frodobee: That Antonio's speech was exceptional . Flawless oratory skills, enough to sweep Cleopatra off her feet. More than enough to incite the Roman citizens to attack the coup plotters. Marcus Antonius - General and Politician rolled into one. Respect. 1 Like |

Mindfulness I didn't even know I was mentioned here. I just checked my mentions this morning and I'm seeing important mentions. I read some shakespeare books, but that was because I loved reading then. I can't recollect their names now, but one had to do with Taming a shrewd wife, another was about a pound of flesh, then there was hamlet and then there was this one about Macbeth and one scheming wife like that. Tbh, most of these descriptions are probably about one book and I'm just jumbling it all I was a science student so I wasn't exposed to voracious literature reading per se. I did read voraciously, but they were mainly newspapers, motivational/inspirational and then religious books, including the bible, oh and then, I read books that have a lot to do with my chosen path, career wise. Don't laugh o 1 Like |

MizMyColi: I have been missing you. I hope all is well? I read some shakespeare books, but that was because I loved reading then. There is a film adaption of the 'Taming of the Shrew' starring the young Elizabeth Taylor. I haven't watched it yet but it's on my list. I love this actress. Hamlet is a good read. It's a story of a young man not knowing which way to go and trying to come to terms with family conflicts. I think it's something most young people experience. Macbeth is cool. To me, its deepest message is that no human being is either good or bad and that a perpetrator can be a victim at the same time. 'Fair is foul and foul is fair.' LOL Tbh, most of these descriptions are probably about one book and I'm just jumbling it all You did a good job. I was a science student so I wasn't exposed to voracious literature reading per se. I did read voraciously, but they were mainly newspapers, motivational/inspirational and then religious books, including the bible, oh and then, I read books that have a lot to do with my chosen path, career wise. I read most of the books mentioned in my free time. You should give African literature a try. I think you will enjoy it. I absolutely and passionately love it. I have the feeling that 'Night Dancer' by Chika Unigwe would be the perfect choice for you. It's the story of a young woman who tries to make peace with her mother post-mortem and with the life her mother lived. It has a very interesting story line and you will fall in love with the female characters. The girl learns very important lessons of which one is that people try to do their best at a given time to the best of their ability even if we consider their choices wrong. 1 Like |

Mindfulness: Darling I'm fine o I have missed you too It comes with the territory for me though. I tend to go under after periods of hyperactivity till something Spurs me to get my game back on again. Per those books, thank God I didn't flop o I can't even remember some of their storylines. *rolls eyes* Mindy, if I tell you I will read literature anytime soon, I'd be lying o I have a physical, literal living one that I have to study and read and help make sense out of Life as we know it. Y'know... I once heard someone say that expecting is the easiest part, after that, there's no more you...I mean, as much as I'm prepared to give my ALL, I'd still like to have a sense of me and do those things that I love to do, more like striking a balance 1 Like |

MizMyColi: I am glad to hear you are fine. Keep shining beautiful one. Per those books, thank God I didn't flop o It happens to me with films. Sometimes I watch a film for a second time and remember that I have already seen it at the end. Mindy, if I tell you I will read literature anytime soon, I'd be lying o Do whatever rocks your boat. You know my mantra: Life is supposed to be fun! Y'know... You will find this balance, trust me, every mom does. Only those who don't want to or have absolutely no support, don't or can't. All others do. There are different phases and every little one is different but you will not lose yourself. What would you have to give if you did? Whether you have a child or not, life is all about finding the balance, then losing it, finding it, maintaining it, losing it and finding it again. The cycle ends the moment we leave our bodies so keep moving. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mindfulness: And you too It happens to me with films. Sometimes I watch a film for a second time and remember that I have already seen it at the end. Lol It can annoying though. I don't like watching movies or reading a book twice. There are exceptions though.
Exactly, I know that I am indulging that culprit called worry. I'm well aware that I should live this present moment with all the joy and gusto I can muster. Every detail about tomorrow's taken care of I think most times we believe this without KNOWING it. You will find this balance, trust me, every mom does. Only those who don't want to or have absolutely no support, don't or can't. All others do. This is re-assuring. I'm not worried anymore though. Whether you have a child or not, life is all about finding the balance, then losing it, finding it, maintaining it, losing it and finding it again. The cycle ends the moment we leave our bodies so keep moving. Awwmmm, this made me smile. Thank you Thank you. How are you so easy to talk to sef |

Mizmycoli; The Shakespeare's play about "pound of flesh" is "Merchant Of Venice". Salarino, Antonio, Portia, Shylock the Jew... It was also the play that popularised this statement: "...temper justice with mercy". Portia said that in her monologue when she disguised as a lawyer to petition for Antonio. [...] I saw where you said that studying sciences had you precluded from reading too many literature. An all-too-common chest nut with Nigerian science students, something I cannot reconcile with considering how American and European science-inclined studs are well-versed in Literature. Perhaps a little Tetris ought to be done to the curriculum, one that would compel science students to take literature classes at least until SS2, and also until their second year in college. 1 Like 1 Share |

darkenedrebel: My dear, Thank you for refreshing my memory. I even forgot about the woman who dressed as a lawyer to plead her man's cause. I think mine has more to do with disinterest, chiefly because we weren't exposed to reading as science students, infact, attending a public school deprived me a lot. I sometimes wonder how I caught up. I love reading, but if you keep a novel and a book that teaches stuff on spirituality and stuff we consider abstract, I will chew the latter first, three more after it before I look at the novel. 1 Like |

MizMyColi: Let's take it a step further. Not only will we cherish the present moment but feel eagerness for the days to come ... in this moment. Confidence instead of worry ... in the moment. You choose ... now. This is re-assuring. I'm not worried anymore though. You make me smile all the time. |

MizMyColi: Same here. Some novels are horrible mirrors of reality and stretch credulity to its elastic limit, and sometimes seem like a complete waste of time. That is why I have a partiality for the works of novelists like Dan Brown – he both entertains and educates. What I hate most in a novel is when unnecessary and extraneous detail is given, like describing the colour of every character's hair or how they smile. I usually skip–skim those parts to expedite the reading process. [...] Use Pareto's Principle [20-80 law] – that way your readerly tentacles would cover more grounds within a small time frame, and without you feeling a salt pinch of enervation. 1 Like 1 Share |

frodobee: Wow you still remember the words, those childhood stuff just have a way of sticking with you, while the things you learn now just flies away. Acting was something i believe i could have been very good act. But drama in my school was non-existent. Though i directed some plays in the University. But i love acting, wish i could indulge in it. Odewale's story was too sad, when the outcome you dont want to happen invariably happen cause you tried avoiding it 'the tragedy of macbeth'. I have the big compilation of shakepeares, very many brilliant stories. Reading lamb's tale was crazy, having to constantly check the meaning of those extant english words was fun but time consuming. Then you start start throwing the words around and showing off to friends and classmates. 1 Like |
