CONTD....
Matt is in a place right now that only consistent and regular prayer can bring him out of. I want you to be patient with him, don’t get angry or upset with him, I know it would not be easy given his behavior but the good Lord will give you the strength, show him love like he hasn’t seen, be the perfect example of a good wife and mother, don’t allow him to find a fault with you in anyway.
Lucy give no more room to the devil at all in your home, you need to take these words of mine very seriously please and may the Lord remember you according to times and seasons in Jesus Name.
Ibi, I came here for answers but I’m more confused, did Matt complain to you about me? She demanded No! He didn’t say anything like that, he really loves you Lucy and the children, but
But what Ibi, please tell me as your friend’s wife now please what’s going on? Lucy demanded grabbing his hands and shaking them as if to get the words out of him. Looking at her closely, he suddenly had this revelation and told her simply ‘Lucy I think deep down you already know’.
Casting her mind back to present, Lucy remembered she’d been afraid to ask what he meant, realizing that she feared the truth as much as she needed to know it. It’s not every woman that wants to be told that she failed in her role as a wife, and has being replaced by someone else in her husband’s affections, although she was just 31 and young. No matter what angle she played it she still could not find out at what point she pressed the wrong button, yes! It had to be her fault but how, was it her fault that she couldn’t help her feminine nature? She’d hearkened to what Ibi had said about being a good wife, and she could see how much it galled Matt that she could not be faulted in any way in spite of his treatment of her now that bothered her on so many levels because she could have sworn that there were times when she really looked at him, she felt his love for her when he let his guard down and played with her and the kids, so what was holding him from loving her what?.
And then there was Logan, ever since that night, she’d been afraid to enquire from God, about him. And the result of that was every time she closed her eyes, she saw him, making it even more difficult for her to pray for she didn’t have liberty in her spirit anymore. She felt as though something was brewing but she didn’t know what it was.
Finally finding the strength she spoke in tongues and poured out her concerns unto the Lord. The week went by so fast, by Saturday she woke up to an empty house, the kids had gone for two weeks to Edinburgh with Matt’s parents. She had been delighted when they’d offered to take the kids away with them for what was actually 17 days counting from Friday till Monday when the school October holiday actually began.
Because of the early train journey they had to take, they’d decided it was best if the kids stayed with their grandparents the night before, which was a great idea at the time, but when the time arrived she couldn’t bring herself to say goodbye to them. Now they were gone she felt free, and hoped may be the time alone would help Matt relax and truly be with her. So far so good, they’d been talking, she’d been waiting up for him to come home, and as if he too had shared the same thought, he’d been coming home early. Lucy allowed herself to think it was because he wanted to be alone with her and not because of anybody else not being available.

Episode 10
Elizabeth scrolled through her phone as she read the latest text message Matt had sent
‘I love you and I miss you too, but try to enjoy your holiday with your family and don’t worry about me’.
It sounded sweet but she couldn’t help but feel that Matt wasn’t missing her. His attitude before she left was almost as if he couldn’t wait to get her out of his hair. She’d asked him if he wanted her to come back early and his reply had been this text message, which he’d sent yesterday. She dialed his number but he wasn’t picking up, leaving a voice mail she waited for him to call her back getting panicky by the minute.
Grabbing her jacket, she walked downstairs and told her mum she was going out for a walk. Shutting the door behind her, she allowed herself to feel the chill of the cold night. Borehamwood was a nice quiet neighborhood that suited people like her parents but for her it was just too boring, not that she had that much of a lively existence, but she believed you have to carve out your own means of existence, your own choice of fun, she believed in making things happen for her and not waiting oh! She hated waiting for anything; she was just too impatient with the slow movements of the tides of life when it came to her.
Ever since she was young she’d always had to stand by and watch the older guys she wanted approach other girls, no one approached her not even for her prom did she get a date. She’d wondered why that had happened to her, some people would call her beautiful, some would even go as far as saying she was simply a stunner and that she knew for she took pride in her appearance, even at that early age she treated her body with much pride and care.
So why did she find it difficult to land a date? When she’d gotten into the university, the same pattern had threatened to repeat itself again, she had lots of male friends who she could clearly see wanted more from her, but nobody wanted to step up to the game, to claim her heart.
In frustration she’d forced herself to ask the reasons why from one of her close friends after an evening class tutorial and his revelation had stunned her into silence. He’d told her that ‘for pretty girls like her, most men always assumed that she was already taken or that she wouldn’t want to go out with them so they never bothered making a move even though they wanted to’ that ‘it was up to her to give or make a direct or subtle move to get the right attention’.
Upset and outraged she’d thanked him for the tutorial and practically ran to her room at the student residence, angry at the hand that had been dealt at her. Her mother had brought her up to be conservative and reserved, well! If it wasn’t going to get her love and sex then she Elizabeth was binning the whole crap.
She vowed to herself from then on never to wait for things to happen ever again, but to go for it with all the instincts of a predator. It worked a lot like magic all through university, she went for every man she ever wanted single or not, she had no scruples about anything the end justified the means. Then she met Matt, and things became difficult, for the first time in her life she wanted a man who clearly wanted her but couldn’t have her not because of any particular reason on her said but because he was a Christian!
And to top that he had a very beautiful fiance who was also a devoted Christian she imagined her to be one of those women whose attitude in the bedroom made it easier for their husbands to stray. She knew this because he wouldn’t stop blabbing at work about how perfect his Lucy was and sometimes she sensed it was mostly for her benefit. Like he was telling her to back off! Well that only made things more interesting because for her the chase was sometimes equally more interesting as the eventual capture of the prey.

CONTD....
And yes! She won eventually, and it felt really good and truly worth it, because Matt was a real man in every sense; the complete package, and his wife well she could not believe that Matt had such a woman for a wife, it galled her to say it but Lucy was not what she’d imagined her to be, she was more.
She was everything that she wasn’t and it killed her with jealousy sometimes to think that Lucy was more beautiful in every way than she, but it consoled her to know that she had access to the one thing that meant the world to her. Matt. It’s been on for six years now; Beth reckoned it was time to move in for the kill. Yes! She wanted to be Mrs. Matthew Peters and it was time for Lucy to be booted out. It wasn’t any personal but just plain bad luck that they both loved the same man, and one of them happened to be pretty good at pleasing him than the other.
Suddenly Beth needed to be with Matt, to start prepping his ears to her point of view, she couldn’t afford to leave it till the end of her holiday, better to strike while the iron was hot. It was a bad idea to have left Matt however short or long the period not when he had his wife around to turn too, for in the absence of no one to warm his bed he might turn to his wife and that was a technicality she couldn’t afford right now.
She had to get back to Aberdeen ASAP, she turned around and started walking back home as fast as her legs could move, searching her mind for the perfect excuse to give to her parents who hadn’t had a proper visit from their daughter in four years. Feeling guiltier than ever, she determined in her heart that this night was not going to go to waste, better watch out Lucy.

CONTD...
FEW HOURS EARLIER
Lucy was a woman with a plan, a very air tight detailed plan to save her marriage, this night was a night of all nights, and Matt had no idea what she had in stock for him. She’d prepped herself every night and did all the right things to make him know she was available for him, she even brought out her seductive lingerie which she’d bought when they were getting married, and wore them when she was ready to go to bed allowing him to have a filled glance at her before getting to bed. She’d done this for five nights now since Monday, but he just wasn’t acting interested in her.
She decided today to go shopping for seductive body soufflés and oils, tonight she was going to seduce her husband, even if it killed her. More determined than ever she had gone to one of the gyms on Union Street, and used up their free day trial to tone up her already fit body, leaving her trusted assistant Debbie in charge of the business.
Rushing home she’d prepared his best meal of white rice, spicy tomato sauce, with barbecued chicken marinated in barbecue sauce, as well as matt’s favorite dessert, Hagen Diaz cookie dough ice cream. She’d bought whipped cream which her internet search had revealed was very good for use in the bedroom, for certain activities she got excited just thinking about.
She’d tuned down the lights in room and the living room a bit, as was said in the list of seduction tips she’d read about, and she was determined to win her man back before this two weeks was over. She mentally checked her plan again, she was wearing a short tightly fitted red gown, that flattered her figure giving her a sexy look, she liked the fact that it did not make her look like she was trying.
Thank God for a habit of dressing nicely indoors, matt wouldn’t easily guess what plans she had for him, she’d been prepping him all week, daringly bringing up the lengths each day. She’d done her hair in a nice braid that brought out her eyes, which were subtly made over in a way that became obvious under the scrutiny of an expert eye which matt wasn’t. She took a look at herself in the mirror and knew matt had no chance tonight of turning her down.
She heard him drive home, quickly she ran to the kitchen, and tried to appear busy. God I’m really trying here, she prayed within, please give me a pass mark today. Matt came in, said hi to her and ran upstairs to change, she imagined what he would see when he got upstairs, what he would smell when he go into the room, how he would react to the fact that his wife was trying to seduce him. She listened to his movements, with her heart in her mouth while she set the table. Eventually he came down casually dressed, looked at her and smiled as he sat down.
She was so overjoyed, that was a good sign. She told him dinner was served, carefully reaching across the table she allowed him to have a whiff of her scent, while she served his food. Smiling at him and maintaining eye contact, she gave him his plate, he smiled again. God! She was in heaven.

CONTD....
Matt watched Lucy serve his food and he was blown away by the look she gave him. Her smile, her eyes they looked different, and then his senses were assailed, with the scent of her body, it was something he hadn't perceived before, fruity but different. He mentally slapped himself for bringing Beth into this, this was he and his wife, and the past few days, Beth had travelled to see her parents in London, she'd asked him to go and he'd declined for some stupid reason and she'd gone alone angry. Now he was glad he hadn't gone, for he would not have wanted to miss this for the world, he couldn't believe Lucy was doing this after all these years, what he'd seen upstairs had blown his mind. The setting of it all had sent him reeling, he could feel himself being actually seduced, his mind was cast back to the early days in their marriage, of roses, candles and wine ready to set the mood.
Lucy was glad the meal was finally over. She quickly cleared the dishes, into the dishwasher, brought out a chilled bottle of n/alch red wine and returned back to the room, holding it along with two wine glasses. She waved it at Matt to gauge his interest and delightfully he rubbed his hands together with glee as he helped her to open the bottle pouring the wine for both of them, they clicked their glasses together, and downed their drinks trying to make small talk about nothing, while making steady eye contact. Lucy put down her wine glass down and turned on the CD player with the remote control, on cue it began to play their favourite love song I will always love you by Whitney Houston, for some reason it felt oddly appropriate. Pulling Matt up she drew close to him, he held her closer too and together they danced. Lucy felt happy, almost to the point of tears it'd been a long time since they'd been this way as a couple and it felt really good, although she'd never really had a lot of practice with romance, so she quietly enjoyed the moment hoping Matt would make a move at some point.
Matt felt tears in his eyes as he danced with his wife, he'd really missed her, couldn't believe it'd being this long, ironically he'd actually promised Beth, he wouldn't sleep with his wife. He'd laughed when she had said it partly because it not only sounded strange given who Lucy was and who Beth was, but partly because he didn't think it was possible at least not if it was down to him making a move. But now he felt different, he wasn't sure why he felt so emotional, maybe because he realized that he really loved his wife or because he couldn't believe that in spite of all he'd been to her, though he wasn't sure how much she knew or suspected, she still loved him and was trying this hard to win him over. Pushing Beth out of his head, he cradle Lucy's head in his hands and kissed his wife passionately for the first time in years.
Lucy was so unprepared for how she felt when Matt's lips touched hers, she mentally swooned. Together they stood there and time stood still with them, it was a reunion of two lost souls broken apart and now healing together again as one and all they each wanted to do was to savor every moment. A part of Matt wanted to be wild and passionate, and the other part wanted to be soft and gentle as his hands kneaded through her hair gently playing with her locks in his hands, in the end he gave in to the moment and with one swoop he lifted Lucy into his hands and she jumped on him cradling her hips around his waist. Surprised at her fervent response he carried her upstairs barely managing to keep still as they kissed and touched each other wildly. Eventually he got them into their bedroom, placed her gently on the bed, and carefully removed her clothes drinking in very detail as he kissed every inch of her body and hurriedly getting out of his clothes, he slipped under the covers next to her. He kissed her slowly and passionately and she responded in kind too and the pre-intimacy went on and on as they made up for all the years, he looked into her glassy eyes staring deep into them drinking in the expectation, the pleasure and anticipation he saw in there. Then the phone buzzed.
Startled he realized it was his mobile. Knowing who it was he prayed it would go to voicemail, but it rang again making a quick excuse he reached for the phone which was on the drawer by his side of the bed. He knew it was Beth, wishing he couldn't answer it but knew she would keep calling till he did,
Yeah! He said
Hi sweetie, guess where I am? She asked
Where? He asked
I'm in bed at home, decided to come back early, want to come over?
Err! Not really. Matt replied
Alarmed Beth continued cooing sweetly into his ears, I'm wearing your favorite colour smothered in white chocolate just the way you like it, seductively she purred in to the phone 'hurry Matt I'm wet and sticky and getting quite hot!' she finished hoping it worked.
Mentally cursing himself as he pictured her in his mind. He found himself instantly agreeing, and ended the call.
Beth swooped for joy knowing she'd won a battle, although she wasn't too sure what it was about, but one thing she knew was, Matt had never said no to her before and for him to do that now something had really gotten his attention, probably his wife, not trusting the b****h one second, immediately she dropped her bag and headed for the shower to get herself ready. Given the state of things she may have to speed up her plans tonight, which meant giving Matt the best night of his life.

Episode 11
Lucy sensed something had gone wrong things had shifted in the instant it took that call to end. Matt turned back to her, kissed her deeply, she felt confident again but then he stopped and just stared down at her, she could feel how much he wanted her but he seemed conflicted like he was struggling to make a decision and in that instant she knew who had called. It had to be that mistress of his! She thought angrily.
Matt stared into her eyes willing himself to make love to his wife. He really wanted to, but he realized if he did, he would just be using her, and Lucy didn't deserve that. He knew he would still go back to Beth for that was the way things worked and he couldn't stop the flow even if he wanted to she ruled his emotions and knew just what buttons to press besides he loved her he had too otherwise why would he be turning down a chance to be with a woman that was rightfully and legally his.
Sensing his hesitation, Lucy tried to kiss him and he turned his head, she tried again but he averted his head still. Refusing to look at her, he whispered into her ears, I'm sorry Lu, then he got off, grabbed his clothes on the floor and ran down the stairs refusing to process of how his actions appeared to his wife. Snatching the car keys off the table he zoomed off into the night to Beth's house, allowing himself to think images of the white chocolate melting off her body drip by drip, subconsciously licking his lips frantically as he drove into the night.
Lucy could not believe how humiliated she felt right now, God if only the earth would open up and swallow her thereby ending her sorry existence that would just be super. Here she was being left unloved, high and dry and her husband rushing off to finish the night off with his mistress, yes! His mistress now she was convinced that there really was another woman, there had to be! Slowly getting up from bed she replayed the events of the past hour down to the last minutes, and could not believe she'd actually thought she could repair the damage of six year in one night of passion, that she believed she could wipe away the memory of his mistress who obviously knew him a lot more than she did, and could achieve what took weeks and hours of preparation for her to achieve in just one call! Remembering the frantic way he'd dashed out, she agonized at the betraying knowledge she felt that another fellow woman could do this, she fought the urge to curse her with every verse she could remember in the scriptures for she knew now without any doubt that Matt was having an affair. He had to be she thought again, for there were no logical reasons for his actions, what could explain leaving your wife in the middle of making love without explanations and dashing out of the house like a deranged puppy after receiving a call, what?
Matt came back to the house about four hours later, he'd been with Beth, His mind was still reeling with the things she'd done to him, she had actually been serious about the white chocolate, boy did they have so much fun! Carefully tiptoeing he stepped into the bedroom, not knowing what to expect, he realized that Lucy was asleep and had removed every detail of the past hour down to red silky sheets. He knew she was disappointed and angry she had every right to be which was why he couldn't afford to be a disappointment to her anymore. He and Beth had talked and they'd decided it was time for them to truly be together publicly as a couple, he hoped Lucy would be reasonable and understanding when he asked her for a divorce.

CONTD....
The next morning, Lucy woke up, and went for her run as usual. She needed to get her wits about her, for after last night's charade, she knew that this woman, had her claws deep into her Matt, and she didn't know what she was going to do about it. 'Be a good wife', Ibi had said, well what did he know! If she'd known how bad things were, maybe she might have had a fighting chance. No! God forgive me for that thought, yesterday proved one thing; which was that sex was not the way to fix things. If it was, the Matt should have stayed, then she realized that he could have stayed till the end and still left eventually for Beth, and she would have felt even worse, she acknowledged this little truth as she clenched and unclenched her fists
She wished the kids were around they would have distracted her from all these emotions, then remembering Liam and Susan were having a dinner party to which they'd been invited. She hoped she could get him to come, although the thought of going through the motions of being a 'happy couple' filled her with dread. Still just to spite that home wrecker, she would insist on Matt being with her tonight. Jogging back home she started going through her wardrobe mentally, thinking of what to wear.
Later on that night, Beth was upset to realize that she wouldn't be seeing Matt has planned. She realized she'd underestimated Lucy, something had happened yesterday night and even though Matt had refused to give the whole story she didn't need an oracle to tell her from the way he looked and smelled that she had being plying him with some seductive wares, she would know, she used them too.
How dare that woman lay a finger on her man? Beth was so angry she didn't care how ridiculous and misdirected it was, but rage was not the answer right now she had to keep her claws in if she planned to win in the end yes! All she had to do was apply more pressure on Matt giving him a taste of what he would be getting every day and night with her and in due time he would be truly hers she just knew it, he was already warming up to the idea of a divorce so all she had to be was sweet, innocent and understanding through the whole process and Lucy wouldn't know what hit her when her whole sham of a marriage fell down like a pack of cards, and if she wanted a fight well bring it on missy!
She would give her a lesson on understanding the needs of men 101. Reigning in her anger she realized it wasn't fair that she knew who Lucy and the woman had no idea who she was if only Matt would give her plan a chance but no! He insisted he would do it his way, he had a plan, and he needed Lucy to feel well appreciated and loved and unaware when he asked her. So agreeing to go this dinner party was part of the plan.
Even though all the jealousy in her made her feel like ruining the night for them by constantly calling Matt every 30 minutes for one reason or another. She decided to turn off her phone knowing that would drive him crazier. Oh! Lucy had no idea how good she was, it was almost too easy.

CONTD.....
As they drove down to Dyce, Lucy marveled at how easily Matt had agreed to come with her to the party. Maybe it was because he felt guilty about last night, if he did that was good for it meant there was still a bit of feelings for her. Maybe they still had a chance, it was time she confronted him with the facts as she saw them. It was time for him to confess his affair to her, so they could move on from it God willing she would forgive him if he would end the affair and work on becoming the man she once knew again. What if...? she didn't want dwell on the question that just propped up in her mind, Matt loved her he was just a bit lost, she really wanted to believe that, he was her husband, they were supposed to spend their lives together not she alone and he with another woman. That woman whoever she was just a distraction on their path, she was ready to fight for this marriage and it was now time for Matt to stand up and face the music. She decided tonight after the dinner would be the right time, she would catch him unawares.
Meanwhile at Susan's house the party was already in fuel gear. Most of the guests had arrived and in a party mood too, now the party had kicked into a full swing. There were a perfect mix of guests all from different circles, Church, Liam's clients, Susan's colleagues, friends and relatives and a few neighbors. Susan always tried to throw a party once a year usually towards the end of the year, before all other events came up and every one's diaries were fully booked up.
Moving through the crowd she looked and played the part of the perfect host, dressed in a beautiful black dress that gave her shape a streamlined silhouette, she mingled with the guests stopping for a chat now and then, while supervising the food and drinks which had all been catered out of course! She'd told Liam if he wanted her to continue throwing these parties he had to do it her way, which was the stress free option! Cater it all out even down to the music, and be a guest even at your own party!
Logan knocked on the door for the third time to see if Naomi was ready. This was the third dress she was trying on, he'd told her, people rarely dressed up around here, the code was usually to dress moderately so you could fit into the dress code for the party just in case word didn't get around to you on time. As you grew older you found it easier to just follow the norm, although for this occasion Susan had preferred that everyone dress up to their best. Finally coming out of the room, Naomi looked sensational and he told her so. She thanked him, and sashayed around a bit stopping in front of him she spoke as if to an imaginary crowd and said hi my name is Naomi and I'm black and beautiful. Logan threw back his head and laughed, God she really was something, slipping her hands into his, they walked down the stairs together chatting, looking completely at ease with one another just like any other married couple.

CONTD....
Matt walked in to the party holding Lucy's hands as they walked side by side. He knew how much this charade meant to her, looking like the 'happy couple', so he was determined to be his best tonight and from now on. As they mingled with the other guests, recognizing faces from the church, they stopped to chat here and there. Just then they heard their names called behind them
Matt! Lucy! It was Ibi and his wife, suddenly Matt felt uncomfortable.
Hey Ibi Lucy greeted, how have you been? She exchanged hugs with them, whispering a compliment to Abby about her red dress.
Abby replied, gee thanks! I look forward to this party every year, already had my dress picked out months ago!
Me too Lucy replied. They both laughed together aware of how petty their conversation was considering the tension between their men, who stood there trying making an attempt to share in their laughter.
Eventually Ibi asked, so Matt how's work?
Great! Matt replied with a grimace
Do you still travel regularly? Ibi asked again his question implying a hidden meaning.
A nerve twitched around Matt's cheek, as he stared at his friend for a brief second, looking away he spoke yes! Telling him all he needed to know.
Nodding his head suddenly getting upset, Ibi nodded to his wife, a signal for them to move on; catching his drift Abby asked him where the drinks were for she was thirsty which was actually quite true, Lucy pointed them in the direction of the bar and hurriedly sharing their goodbyes they drifted away in search of drinks. Matt sighted a waiter carrying a tray of glasses of sparkling white wine; he also excused himself to get some for them. Loosening his tie as he moved, he shook his head thinking how this night was going to be harder than he imagined. Thinking of Beth, he wondered what she was up to, he decided to give her a call, may be that would relax him a bit.
Feeling suddenly alone Lucy searched through the guests for Susan and soon spotted her, glad to see her friend she quickly walked towards her direction weaving in between the guests then just a few steps away she sighted the group Susan was chatting with, it was Liam, a tall stunning woman and then her heart stopped when she saw who the man standing next to her was. Logan.
Logan turned sideways in her direction about the same time Lucy spotted him and everything stood still. Lucy stood there shocked and rooted to the ground. She looked even more beautiful than he remembered he noted to himself as the conversation around him gradually went into silence in his head. They stared at each other across the room, he marveled at the massive effect she still had on him after all these years. Naomi suddenly noticed Logan's silence and followed the direction of his eyes, saw the woman he was staring at and knew instantly who she was; the bane of her existence, the one person who brought out a side to Logan that nobody could, this woman was so special to him and she Naomi disliked her desperately for that reason alone. Instantly Lucy suddenly came to her senses and decided it was best to turn around and go in search of Matt, but just then Susan spotted her and shouted Lucy! Lucy! Over here she waved excitedly, over here.

Lucy stood still in the middle of the room, she saw Matt across the room a phone in his ear, and lamented to herself 'oh great! The one night she really needed his complete attention he couldn't wait to have a chat with his bimbo the moment he was free what was wrong with all the men in her life?' She thought tearfully. Breathing deeply she turned around, put on a brave smile and walked confidently head held high towards Susan, praying for strength.
Hi sweetie, great party as usual. She commented as the hugged each other
I know, Susan replied as they lightly exchanged cheeks, you look great too as always, where's Matt looking around? She asked
Lucy turned around in search of Matt, Hm! there he is, on the phone, she waved at him to hurry.
Let him take his time Lucy, trust me it's better for him to get the call out of the way now, so you have evening free. Susan said winking at her.
Lucy laughed knowing how ironical and true her words were.
Turning to her side Susan spoke up, hey Naomi I would like you to meet my very good friend Lucy. Lucy this is Naomi, she's Logan's ...
Wife, Naomi quickly added in stretching out her hand, aware of the confused looks Susan was sharing with the two men.
She shrugged, and continued the introductions, and you do remember Logan she joked. Speaking to Naomi, she said they used to be very close before Logan decided to go to the States for only God knows why. She playfully jabbed Liam in the ribs, who was standing behind her as she said this, knowing it was for business reasons.
Fighting for control, Logan spoke calmly; Hi Lucy, it's being a long time, stretching out his hand to shake her.
Lucy replied 'back at you' as she shook his hand trembling.
Lu here's your drink, Matt suddenly came up behind her handing her drink to her.
Lucy grabbed it from him and downed it in one swoop, grateful for his timely appearance.
Wow! Lu are you okay? He asked concerned, then he looked up and noticed the rest of the group she was chatting with.
Greeting them all at once he sighted Logan and exclaimed Hey! Logan where did you spring from? He asked his surprise clearly visible; they shook hands, exchanged pleasantries and soon began catching up together with Susan and Liam, while Lucy distracted herself by striking up a conversation with Naomi.
So how long have you guys been married? She asked
Oh! Me Naomi replied five years now, and two wonderful boys to show for it. The elder Alex is four and the younger Daniel is two.
Really! I've got two kids myself, twins actually, they are both five years old. I've been married for six years now.
Don't you lie to me? Naomi gaped at her, you look so fit, and how did you lose all the baby weight? She asked
I guess I was just lucky but then I did a lot of running, breast fed the twins for almost six months till I gave up and turned to formula, but by then I believe had practically lost all the pregnancy weight. Lucy realized she'd been prattling on 'don't let me bore you' she exclaimed
Oh! No it's okay. I lost my baby weight too although not instantly like you, I know you find that hard to believe but the truth is I've always being a size 14 so when I got back to that size I just stopped my diet and kept fit I know I could have gone down to a size 12 or 10 but I love myself this way. Fancy you feeling awkward talking about weight issues; you know 'skinny people' rarely feel that way where I come from. They just can't wait for a chance to pretend to complain about their bodies, their diets, their exercises and their men. Naomi said humorously flipping her hand so you my dear are quite the opposite.
Laughing out loud, Lucy shook her head, she liked this woman God help her she really did. Fishing into her purse for her business card she gave it to Naomi. How long are you around for?
We've got two more weeks to go before I go back to my babies. Naomi answered
Well here's my card, pop in anytime you're in the city centre or you can call ahead to book an appointment, my number is right there on the card. Just in case you want to do something to your hair for the return trip, or you may want to buy some make-up products for yourself and friends back home. I will even throw in some discounts too. Lucy said smiling.
Gee Thanks Naomi said. I'm definitely coming. Hey! Logan See what I got brandishing the card in front of him. Discounts for my hair and make-up Lucy gave me. She said excitedly
Thanks Lucy that's really nice he replied even though he'd been listening in on their conversation the whole time, while talking business with Matt.
Lucy nodded weakly at him. Turning to Matt she whispered in his ear and excused herself for a minute. Turning around she walked fast out of the room through the back door down and out in to the backyard, for much needed air. Holding her hands on her head, she breathed in and out, for a few minutes. Logan was here, she kept thinking, and he was married. Assimilating that information, she felt a bit relieved to know that he'd been happy with a woman like Naomi all these years. She liked that thought, she needed to like that thought, it was important that she liked that thought she re-enforced to herself refusing to give in to the instantly familiar emotions running through her like electric shocks. She focused on that thought alone. He was married to Naomi. She liked Naomi. It became a mantra in her mind, she kept saying it over and over, she needed to accept it and fight back this flood of emotions she'd tucked away all these years. She was losing control and falling apart and she didn't like it. She remembered the last time she'd been like this. It had been at her wedding reception, when Susan had dropped it idly while they were chatting that LOJ was starting an international office in the States, and Logan had gone to set it up.
Her world had stopped right then. She knew she'd asked him to stay away from her, but somehow a part of her had liked the thought of him being always there in the background. He'd left without a backward glance, without a proper goodbye because she'd asked him too. She fell apart that day; thank God Matt thought it was a result of the overwhelming feelings of being married and looking forward to the wedding night hoopla! She checked her wrist for the time and realized she'd been there for about fifteen minutes, it was time to get back, before Matt grew concerned, as if he cared, remembering the other issues yet unresolved, sighing she walked back into the house wearily as one who carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, walked up to Matt, thankfully he'd changed groups by then and told him quietly, she was ready to go home now.
The drive home was quiet and surreal, each one lost in their thoughts, the radio was playing some love songs and was currently playing 'I love you by Celine Dion' Lucy wondered why the radio Dj decided to torture her with this song, it was just what she didn't need now.
Matt looked at Lucy sitting next to him, she wasn't herself, if he hadn't attended this party with her, he would have said it was down to him and the events of last night. But looking at her now, it all made sense, the pieces suddenly fell into place, and he couldn't believe he'd been blind to it all this time. It sounded cocky but he believed he'd just found his reason for a divorce. His wife, his beautiful wife had spent the past six years of their life together pinning for another man and the scary part was he didn't think she herself knew the half of it. Yeah! His lawyer would love this.
Now that Logan was in town, maybe they might get tempted given the right place and time, after all was that not how it happened with him. He was going to set a trap for them, he didn't like what he was thinking about concerning his wife but he knew Lucy wouldn't give him a divorce based on religious grounds, so he had no choice but to force her hand. He made a mental note to stay away from the house from now on till late night, just in case Logan paid a visit, and he was going to make sure every inch of that house was bugged for solid proof of their sweet reunion. Matt felt oddly alive; he could finally get out of this god forsaken marriage and for once he wasn't the only one with the guilty emotions. Driving into the garage he packed the car, Lucy had been quiet all through the journey, which wasn't unusual, but in this case, he knew not what but who was on her mind, and it wasn't him.

Episode 12
Lucy got out of the Jeep, slammed the door and ran upstairs. It was a good thing the kids were not around, she wouldn't have been able to deal with them right now. Going through the motions of undressing, she kept repeating her mantra in her head over and over again. Matt come into the room, looking at her closely. He'd been doing that all night, and she guessed he must have realized she wasn't herself, she just hope that he couldn't guess why. No! Matt didn't know her that well she concluded. Sliding under the covers, she turned off her bedside lamp, and gave in to sleep which surprisingly came swiftly.
The new week started and Lucy when through the motions moving about, her mind working like a robot. Her mind on her work, it was a good thing she was a great stylist otherwise her current client would not have found her new look very appealing. As if that was not enough, Matt came home very late and completely avoided her and they hadn't had the chance to talk since the dinner. She felt alone and lonely it was almost like she was being tested, but by who Matt or God all she could pray was for strength to get past this week because the kids would be back soon, and at least she would have them to distract her till Logan went back to the states.
Speaking with them every evening was her only comfort now, she found herself suddenly counting down the days to their arrival. They would be back this Saturday and back to school on Monday. She wondered if she'd taking care of everything they needed back to school, it would be disastrous come Monday morning if she'd forgotten anything important. Mentally she started to check the list of important items, check clean socks, shoes and uniforms, check pencils, pens and color crayons, check lunch boxes and lunch ideas, check registration for after school programme and on and on. By Thursday she was getting back to her usual self having being busy with all these back to school preparations. At work she grew chattier again, getting into the rhythm of the job once again. Then one day just as she was about to finish with a client, Debbie her assistant, whispered in her ears the words that froze her up instantly.
There's a man named Logan here to see you Lucy Debbie whispered
Looking up she saw him standing at the reception waving at her. Careful not to give herself away even as her hands suddenly started trembling, she said to Debbie 'tell him he would have to wait, I'm with a client now and would not be free for the next two hours till lunch'.
Debbie nodded and told her, she'd told him just that and he'd said he was willing to wait till she was done. Alarmed at his determination Lucy briskly told Debbie to attend to him, since he was a guest, he should receive the VIP treatment reserved for her special clientele. Debbie nodded and walked off, totally clueless to how her latest statement affected her boss. Finishing the client's hair, she walked up to Debbie and asked to see her appointment Log book, and to her dismay she realised her two next appointments had cancelled. One was Elizabeth Morgan, she remembered that one, and the other was a new unfamiliar name, every other stylist but her was booked till evening.
Looking at her watch it was just 12noon, she was free till 4pm, making a decision she untied her apron, hanging it she glanced at her reflection in the mirror, adjusted herself and wondered why she was doing it. Grabbing her handbag, she told Debbie, she was taking an early lunch, and if anyone asked for her she would be at her favorite lunch spot Subway.

CONTD...
With that she walked to the visitor's lounge, where Logan was seating going through magazines and sipping his wine. She approached him formerly. He stood up and greeted her.
Hi Lucy, hope I'm not intruding... He asked
Its okay she said, taking charge. I hope you're very hungry; I'm having my lunch now. So we could talk while we ate.
There's a Subway joint down the road, hope you still like eating it though. She continued remembering they used to go there together.
Yeah! I still do. Logan answered smiling at the instant connection they shared.
How did you get here? Lucy asked
I took a cab. Logan replied
Alright then, I packed my Jeep down the road, so we can just walk down then.
They walked side by side together chatting about life's occurrences, by the time they got to the Subway they'd exhausted all small conversations. They joined the queue, made their orders, and went through their usual motions of who wanted to pay; eventually they settled for each individual order payment. Picking a corner seat, they sat down to eat. Lucy was really starved, so she decided to concentrate on her meal, Logan also delved right into his sandwich, but kept sneaking glances at her, marveling at how she could be in control, while he was losing it just being around her. He wanted to talk but he didn't know how to start. Disappointed he watched their lunch come to an end, and they were sipping their drink, stealing glances at one another.
Lucy wondered if it was possible to say so much through your eyes, for what she saw in Logan's eyes was just too much and right now she didn't want to deal with it she wasn't ready to process all of these not with all that was going on with Matt and their marriage, stepping back into her usual mode she brushed aside her feelings. Seeing he wasn't going to say anything except stare; she stood up signaling him that it was time to go. Together they walked out, she glanced at him again willing him to say something, but he just stared at her and smiled weakly words unsaid hanging around them like a clinging wetness. As they drew closer to her office he spoke up finally.

CONTD....
We're leaving tonight. He told Lucy
Why? Naomi said you were around till next week. Lucy questioned instantly rattled.
Yeah! That was the plan but she misses the boys a lot so we've decided to cut the trip short, and leave tonight. Logan answered
Watching her closely he continued 'So I guess this is goodbye again Lucy, thanks for lunch', he said
Alright then Logan take care of you, give my love to Naomi and the boys. She replied her voice off key
Logan looked at her and knew she was struggling within, the first sign today that he wasn't the only burdened one, nodding to her, he turned around and walked away.
Lucy watched him go, every bit of her nudging her to call out to him but then what would she say? She asked herself
Maybe it was best this way keeping the innocence of their 'relationship', she was married, he was married. They were simply married friends who had lunch. She made to go into her office but soon realized she couldn't abide being around other people right now, she had too much on her plate. So heading straight to her jeep, she dialed Debbie's mobile and told her that she was going to be longer than she thought.
Driving as fast as she could, she parked the jeep just outside the house, slammed the door and ran straight into the house. She fell on the sofa and cried. Praying and crying all at once.
Abba Father, help me, help me Lord. Give me grace to do your will Lord, Give me strength to honor my marriage vows, I'm in love with another man Father, she felt a burden lift off her the moment she finally said those words out loud. I think I'm in love him. Lord help me what have I done. I married the wrong man, that's why all this is happening to me she screamed at herself. You tried to warn me but I refused to listen. She cried oh God! What have I done? What have I done? She wailed Matt doesn't want me, Logan... well I'm not sure what he wants from me, I'm not sure anymore what I feel for my husband if I ever loved him but I want to keep my marriage because it's what you commanded me to do, then I'm falling in love again with Logan, oh God she sobbed this is all too much for me Lord please help me I can't handle this all on my own, Father help me, help me with this burden help me Abba Father she cried. Just then the bell rang, she jumped up, wiped her eyes, and flung open the door without thinking, and there he was standing.
