for the selection , I mean when the form first came out, it was stated that Asps and inspc will be per state while only constables will be per LGA, don't just know why psc decided to do everything per state. per LGA basis will only work for constables can never work for other cadres except they increase the number

for those of you who thinks the senate has the final say; is like saying your mother has authority over your dad. in kitchen, on bed, yes, but that were your mom belong anyway!
the president has the final say. he waded because of his trip to Germany. applicant will be in camp on or before the 2nd week of November! like I have always said; am not Abu Ibrahim or Okiro, so unless something happen, you can just go to sleep and wake up November.
