Welcome to the highest oil and gas producing state in the country. Outside English, the main languages spoken here are Ibibio, Annang and Oron. Major cities include Uyo, Eket, Abak, Ikot Ekpene and Ikot Abasi. The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp is located in Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area. The environment is nice and serene, no hustle and bustle. Also have nice places to visit. The cost of living here is moderate. By moderate I mean that foodstuffs are cheap but other commodities are a bit high since there's no port here to ship goods directly. The transport system is simple. Commuters make use of buses, taxis and keke napep in Uyo, while bikes are used in rural areas. The power supply here is bae! And that is an understatement! You can get self-cons in Uyo between 70-120k but lesser in other lgas. Single rooms go for 2-3k. The state pay Corpers 10k. Talk of it being slashed to 5k due to the present state of the economy is making the rounds. Flexing here is 100 as long as you got the money, though not up to the standard in places like Lagos or Rivers. The people here are accommodating. And there's jara... The babes can take care of guys sha...

aBbiie25: It seems some peeps fail to check their mentions. Here goes once again;
DELTA STATE The biggest heart
Delta State is an oil and agricultural producing state of Nigeria, situated in the region known as the South-South geo-political zone. The capital city is Asaba, located at the northern end of the state while Warri is the economic nerve center of the state and also the most populated located in the southern end of the state.
Delta State is ethnically diverse with peoples and seven major languages and dialects are spoken in the state. The state is divided into two regions on account of state creation movements (between 1976 and 1996) which was a feature of the military governance of Nigeria. This culminated to the increment of states in Nigeria from 12 states to the present 36 states.
Delta State is ethnically diverse with peoples and seven major languages and dialects are spoken in the state. The first group are Anioma (Igboid group) which consists of Aniocha/Oshimili, Ndokwa/Ukwuani ethnic nationality, and Ika. These areas occupy the Delta North senatorial district of the state.
The second group comprises Urhobo/Isoko (Edoid group), Itsekiri (Yoruboid group), and Ezon ethnic groups. These ethnic groups occupy the Central and South Senatorial districts of the state. The Urhobo and Isoko speak very similar dialects unlike the Ezon and Itsekiri people but have a loosely related culture as they traded and intermarried for centuries before colonization. The Itsekiri are linguistically and culturally related to the Yoruba and Edo ethnic groups of Western Nigeria, while the Ezon are a branch of their kith and kin in neighbouring Bayelsa state. Most inhabitants of the state practice Christianity and very few traditional faiths—although the Ukwuanis also have many cultural affiliation with these groups most especially in their cosmic outlook.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT Delta State consists of 25 Local Government Areas. They are Ethiope East, Aniocha North, Bomadi, Ethiope West, Aniocha South, Burutu, Okpe, Ika North East, Isoko North, Sapele, Ika South, Isoko South, Udu, Ndokwa East(My Local Government) Patani, Ughelli North, Ndokwa West, Warri North, Ughelli South, Oshimili North, Warri South, Uvwie, Oshimili South, Warri South West, Ukwuani. For your PPA, You may find yourselves in any of these Local Governments.
The camp in Delta State is in a village called Isselle – Uku, about 20 minutes from Asaba, the capital. According to some past corpers, Delta camp is fun. The state pays 5,000 naira, i dont know if this has changed now but i think its still the same.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES Most of the big companies are easily located in Asaba and Warri, Sapele, Ubulu ukwu, other local governments too have companies but not as much as the ones in the first two cities.
FOOD One of the most popular and tasty dish of the Deltans is Ofe Nsala and pounded yam. This is mostly common to the people of Ndokwa east. So if posted in Ndokwa East, dont dare to leave without tasting this delicacy. You will never be dissapointed. Other popular foods are Ofe akwu (Banga soup), Ugwho soup and Usi. Food items are really cheap as well.
PEOPLE The people of Delta state are very accommodating, welcoming, friendly and warmhearted. Get ready to be over-embraced for coming to the community. Very high respect is given to corpers. You might sometimes end up getting any commodity for free because you are a corper. *Warning* Dont misuse the opportunity o!
LIVING CONDITIONS For those who may not want to be in the corpers lodge, you can get a room between 50-100,000 a year, depending on what you are looking for and where . Its a very peaceful state. On the downside, you may not get water or light in some remote villages. Please dont go and come back without learning one delta dialect. Deltan language is very sweet and easy to learn. You must tell me what you learnt when you come back.
NOTE* Please learn to ask question expecially if posted to the remote villages. There are farms, fruit trees that you shouldnt pluck or go into except if given the permission. To avoid theft, local farmers sometimes uses charms to bar thieves from reaping their harvest.
If you are posted to Ndokwa east, No swimming in the River Niger if you are not a Pro Pro. The water is very tempting but its deeper than you think. Dont say no one told you.
Well. thats all the research i could come up with for now. Goodluck guys and WELCOME TO DELTA STATE!

chumaster: ABOUT ANAMBRA STATE
Anambra is one of the Eastern states of Nigeria created in 27th August 1991 out of old Anambra/Enugu. It's of an Igbo ethinicity. It has 21 L.G.As Made up of 177 communities Shares border with Kogi, Enugu, Abia, Imo, Delta.
SLOGAN Light of the Nation
Security It's on record that Anambra as from 2012 till date has the safest state in Nigeria. Trust me, Anambra has the best organised community vigilantee who are well equipt and are well trained.
ENVIRONMENT Anambra has the best road networks. Apart from FG roads(those areas the state govt couldn't do cos of fund), all other roads in Anambra are in perfect condition. Almost all the communities in have major access road tiled. We are neat people, you hardly see refuse dumps along along our ways. ASWAMA is really doing a great job.
Indigene-Stranger relationship Yes, hear this! Igbos in general welcome and trust well mannered strangers more than themselves. Corpers are well repected esp in Rural areas. They will always try to assist you- giving you a lift, donate foodstuffs, provide a room for you in any of their big but empty mansions.
Remuneration The state Govt pays 5K comfirmed! Some PPAs pays as well I dont know abt the amount paid to Doctors, and those in the medical field
ACCOMODATION In Awka and Onitsha metropolis, House rent varies btw 70k - 150 k for self contains and btw 150 - 450k for flats depending on the rooms and sizes Areas like Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Umunze, Oko, Umuoji, have areas with same house rent as Awka and Onitsha and some other areas where you can be giving a room for free.
ALMOST ALL THE PPAs of GOVT PARASTATALS (esp, the rural communities) provides accomodation for corpers. In some cases the towns organise and provide one for corpers.
we all know how Anambra people loves building big Houses in their villages, owing to that those houses are left unoccupied or majorily occupied by their ageing parents hence many rooms are left empty. This makes it easy for one to find a place where you pay as low as N500- N1500 Monthly, or free if you can always keep the house clean till the owners come back for xmas. Electricity very good in major cities and average in most communities.
Traditional restrictions Awka people don't kill Monkey. Nnewi people don't kill bush rat. Idemmiri people don't kill Python(not serious anymore). Women dnt climb Palm tree.
SOCIAL LIFE Anambra people both Men and Women are enterprising and hardworking, but that doesn't take that Oringo away from us. You will always find an nearest enjoyment spot anywhere you are. We get am for sports too.
GIRLS: just like lagos gals, na your money. Most of our girls are enterprising and as such won't be swayed by your patry NYSC allowance. Men! you got to be dolling in millions for you to sway them. But they can like you sha I dnt expect you to go for the sec school gals cos it seems abnormal to me but they are very sharp and with sharp eyes like razor blade sha. GUYS: they can spend on you but not without getting anything. Trust me, you can't outsmart them esp the Business Guys LADIES NOTE THIS: boys of sec school age no get fear, expect extensive wooing from them if you are posted to a sec sch.
ORIENTATION CAMP It is located at Umunya in Oyi Local G.A. It along the Notorious (yes, as abandoned by the FG) Enugu-Onitsha Expressway hence very easy to get there. People coming from North will just pass along it.
APART FROM THE MAJOR CITIES IN ANAMBRA, OTHER COMMUNITIES ARE SEMI-URBAN, AND FAR FROM BEING RURAL.
Almost all understands Pidgin except the aged who are not educated.

coyy: okay.
I am not a fan of long essay.. I will just say the things I feel PCMS need to know.
OYO state is a very cool place to serve...
*STANDARD OF LIVING* D standard of living in oyo state is on d average.. things like accommodation, prices of food and transportation are cheap and affordable.
STATE ALLAWEE.
OYO state government pays Corp members #3800.. I actually thought the state stopped paying Cos of d recent recession but I have been corrected by d current Corp members that d state still pays..
PPA
majority of Corp members posted To oyo state serve as teachers(apart frm doctors and lawyers). this is because there are limited private companies and firms in d state when compared with Lagos or Ogun.
this doesn't mean every OYO kopa serves in schools, there are exceptional cases.. but most, serve as teachers.
SECURITY AND TREATMENT OF CORPERS
Oyo state, like most southwestern states is a safe place for corpers.
d people of oyo state appreciate corpers and treat them well ND specially..
SOCIAL LIFE
if u get posted to the state capital(Ibadan), oyo state is socially okay.. and unlike Lagos state, u do not spend much.
OYO BABES
no disrespect to d ladies, like most things in d state, oyo babes are not too expensive too.. so, ma guys.. una fit enjoy Dem without spending all ur ALLAWEE.

At ondo west, the power supply is average, infact let me it's okay,we do have from 8am-12pm or past 12pm till like past 3pm and at night anything from 10pm till i don't know.....LOL. On the issue of allawee, hmmm,I can't say coz the state is owing the civil servants, but seems the doctors still get paid. We have the Akokos as well,a lot to talk about,Arggghhh, lemme stop here.

chuksp09: EBONYI STATE
For those wishing to serve in Ebonyi, well Ebonyi is a fairly small state as u well know, but we've come a long way in providing for our residents, both locals and visitors, but as regards PCMs you will want to note the following:
Standard of Living - For someone living on a budget of N19,800, food and transportation shouldn't be too much of a problem, our food items are very affordable and transport is also quite cheap. A drop with keke costs u about N40 – N50. While a bus costs from N60 to N100. U can get a self-contained room from d price of 40,000k upwards if u re in close proximity to any of the campuses, and from 60,000k upwards if u re not. Single rooms pay lesser of course i.e. 20,000k downwards. Electricity is very stable, better though in towns than in remote areas; Ebonyi adopted this annoying 2days on 1 day off power approach, but if its okay for you then no problem.
Allowances - Ebonyi state pay corpers 5k, while would be doctors and nurses(corpers) are going to be paid less than 25k in the new administration (Dave Umahi), they formerly recieve from 130k downwards. The pay for corpers in medical fields is still subject to verification, as i had no one to reach for confirmation on that issue, i will update that soonest.
PPA - It should be noted that, while we have a number of government agencies and parastatals, corpers would mostly be posted to universities (there are number of those), hospitals, schools (private and public) and NGOs. There are not much companies around here but several big businesses have formed the habit of soliciting for corpers, corpers actually go for this; guess there must be a chance there for more allowances cause i don’t see any potential for growth in such situations. But pies surely taste different for different people. Btw, Afikpo, Ebonyi Towns and Onueke are nice places to live and work, Ebonyi also have many really, really remote areas, so pray hard for your luck to push anywhere but there.
Social Life - You don’t have to clear your pockets to enjoy a time-out, drinks are usually priced the way u re used to, except u go to the hotels. women are not cheap here, they got brains and eyes as sharp as yours, really.
Security - Apart from the normal occurrences in every other state, Ebonyi state is okay security wise. I wouldn't suggest u leave your 12k timberlands outside overnight though. we leave in peace with our Hausa, Nupe, Fulani and Muslim residents. Parties go on well into the night and then some; but the streets usually start emptying around ten o' clock or later; even so with your I.D. card u shouldn't have too much trouble with police and SARS.
As to how Eboyans treat corpers, we actually treat them okay, just don’t expect anyone to pamper you, and you will do fine. I hope I got d main points, if I didn’t, just quote me. (I don’t know how to do the general quoting thingy; pls someone should help me with that).

showgolee: *OGUN STATE*
*DESCRIPTION* LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS LGA HQRTS NAME OF CHAIRMAN SENATORIAL DISTRICTS ABEOKUTA SOUTH ABEOKUTA NORTH ADO-ODO/OTA EWEKORO IFO IMEKO/AFON IJEBU –NORTH EAST IJEBU -NORTH IJEBU-ODE IJEBU -EAST IKENNE IPOKIA ODOGBOLU OBAFEMI / OWODE ODEDA REMO NORTH SAGAMU WATERSIDE YEWA NORTH YEWA SOUTH
Ogun state is a southwestern state and Abeokuta being the capital.
Ogun state practice all three known religion, in some parts in ogun there are festival that you need to be caution with: lisabi day in abeokuta; there is used to be litle or no movement that day likewise ijebu/sagamu oro day you do not need to be told, don't move outside your house except you have this thing yorubas call 'ogun'....
Accomodation is becoming expensive in all areas of ogun state mainly because of student as we all know ogun state house the most institution in Nigeria, exceptif you are posted to villages but when its town a room can go for 2,500-3,000 and self contains like 100k-130k, so accomodation is quite expensive
people in ogun state are friendly if and only if you do not pass your boundary believe me you wouldn't want to dare them as we are known to be good in charm not all though but when you are in abeokuta, ijebu, sagam, remo, yewa do not pass your boundary and dont insult the elderly ones...biko social amenities is up to standard as there is much more improvement on food, light and water in all parts of the state
ogunstate pays extra allawee of 4k before but i dont think they do that now
Job opportunities: of course there are so many job opportunities in ogun state as I once said it Ogun state is growing bigger everyday
most corpers are assigned to be teachers and few to higher institutions and Local govt...If you are assigned to LG enjoyment gbabe oo
Do I mention the prices of foods or other things are like in lagos....no cheap things here
mode of transportation in ogun is taxi, bike, keke napep and some part bus(not common)... be ready to stand by the road and start shouting where you are going to taxi drivers or be still take bike
tourist center I know of is the popular olumo rock and maybe ogun waterfalls
Security; you are safe, in most part of ogun state its empty starting from 9pm, to get bike will be hell but if you are the going out type, make friend with a bike man have his number and call him when you need to move around this works fine for me.
If you are a guy be ready to always move around with your ID card to show you are a corper shun! if not be prepared to be harass, disgraced, embarrass by federal sars and olopa almost everytime especially if you like moving around on bike and your wear designer you are automatically termed 'game boy' in areas like abeokuta, ijebu, sagam, akute, sango....
hmmn...social life in ogun is A in places like abk, akute, ijebu, sagam, those i know of....olosho are full, drinks yapa, night clubs on point!, bar on point, hotels are on point with pool, eatery almost every junction... Abeokuta and sagam number one as regards social life if you are posted there forget it enjoyment lowa if you have your money tho
All in all ogun state is really good to serve belive me, girls flying all around they are expensive sha just like all these lagos girls but not to lagos standard

Joygel:
lol, I chose both too,, if de gimme I go reach there.. I heard from a first batch stream 1 corper in taraba state that they redeployed all first batch stream 2 taraba corpers to other states.. so there is a tendency that all batch b pcm who chose taraba state will be deployed to taraba, since the previous batch B have passed out and there are now enough space to accommodate them... he also said since de resumed work the state allawee de promised them, they haven't paid a dine.... so I'm just chilling and watching lol, see you in either one of them. Regarding what you said abt stream II, actually they were those deployed to Adamawa but due to the Boko issue, have to camp in Taraba as Taraba stream II. So after the camping those who will like to stay will be sent back to adamawa but those who wished not to stay will be redeployed elsewhere. I stand to be corrected 2 Likes |
