nas00:thanks so much, I will have those looked up. But the coolant get dry every 2 days, while the temperature indicator does not rise above normal. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by nas00(m): 9:15pm On Oct 13, 2016 |
IYIMAN: Aha!! For how long has your coolant been drying up every two days? How many of your fans keep working after engine is shut off. The left, the right or both? You should have 2 fans. Most likely, the cooling fan started misbehaving after the coolant leaks started. Therefore, the ideal way to go is to FIRST address the coolant issue, and the fan/ thermostat behaviour MAY normalize. That doesn't mean you can't check your fan's fuse/relay though. However, if after doing that and nothing is amiss, focus on sorting out the coolant issue first. Since you said your engine is running fine and no overheating, you may have a rather slow external coolant leak, which you should patiently look for by tracing the coolant lines, preferably just after driving the car. You may need to examine on a ramp from below too. Pay attention to the water pump area and the metal pipe running into it from one end. The colour of the coolant may stain any area of leak to give it away. Another possibility is an incompetent radiator cap. Watch out for steam or small leaks around the radiator cap when engine is really hot. |

nas00:. Modified : Thank you so much, a leakage has just been detected from the base of the radiator. I have 2 fans and only one works, the second comes on with a/c. (so the 2 fans are working). The drying of the coolant was noticed this last Monday. The fuse and Relay checked OK. There is actually a concealed leak. ( I feel the continued running of the radiator fan when the engine is off, is a compensatory way of cooling the hot engine). Thank you very much, it will be fixed today.... I'm grateful sir. ***** a new radiator ordered from Luvinhubby. Kudos |

Gurus in d house please I need ur help. The abs light on my accord is on. My mechanic just changed my brake pads, D brakes works perfectly but am not comfortable with the light on. My mechanic said D abs is OK that I just need to clear the error with a diagnostic tool. I don't want to spend money just clearing warning light if d abs is faulty .. Please I need advise from car specialists here. |

kkon: Greetings Sir. Check the driver's door jamb. You should see a factory label there, that has tire pressure information. Concerning your second question, I quote one of my previous responses on this thread. Hope you find it helpful: Regarding availability of spare parts, honda accord parts are readily available at Oyingbo spare parts market in Lagos. That market is almost exclusively for honda parts. Just name it. 1 Like |

samilo88: Chairman, I hail oo. Your mechanic may be correct, and he may yet be wrong. The sure way to know is to scan and clear the ABS trouble code (a kind of 'reset'). If the ABS light illuminates after that, something might be wrong with the sensor. Cheers! 1 Like |

So far you are using manufacturer specified tire size, follow the factory recommended tire pressure. Check your owners manual to confirm recommended tire size. |

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by inze(m): 11:13pm On Oct 18, 2016 |
richnet: . . . means your engine is taking too long to warm up i.e it does not reach expected temperature after running for a specified time. this may be as a result of bad thermostat or your fan might have been bypassed directly. |
