Hi bro, saw your post on the update, I guess they said that to you cos they are waiting to have a clue on the rates for their secondary market buy.

Fortunately I am in touch with a guy who handles TBills bids at a Branch just near EEDC office I guess its same as where you Bank?

If you really need to sell urgently, you can go back to the branch and ask to see the person in charge of T-bills, then tell him you already have someone who will buy it. He will decide the rates as Bank still have to make a profit out if it.

Let me know.

LaconicINC:
Ok will let you know by tomorrow by God's grace

Hello Gurus, wink

Pls I need your comments/advice on my TB transaction with a Bank.

I was able to invest in the last TB of 19 Oct as I gave my Bank the instruction to invest 400k for 182 days.
On Thur-20 Oct, I got debited N400k and Custodian fee of 199.45 and commission fee of ₦ 41.64. I was credited with upfront interest of 33,308.49.

I calculated that they bidded at 16.7%, but I saw that the official rate for 182 Days on 19 Oct was 17.09%.

I thought I will be debited the sum of the discounted value of 366,691.51 with the other fees/charges, have 33,308.49 left in my account and also credited with upfront interest= 33,308.49 to spend.
So that I will get the sum of N400k returned in 6 months’ time.
This will make a total return of my investment to be N466,616.

Pls assist to confirm if they are right and what amount will I collect in 6 months’ time.
They have not given me any advice/investment letter also.

cool

. . . 400k will be credited to you at Maturity. Your interest has already been paid upfront. It is more likely you went with "bank rate" which is why you got 16.7% which to me is not a bad deal but you should note that the percentage is at per/annum basis and the only way you'll arrive at that 66.616 profit is if you had put in your bid for 365days.

Thank you very much.

Please what are the possible rates to bid for the various tenures?
My account officer seemed to be withholding information about bidding in the primary market and was trying to encourage me to bid in the secondary market

not necessary
how can you say its not necessary. assuming you need to get a loan from the bank, don't you know that your treasury bill can stand it for you as a collateral. how possible will that be without a proof of evidence?.
God forbid tho but assuming an investor dies after investing, with the letter or proof of investment, his/her family will know that there is a pending investment that they can cash in after his/her demise.

..From what I was made to understand by my account officers at FBN,there is not meant to be any charge on your TB..I wasn't charged any fee and my bid went through(FBN)..So go to your FBN bank and ask them to provide explanations..
actually that's false. at fbn bank. you will be charged
commission - 0.125%
custodian fee - 0.10%
transaction fee - 100naira and then
Vat - 5% of all three above.
################################################
those are the charges according to first bank Nigeria.
although after personal calculation, the total charge came out as 1.1% of my interest

don't mind them... primary bidding always occurs....it could be that you came after the deadline had lapsed...(had similar issue with Standard Chartered)..

but I still waited till the next auction round and bidded via the primary market.....so my advise is for you to wait for the next auction cycle in 2 weeks (try and go on the Monday b4 the bid as early as 10am)

Trade Minister, Enelemah, identifies strategies to move the economy forward at the 6th FBNQuest Investor Conference

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okey Enelamah, has reiterated government’s commitment to ending the current economic recession through strategic policies such as robust partnership between government and the private sector, support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as intervening in high potential sectors including manufacturing and agriculture.

He made these points at the 2016 Annual Investor Conference organised by FBN Capital Limited, the Investment Banking and Asset Management subsidiary of FBN Holdings Plc. held on October 27, 2016 at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos.

In his presentation tiled ‘Matching Opportunities with Patient Capital,’ the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okey Enelamah, emphasized the importance of government partnership with the private sector in order to move the nation’s economy forward.

He said despite the recession, Nigerians should see the economy from a positive perspective and deemphasize on the negative side of the recession. He noted that the oil price crash exposed the structural deficiency in Nigeria’s large and thriving economy.

According to him, “Countries in difficulty have used different strategies to strengthen and diversify their economies. That is why Nigeria needs to move away from over dependence on oil. Diversification and growth is key to economic recovery and ensuring a more stable future. Nigeria should have a strong local base of investors because foreigners will always leave leading to dry up of capital.”

Mr. Enelamah recommended applying practical solutions such as creating the right environment and polices to harness the productivity of Nigerians in order to overcome the current inflation in Nigeria, as the economy remains large and full of potentials. He added that it is very easy to have a disconnect between the government and the people when there is no trust in government policies.

Speaking further, the Hon. Minister identified the 5 execution principles of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (MITI) which include creating a favourable economic framework, support to Micro, Small Scale and Medium Enterprise (MSME), sector prioritization, partnership and joint ventures and immediate implementation of policies.

In order to realize Nigeria’s diversification and growth plan, it is essential to concentrate on an area where Nigerians are advantaged and give them necessary support, he said.

He further identified areas such as energy, clarification of Nigeria’s foreign exchange policy, agriculture, manufacturing and transportation as critical to economic growth.

In his conclusion, the Minister declared, “A crisis is too great an opportunity to waste.”

Head, Equity Research, FBN Capital, Mr. Bunmi Asaolu, gave a joint presentation With Gregory Kronsten Head of Macro-Economic Research FBN Capital, titled ‘The Economy and Markets’ Mr. Kronsten opened the presentation by linking the recession to the fall in supply of foreign exchange and the lack of a buffer of reserves. He noted that non-oil inflows are now higher than oil inflows and that they could and should grow substantially.

Mr. Bunmi Asaolu on his part stated that there was a strong double digit growth in revenue and Profit Before Tax (PBT), and triple digit growth for Payment After Tax (PAT), and that close to half of the of the PBT derived were from foreign exchange related gains.

A panel session comprising the MD of Secure ID, Mrs. Kofo Akinkugbe; MD of Unified Payments, Mr. Agada Apochi; MD of Presco, Mr. Felix Nwabuko; MD, GTI Group, Mr. Rahul Savara and MD of Verod Capital Management, Mr. Danladi Verheijen discussed ‘Capitalising on Disruptions to the Status Quo.’

The second panel discourse focusing on ‘A New Way of Thinking on Infrastructure Spend’ had the Senior Director Investment Group, AFC, Mr. Ato Gyasi; Lead Partner, Detail Commercial Solutions, Mr. Ayuli Jemide; Executive Director, ICRC, Engr. Chidi Izuwa and CFO of Seven Energy, Mr. Bruce Burrows as panelists.
