Please what is your advice for a brother who already has a masters degree in Operations Management and doesn't want to write GMAT, but wants to study in Canada. Is another master degree an option or he should further to PhD?

Every application is unique, so don't expect a one-size-fits-all answer.

Based on what you just wrote, if your uncle puts together a compelling reason to sponsor you through his company (and if he has sole company ownership and sole control of the company accounts) then it should be ok. But I would argue that making such a compelling case is not as simple as you might think. His sponsorship letter cannot be generic, he needs to spell out exactly what aspects of the business he needs you to manage and why.

He should be able to precisely tie together how a combination of your prior education, work experience, character, and his relationship with you make you the perfect choice for a management position for his company. I would also suggest he provide details about the revenue growth numbers he anticipates your skills from Canada would bring to his business. He may also need to describe to the VO the strategic plan for his company and why your skills from Canada would be one of the final pieces to make this strategic plan come to life.

Once you (and your uncle) figure out how to address the above, then you will be able to come up with all the documents you should include. Basically you need any combination of documents that prove registration of the company, your uncle's sole ownership of the company, maybe some documents that show the company's cash flow (recent contracts or agreements with other companies), fat bank account(s), documents that show the company's strategic plan (if any), etc.

I know my advice may sound too detailed to follow well, but I'm giving you this advice because this is exactly what I would do if I were in your shoes. If you need additonal help, look through the long list of links I periodically post to view the "TRV chopping documents" lists, and you should be able to find lists of documents that various applicants have used in the past.

the company sponsoring his owned by my uncle (but not same surname) who is also an american citizen but runs his accounting firm (also a contractor who has built 4 notable nigerians) here where he intends to sponsor from, and its a one year programme (18k in total) in addition my step brother is also in canada (over 10yrs) who has also sent documets/affidavit of support to provide financial assitance anywhere i need it and also i have a joint fixed deposit of 3mil with my dad for my disposal.

education:
i graduated with a bsc in science, with a diploma in shipping management with experience in the shipping sector and other professional cert, so my uncle is looking to employ me to manage a new branch he his opening soon so thats y he intends to sponsor my PGD in international business management so i can quickly gain practical knowledge of business management within a year and come back....

with all this i hope am good enough to go? please advise based on your own opinion thanks

Welcome back Sir Haustraliah, i've also been alleged once.

If he gives his company account, then he definitely should also provide sufficient documents showing that he is both the sole owner of the company and is the person authorized to operate the company account. Does he have a personal account? If he does, that is preferred. The problem with using his company account is the VO may just automatically assume that it is the company that is sponsoring you, which may lead to more questions about why a company is sponsoring you.

So if he does decide to use that account, it would be extremely important for him to clarify in his sponsoring letter that he is sponsoring you from the company account because it is a sole-proprietorship and he puts most of his personal funds in his company account. I wish I could respond more eloquently instead of rambling, but I hope you get my drift. Cheers. Anyone else with experience with this should please chime in. Thx.

Thanks, but MBA tuition is relatively high and most schools requires GMAT, on the other hand, most schools also require GMAT for non STEM PhD programs.

The moniker in question provided a set of wrong information and several people had to disagree with his misinformation as well as his suggestion of using agents. It is healthy for the integrity of the thread when people are quick to point out misinformation.

I too am not immune to stating wrong information (though I try as hard as I can not to), and I welcome anyone pointing it out anytime!

I'm very sorry to hear about your GRE scores. Your Verbal score is in the 59th percentile (you did better than 59% of applicants) and your Quantitative is in the 32nd percentile (you did better than 32% of applicants). Have you considered coming up with a new way to prepare yourself for the test (the Quantitative section in particular) and take it again?

If you don't plan to redo the test, then I'd strongly suggest that you don't include it in your application as it may further jeopardize your admission chances. Usually Computer Science/Math/Statistics programs admit students with Quantitative scores above the 60th percentile (score of 155), although the best programs admit students who score above the 80th percentile (score of 161). Also, you don't have to apply to a school that requires the GRE. Hope things get better. Cheers.

Haustraliah is not an agent, I have known him as far back as part 6 or 7 of this thread and this is part 11. He is right about using agent to some extent but the problem with Nigerian Agents is that they are just bunch of liars, they are mostly after your money n in most cases don't even understand the basics of visa application. But if one can get a good n godfearing agent, one's problem is half way solved. Have come in contact with so many agents, asking them to explain to me in simple sentences how they will go about securing my visa is always a problem to them. So those against agents are also right to some extent.

Let's stop being overly confrontational, if care is not taken most experienced people will leave this thread when their contributions are always taken wrongly.

Please everyone if u must criticize anything it should be moderate n coded, let's stop the quarrels we are all learning from each other.

Thanks for your advice. Yea, I am actually contemplating on redoing the test (the money though ). I think I was not psychologically prepared enough for the test.... I studied hard but was nervous during the exams... I also later learnt that Mahanattan study guide is the best, the guide I never used.
on the other hand, I will also apply to one or two schools without GRE requirements....

You do not need to make deposit on the tuition fees before you will be granted visa.but check your admission letter I am sure Seneca will ask you to make payment for first semester to secure your admission.

Good morning, i have BSc in Physics and i have quite applied to some universities for master programs in Canada and the admission has been like a rocket science for me as majority of the schools in Canada required me to secure a supervisor and the process has been too hard and time wasting. Either the supervisors say they are not accepting new student or that their is no research funding. Now, i have considered changing my program to a related course-based in low tuition university but my question is that i need to know if this will not wane my VISA application success. Also, i will be glad if some1 could help provide names of universities that accept MSc physics student with UG GPA of Second Class upper. Advice will be appreciated. Thank you

2. I didn't submit upfront medicals, since I am not based in lagos but PHC, is it wise to do medicals next week, keep the result and when I am called to do medicals, I just upload my result? Just being proactive and taken advantage of my presence in lagos

Try university of British Columbia. Though its competitive but Nigerians aren't require to pay application fee. You have nothing to loose. You should try other schools too.
