tess1:Pep on his decision to not start Aguero. "But Guardiola said he selected an XI without a recognised striker in an attempt to match Barcelona in midfield and prevent them from establishing their customary dominance." And if you watched the first half of the game it was totally justified, because they chewed and spitted out our midfield in the first 45minutes. Then Bravo. |

To be honest, I don't understand how a coach that coached a club for four years can't find a way to nullify the same players he coached and yet they term him the best Tactician. I honestly don't get it. Can't pep just find a way to stop messi from continuously disgracing him? Nawao 10 Likes |

PietroRico: Bros i tire for some reasoning mehn. Like one can't set up his team to reject space and maintain a good defensive shape again? Individual errors didn't bring Citeh to their feet lastnite, Pep's ineptitude did. Top managers know when to re-strategise and that's what separates them from average joes like Roberto Martinez and Steve Bruce. Having so much conviction in your philosophy even in the face of death is madness. Pragmatism is what makes you a manager not fantasy. 2 Likes |

raumdeuter:We can conclude then that Pep was overhyped. That his successes with Barca and Bayern could have been achieved by any other coach eg Enrique. City offered him a reality test. The man should be humble now. 1 Like |

sinizia:fergie isn't known to be a great tactician but he's one of the greatest mangers of all time, pep might be a great manager (according to u guys) but he's no tactician, a manager that plays one style of footie all time [without getting any result] doesn't know anything about tactics, looking for tacticians? simeone check, jose check, van gaal check, ancelotti check, conte check... tacticians. 4 Likes |

Pep is a classy manager, I rather play my game and lose than park the bus. Losing 4 0 in camp nou isn't a shame. Fergie lost there 4 0, wenger 6 1, mourinho 5 0 1 Like |

I respect pep and his work, no doubt. But, he should learn how to make his team dynamic and flexible. I hate it when someone is just stubborn for nothing. Even wenger has learnt some lessons from his experience in England. He now knows how to close space and not leave his yansh open when the time calls for it. It is not like pep can not tighten up at the back, because he did it against Manchester United in the league. I don't know why he can't just do the same after going a man down against Barca. Had it been he tighten a little at the back, maybe they would have started fighting again when Barca got their own red. Well, that is by the way. Why is no one talking about how sterling sent a player out within few minutes? 1 Like |

Nihilist: "Fernandinho is well known for his blistering pace and ability to shoot from long distances. He is described as "A DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER with a box to box style of play, contributing in large part to the defense and the attack. With a powerful shot and great passing range, Fernandinho has played an important part in breaking up opposition attacks and creating goal scoring opportunities" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernandinho_(footballer) You know what he is mate....stop with the gimmicks! |

Spy360: Garbage. What was the state of Barca before Pep got there? 2 back to back poor seasons finished the league 3rd 1points behind the eventual winners, Pep came in sold Ronaldinho and Deco 3 of the leaders and 12 months later won the treble. SHow me any manager who has done the equivalent in recent history 1 Like |

Ibime: Jose may have spent £275m but there was a value of the team he met. There were purchases before he arrived. Maka, Lampard, Crespo Duff, Robben, Cech, Gallas to name a few. Go add the market value of those players. £400m or very close. And it goes without saying that if you spent £400m in 2002 - 2004, that team should be best on the planet. I cannot find that article now but it explains the exponential level to which we were outspending other clubs in Europe. It was spending on an unprecedented scale. So please excuse my reluctance to show surprise about the team going on for the next 5 years at the top. I mean honestly, what else would the team have done? In that era, no one was spending like this. No one before and none in that era until City and PSG came along. There is nothing to suggest that many managers, given the same access to huge amount of resources, wouldn't have built the same thing. To give proper perspective, phucking Avram Grant almost won the CL with that team. Avram phucking Grant for Pete's sake!. Let no one tell me money did not play at least 60% of the job. If it didn't, let him come try that sh1t without money. 7 Likes |

SIRcumalot: When you are at an elite club you want your team to run over opponents everyday. When Mourinho was winning ugly with Chelsea and even with Madrid the owners were complaining and just waiting for the slight mistake to fire him Same thing happened with Di Matteo, he won the CL yet no one believed in him and many including his own club people felt he was just lucky If Pep and Simeone had indicated interest in the same club, who do you think they will hire Pep or Simeone 1 Like |

nateevs: True. Chelsea already had a decent squad which only came second in the league to Arsenals invincible and at that time had financial monopoly almost all over Europe There was no PSG, No Bayern, No other club spending at that rate or even close in the entire Europe Check this link http://www.transfermarkt.com/manchester-united/transfers/verein/985/plus/0?saison_id=2006&pos=&detailpos=&w_s= http://www.transfermarkt.com/chelsea-fc/transfers/verein/631/plus/0?saison_id=2006&pos=&detailpos=&w_s= in 2003 Chelsea spent 167M the next club was Man Utd who spent 55M In 2004 Chelsea spent 163M the next club was Man Utd who spent 61M In 2005 Chelsea spent 95M the next club was Man Utd who spent 31M In 2006 Chelsea spent 88M(including a free transfer Ballack who in that market would have gone for over 35M) Man Utd spent 27M So in the 4yrs Chelsea spent 513M and the nearest domestic rival spent 174M. Now when you factor that that was the time Arsenal was running pennies together That is what we call bringing gun to face catapults Any team who has almost three times spending advantage over the nearest rival should not be surprised of they dominate 2 Likes |

raumdeuter:What you want is different from what you need. For all the fine football Chelsea wanted they came back to him again to Sheperd them to the league title. I never even rule out the possibility of a third coming. Di Matteo was lucky I don't know why you dey bring am up. Concerning Pep and Simeone it depends on the club. |

Greatihex: But what exactly is tactical flexibility? Most times, it is not limited to an individual's understanding. Perhaps tactical flexibility is understanding that instead of playing a striker against Barcelona, I play an extra midfielder to crowd the midfield and prevent Barcelona from keeping possession. Thereby allowing us to stand a better chance of winning the game. The difference is in mentality. Pep was going there with a mindset of 'WINNING'; different from what all you are suggesting - a mindset of 'NOT LOSING' losing. What's to say you are right and Pep is wrong? Give us the stats of the number of teams that have gone there, parking the bus, and not lost. 1 Like |

nateevs:playing conservatively and parking the bus are not the same thing. It doesn't mean that playing conservatively means playing not to lose, but it means balancing the equation. Don’t forget that the last four times Chelsea went there, they came back with a result. |
