It's actually greedy pastors that preach tithhing. There is absolutely no scripture in the bible that directs Christians to tithe of their income. Tithes as it is preached today is derived from twisting old testament scriptures to suit the greed of those preaching it.

Tithes is scriptural but it's not applicable to Christians and the type of tithes(monetary tithe from income) preached in churches today is certainly not scriptural.

I give my 10% out to the needy, God sees my heart and i do that almost every month. There was a Sunday i went to church, i then noticed the guy beside me hasn't been standing up to drop any envelope during offering time, it was a Thanksgiving Sunday and he still didn't dance out to drop his envelope, i even persuaded him that God does not need his money but sees his heart which is full of gratitude. This is my point, after close of service that day, instead of dropping my already wrapped tithe into the church, i squeezed it into his palm and told him i actually wrote a letter and wrapped it in the envelope and he should not read it until he gets home.(Till today i don't know who the guy is coz its a big church)
So, i think its about God seeing your heart.

except you do not deem yourself worthy through Christ to be a partaker of his new covenant of grace as stated above...then you need to pay the rest of us believers your tithe.

But Jesus supports offerings,a course to which he gave his life. Just give with a cheerful heart,expecting nothing in return and that's the greatest.

The money is used for sponsorship of God's work. Example my church, the money is used to spread the gospel through media publication, handbills, maintenance of Free transport Buses, Crusades which cost millions each, Branch establishments, aiding of branches in need of support maintenance or acquisition of church equipments, like more chairs, park lot expansion etc.

paying one-10th of ur income is very important to God's house whether in cash or in farm produce but d question now is how many people still go to farm? during our fore father's dey all go to farm and in every harvest dey give one 10th to God and still have enough for themselves and arms giving etc. but in our era we do business and white collar jobs and is easier for us to calculate d one10th which is dividing whatever u receive into 10 and givin 1 to God... is dis too much to give to God ? No but many people still want to rob God by justifying themselves dat dere pastor is misusing it as at DAT dey prefer to give to d poor or needy...
