Nigerians are way too corrupt. They would look for any reason to keep the status quo going. Why bring an external invigilator? Why use PVC/Card readers? Now it is why use the SSS to manage the issue of corruption (especially as it affects members of the judiciary) when we have other agencies. It takes a strong leader to ignore these distractions and continue on his path to ridding the nation its many ills. More blessings to the president. |

Excuzeme:What's even more irritating is that these people will clamour for ANY FORM of justice to meted out to petty thiefs and kidnappers but then cry and wail for 'due process' to be carried out on people like Dasuki who's evil acts cost the lives of thousands. Its even more disgusting that even though the government is using the due process they're crying for, because of an immense hatred for the present admin, they going to any length to find loopholes in the 'due process' so as to halt the anti-corruption crusade! |

Let me sign-off from this thread by quoting what human right Activist and Lawyer said, in a recent interview: Whenever judges were accused of corruption in the recent past, senior lawyers had rushed to court to secure court injunctions to frustrate the investigation and prosecution of the suspects. Neither the National Judicial Council nor the Nigerian Bar Association has ever called the judges and lawyers involved in the illegality to order. Sometime in 2011, it was alleged that the head of the National Judicial Institute was involved in N6bn fraud. He was politely invited for questioning by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, but the then sitting Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the Institute asked him to ignore the invitation. blackpanda:Oga.. There is no problem, national security agencies act abi? That's one major problem with Nigeria, our behavior of the end would justify the means, we can't just do decide things right and in the right manner. A lawyer was telling me, that even the constitution doesn't recognize any agency as the DSS, what is stated is SSS. Normal Nigeria way, someone just decided to rename it DSS. |

Chudichu: That is the problem with nigerians. Instead of opening book to read or even use google, you rather base ur opinion on what one "mysterious" lawyer said. Sir, the law is there for u in black and white. Is not about listening to roadside gossip or baseless insinuations ok. |

blackpanda:No need to argue.. Please check the nigerian constitution.. Then get back to me.. Thank you The National Security Agencies Act, Decree 19 of June 5, 1986, established the SSS and two other intelligence agencies for the Nigerian state. Section One of the Act states: “There shall, for the effective conduct of national security, be established the following National Security Agencies, that is to say-(a) the Defence Intelligence Agency; (b) the National Intelligence Agency; and (c) the State Security Service”. Throughout the Act, the “State Security Service” was mentioned three times, and nowhere was the “Department of State Services” cited. 1 Like |

How "the Name" it is called matters so much, is not even the issue. If they like, let them call it Jonathan Security Services As long as what it does is to PROTECT the Nigerian State and its Citizens, from "all and sundry acts" that can lead to "National Chaos" (insecurity), then it is good to go. Re: Exclude DSS From Anti-corruption Operations, Group Advises Buhari by iukpe: 1:43am On Oct 25, 2016 |
We need to use whatever means possible to arrest the sorry situation at which things have gone in our country. Many segments of the Anti-corruption process will be compromised if the best method is not applied. The most important concern to me is whether at this time we have the sincerity and good will of our leaders and all Nigerians especially those who are guilty of treasury looting right from independence. It has become a way of things and more are struggling to get there. People have picked up guns to fight their way to power so they can speed up their "wealth achievement", naturally scaring off well meaning Nigerians from the ambitions of political service. 150 million people cannot wait their turn to get a bite of the National cake, there for those responsible for spreading this wealth should not be allowed to loot us dry and cheat all. I wonder if we have had up to 300,000 people in government so far since independence, we are over 100 million Nigerians. When will be our turn at this rate? Let's all remember that the youths of today have been cheated out of the fulfillment of life as Nigerians which our country could have easily provided. Most of them lost in direction, not knowing where they are going. RIGHT must reign over WRONG in our country. Nigerians are so afraid of what happened in Ghana years ago, because we know our kinsmen, brothers and friends are all involved. But where are we today?.... blaming the other but not blaming ourselves. If we do not ACT NOW and decisively, to expose and end the idea that public office is about enriching oneself, we may not have another chance to even try and the next thing may be WAR. |

There are a lot of Nigerians who do not know what corrupt people are capable of, or what a Nigerian who is being investigated for up to N10m to N1b can do. If you are going after such persons whether by questioning or guns, you will understand. |

AntiHater: This is the assignment of DSS read below More of the over 200 Chibok school girls from Borno State abducted on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram have been released, News Express can report this evening. “I can confirm to you that more of the girls have been released and will soon be brought to Abuja,” a usually reliable security source told News Express on Tuesday evening. The source could not confirm the number of girls released this time but assured that they were already in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). News Express reports that the first batch of 21 of the Chibok schoolgirls were recently released by Boko Haram. “The release of the girls, in a limited number is the outcome of negotiations between the administration and the Boko Haram brokered by the International Red Cross and the Swiss government,” the Presidency had said at the time. It added that “the negotiations will continue.” |
