According to you statement, you married them before becoming a Christian in the real sense of it. There is no where in the Bible where you asked to divorce your second wife because you became a Christian; the teaching of one man one wife is application to a first timer. The only place I have seen so far that seems to be completely against it is Deutronomy 17:17 and the verse is for Kings not a common man.


Polygamy as far as I am concerned was not God’s original plan for mankind but it was also something He allowed in the Bible so if I have two wives like you do, I am keeping two of them because I am sure I didn't break any scripture.

The reason we condemn polygamy is because we rarely find the system doing any good. Everything that is said about it in the past shows it causes troubles. That has not changed. Today polygamy still causes many marriage problems for those who practice it.

But if you can handle it then stick to it, though you will never become a leader in the church but it is inhumane and selfish to reject someone you have vowed to love till eternity because of a leadership position in the church.

Polygamy is not trending hence, many people abhor it. Religion sometimes is the cause of societal ills because of the human interpretation of its tenets; America discourages Polygamy but encourages gay marriage. The major factor in Polygamy is equity as well as fairness. If you're leader in the church, don't practise polygamy. If the resources are there, polygamy is one of the best things to happen to humankind.

Read Deuteronomy 21:15 If a man have two wives This commandment is coming directly from God. Obviously marrying two wives is not against the law of God. Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Isaac. Indeed Israel is a nation made up of the children of one man who had 4 wives.

In my own opinion, I will make the following points;
When christ mentioned about divorce in the book of matthew and said moses permitted it "because of the hardness of their hearts", it is this kind of situation that was referred to. Remember the situation where some sisters came to moses to give them a portion because their father had no male issue, moses had to concede after God ok'ed it. Situations like this are what christ referred to as the exception, but if you are yet single, go for a wife only.

On another angle, when paul recommended that the position of a bishop should be meant for a man with one wife, he meant also that there are possibilities of polygamy among the congregation. And mind you that this was long after Christ, when doctrines ve been established, and we never can say that paul deviated from christ's doctrine.
On the second angle, a man in my church in similar situation like the Op choose to stay with the two women and children whose marriage has lasted up to 25years: the only thing was that he wasn't a worker(and he was a grounded brother).

I will advice to Op to continue with his marriage, this laws are meant for us, not the other way round. Even christ was clear that marriage is a worldly affair that has no place in heaven, so the idea of the original wife is flawed. I will also advice prayers for direction, its really a dicey situation, but we ought to be humane, especially towards the kids and the 2nd wife, they also are Gods own.

2) God favored Israel above all nations. And Israel is made up of the children of one man and FOUR WIVES So God loves men who have more than one wife.
