Nigerian Nollywood actress Funke Akindele in an interview with Hip TV shared her opinion on Nigerians using foreign accents when you are not raised abroad.
She urge Nigerians to be authentic and stop mimicking the British and Americans,

"A lot of us want to sound like the British, we forget our culture, our country and accent, we are under a common law, the English law, we can speak good English, pronounce properly. but i don't believe in all this foreign accents. When you are not born or raise in UK, you want to be British, when you are not born and raised in America, you are trying to be American. Just be you" she said.

A customer care agent called from Jumia on Saturday, I did not understand half of what she was saying.
Sometimes back I saw a lady that graduated from my school on TV she was a presenter on one of this entertainment stations, the way she was speaking eh..... like has spent all her years in the US, I had to call my brother to know if it was her or some one else

I believe the Foreign accents we Nigerians are using in becoming default, not all should be described as "Fake", some times, my friends complains of my accent when I speak, when I don't do it intentionally, this is all because of the too much movie i watch..
