Hello purplecircle. By no means are visa renewals guaranteed. Each application is closely examined by a visa officer, and if there are any questions regarding the applicant's qualifications or travel history, he/she will be called in for an interview. The drop box service is a courtesy extended to qualified travellers. purplecircle: 1 Like |

I had my interview yesterday in Abuja and was denied visa, I had a genuine case of traveling to the US. I'm a pharmacist , I have a retail store and also have our brand of skin care range .I am married with two boys aged 11 and 9 . I have a presentation to make at am expo organised by the association of pharmaceutical technologist in Chicago Illinois. My interview lasted for 20minutes. The lady at cubicle 3went thru all my documents which are very genuine immediately I have her my bank statement she went in came out and denied my visa. Honestly the US consulate do not encourage entrepreneur into their country they want you to have 100million or more before you enter and by this encourage fictous and forged documents. I am a professional and I know my worth. Thank God for countries like Canada. You guys can keep your visa. I won't beg for a visa. 2 Likes |

My us visa interview was on 4th of October 2016. And the interview went thus. Visa officer: your passport please Me : I gave her my passport. Visa officer: (after scanning the top of the paper that was attached to the top of the passport and typing on the computer) what are you going to do in indianapolis? Me : I want to honour the invitation of my goddaughter's birthday celebration. Visa officer : am sorry your application does not qualify for a visa now. Please help me what might be the cause of the refusal? In the application form. The purpose of my trip was stated as these. Purpose of trip to the US: temp. Business pleasure visitor(B). Specify: business & tourism (temporary visitor)B1/B2. In the appointment the visa class was stated as B1. Was it that the intent of my travel does not correspond with the visa class that I applied for.

Dear Sir/Ma, TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. I am expected to apply for my student Visa in a few days. I would love to ask a few questions. Firstly,I am a Cameroonian. Are there special requirements for me since I am applying for my student visa in Nigeria? I grew up here in Nigeria. Secondly,How much am I to pay for the Visa fees? Am I to pay the $200 and the $35 for the expedited delivery or am I to pay more? Thirdly, while preparing the documents for the F-1 student interview are there specific hospitals or clinic to which I am to get a medical examination done? Or do I go to a federal government funded hospital for the medical examination? Fourthly, being a third-country national are there any additional requirements for me to bring for the Visa interview? Fifthly, what is a reciprocity fee? Do I need to pay one ? Lastly, Does the Abuja US immigration office accept third-country national student visa applications? Thank You . Yours sincerely, Airich01. |

Please what's the honest way to relocate to the United States. I am a business man, a degree in economics and in my late 30s. Please I need a simplified detail if the chance is available. I don't want to read all the posts here and get confused even more. Thanks for the inconvenience I may cause you to respond |

Hello Nairaland. This notice went up recently on the Embassy website, but we'd also like to get the word out here: NO EYEGLASSES IN VISA PHOTOS Effective for applications filed on or after November 1, 2016, eyeglasses must not be worn in a photo provided for a visa or passport application. Exceptions may be made in rare circumstances when eyeglasses cannot be removed for medical reasons, such as when the applicant has recently had ocular surgery. A statement signed by a medical professional/health practitioner must be provided in these cases. For more information, please see: https://nigeria.usembassy.gov/welcome.html and https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/photos.html Best regards, Abuja NIV 3 Likes |

Hi, I am wondering what effect the coming public holidays in December will have on J1 visa processing times. For example, if a person interviews on the 28th of December(Wednesday), will passport be available for pickup on the 30th of December(Friday)? Or are processing times going to be longer during this period? Same question for dropbox renewals of J1 visa- If dropbox application is submitted on the 27th of December, will passport be available for pick up on 30th of December? |

Good morning VO, I went for interview for B1/B2 on the 28th Sept. @ lagos consulate office. The woman that interviewed me told me my visa is approved & I should pick up my passport at isolo dhl office(circled on the white paper handled over to me) on Wednesday the following week. I tracked the passport on the US Consulate website on 5th Oct. & it shows passport still with US consulate. I later track it again last week & it shows no status update available for the passport number submitted & have not received any pick up email. Please help. Thanks |

Hello VO, I just stumbled on this thread. Didn't know it exists and may I thank you profusely for your time in answering the questions in this forum. Me, my wife, my mum and my two children applied for B1/B2 to visit my elder sister whom we havent seen for three years now since she moved to the US (special thanks to the DV programme). We were granted visas 02 Mar 2016. However, we were unable to make the trip for June due to my leave that was shifted at work. Also my wife became pregnant. We plan travelling to the US this Oct or early Nov to visit my sister and would also want to use the opportunity to have have our baby there in December (even though this was not in our plans when we were applying). I read that if no mention was made of plans to have the baby there during the interview that there could be consequences and that I may have to write to the US consular about the change in my intentions. How do I go about this? At the least, I cannot stand me my family denied entry at the POE and may just have to cancel the trip altogether and travel after she puts to bed. Please your urgent response will be most appreciated. |

Good morning Abuja niv, I have an interview appointment on Nov 4th because I applied to go for medical seminar in Washington. This trip is sponsored by my company(an NGO based in Abuja). As it stands, some other programs have come up and I will not be abailable to go for the seminar as it clashes with a more important program here in Nigeria. Pls wha do you suggest I do?I have already stated in my submitted form that I will be going for that seminar and I don't know if it's okay to turn up on my interview day now saying I'm only going for tourism purposes |

Hello VO My DS-160 form was filled, submitted and booked an appointment already for next month for a B1/B2 visa..... I found out that we didn't fill YES for d position where it asked if I have traveled within the last five years,I have a travel experience, but obviously it was a mistake.. My question is: how can i convince the VO that it was a blunder during the feeling of d form and that I have travel experience... Secondly: since I have my annual leave scheduled for may next year,I used my date of arrival for may too.. Will that sound nice in planning my trip.. Hoping to hear from u .... Thanks |

Hello disismeisdatu, You must declare your purpose of travel at the port of entry. Tell the officer why you are coming and produce correspondence with a doctor and a hospital with a breakdown of costs and proof that you can afford the medical treatment. Regards, Abuja NIV Disismeisdatu: |
