On our site, we are about doing the German floor, we are hoping something comes out next week about the price reduction, we may have to slow down or shut site for a while.

Good progress so far, but could you please tell me how you did your soil compaction, was it manual or mechanical? I'm delayed because my architect wants us to use the machine and we are still looking for one to hire. Once that is completed my oversite concrete(german floor) will be done in a day.

Wow nice, looks really beautiful and solid.

My architect is insisting on using a compacting machine and my bricklayer says its not necessary that manual is better. I have however agreed with the architect to use a compacting machine. I just need a reliable source to hire one from. I'm also ready for the oversite-concrete and I hope that'll be done in a day after the compaction.

I pray God'll continue to provide for you and that you'll build with ease even at this tough period. I must say I like your location as well, looks well developed.

Thanks for the prayer, I need it more than anything. My builder did a good job. I will definitely be insisting on compacting machine. May you also get God's favour on your project. We still need some more laterite filling sand and I cant find a single supplier lol.

we have finally completed the foundation to the oversite concrete stage. This wasn't a smooth ride but I'm thankful. I know the pictures below are not of the best quality but will be updating better pictures soon.

As promised, so far the construction has swallowed 1742500 and I think that's decent considering the sudden rise in the price of materials.

We'll be taking a week break to restructure how work will be administered on the site. Whilst on the break, the architect will be sorting out a quote for the next stage which I'll be providing again for your scrutiny.

Any comments or suggestion, please let me know.

I've also decided to replace the bricklayer as the first stage involved a lot of arguments which led to delays on site.

Any suggestions especially on where I can get good and quality materials in Ibadan, will be much appreciated

The quote didn't include water, maybe you already have a steady source on site.

So I have been given an extimated quote from my architect for the foundation of a 4 flat of 3bedrooms each. I need you to please check this to confirm if I'm not being ripped off. What would you suggest is the best approach. I anticipate your response as I expect work to commence by the comming week.

. Everything you've done so far seems to be in order. I was just wondering why the other 2 rooms were not en-suite. Nonetheless it will pay you more to drill a bore hole first before starting your construction works. Please kindly send me a copy of your building plans especially the ground floor plan(pdf copy). This was why I took the courage to continue, prices are definitely not dropping anytime soon. I got by blocks for 160 9" as against the 200 in the quote and 150 6".

Thanks for your observation. According to the architect, the reason for that is because we didn't build on a levelled ground. The land has a slope towards the other end and if you check out the other pictures you can see there's a reasonable height from the ground.

Thanks for the info, site is closed for now while we source material. We will also push on, seem like these prices have come to stay.
