A family friend told my mom that a child not breastfeeding can be the work of 'awon aye'. She said the baby will be seeing a pair of eyes glaring at her when she tries to suck and that the remedy is a leaf used to wash the breast. Pls who has heard of this before and how true is it

I have no idea. But it sounds like a visit to your doctor is in order. If you are in Lagos, see a dermatologist (there are some I know, in private hospitals around VI/Festac/Lekki).

Godmother, babies refusing to nurse happens in every continent on the planet. So whilst I fully believe that Indians and Brazilians are throwing juju against breastfeeding, I have no explanation for Dutch, American and British women doing so. So "awon aye" is a myth.

My nephews were like this, it is a common complaint. It may be the shape of nipple or the flow is not fast enough for her. Don't stress it.

Mamas in the house I gave birth last week via emergency cs and my dad came out sick. She was rushed to the nursery and I didnt see her for 3 days during which time she was bottle fed.

When I finally saw her sef my breast didn't rush so I continued to feed with baby food. Now she is rejecting my breast. If I put her to it she screams until you remove and bottle feed. Pls what do I do to get her to accept the breast. Plus I have flat nipples but I was told if she starts sucking they will come out

Yeah, I even put a small hot towel (not too hot) on his nose and it helps to loosen up the mucus but getting it out is always the issue. Thanks

Mama the milk is flowing o, though not as I would want. I'll try your method cos its painful she doesn't suck. Went for check-up today at the hospital and saw other mothers breastfeeding, it was painful.

It is well with your baby rezzy I can't imagine what that poor baby is going thru He will overcome in Jesus name amen! please be strong dear.

Try and make sure you wash and sanitise your hands after every nappy change, adhere to a strict hygiene regimen because such stubborn bacteria could easily be transferred back to him from contaminated items.
Boil all feeding utensils and soak his clothes in disinfectant(plenty work I know ) but it will help to avoid him getting reinfected and make the treatment look like it's not working.

Has he taken his full rota dosage?

Rezzy your baby will be healed soonest in Jesus name. If you ain't seeing any improvement, you can get somewhere else and seek another pediatrician's opinion.
