My friend if you cant wait for local rice to penetrate d market, go n produce ur own n feed ur family, those days pple used to gave gardens at d back of their house, at d back of my house den we used to have lots of plantain trees, I remember wen we had those trees we never bot plantain n it was always n abundance even to d extent tht it used to get spoilt. We cut it down n used d space for something else.

Now go n price plantain n d market. Like I said back den pple had garden at d back of houses, were has that culture hone to, go abroad, ull still find pple having little garden were dey pick tomato, pepper, veg, maize .....so ders nuffn wrong n having a little farm to feed ur family

And wen has vegetable garden equate farming rice...... Made u we need mechanized mill to make our rice compete with d imported one

Let those miscreants continue to rant in Anambra. His state government is investing in locally grown rice and will soon begin massive production. Instead of the lazy mumu to join and work hard to earn a living, he prefers to just sit down lazily for other countries to do the work for him while he looks for ways to loot or collect bribe.

Please be quiet and stop making noise. Local rice has long left that level of stones. There are no stones in abakaliki rice, neither in niger state rice. I sometimes buy mine directly from the mill but it is very much available in the market. And yes it is cheaper than the imported brand.

So how will importing what u can produce help u produce more to meet ur demand?? I dont know why some people deliberately refuse to use common sense. You dont even have the forex to waste and be importing rice that has stayed 12yrs in silos and sprayed with all manner of toxic chemicals. Wen u can produce same that is cleaner, healthier and cheaper. This is not rocket science!

Oga beans can grow nywere o, even in ur backyard, just open d soil n put grains of beans, come back n three days, d beans would start growing, if u cnt do tht n u CNT buy beans den go for garri...... Atleast cassava is evrywere n pple fry garri in their backyards....

So because ders hunger we should turn our country to dumping ground for all sorts of products, we would kill n discourage local production of goods. The people tht we import rice n oda food items from do dey have better soil or larger expanse of land dan us??....We dnt want to suffer little pinch yet we want d govt to diversify, its easy to open ur mouth n say diversify d economy. The Campaign for Democracy, CD, has given the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to lift the ban on rice importation, to help reduce premature deaths by suicidal actions by hungry and frustrated Nigerians.
National Publicity Secretary of CD, Dede Uzor Uzor, who gave the ultimatum in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday, said since government does not have any incentive for farmers to produce enough rice for local consumption, there is no need banning importation of such an important commodity.
Describing rice as one of the favourite staples of every family, Uzor declared that “with Nigeria being unable to grow enough rice for the population of about 180 million, continued placement of ban on it would only aggravate the situation and cause more harm than good.”

Two different things..Nigeria has more arid and farmable land than Countries like Thailand and Indonesia.. So who so ever gave you whatever impression that Nigeria can not feed itself gave a wrong idea...so go and farm and stop blaming government for everything.
