Hedonistically: The way people are quick to come defend suspects here is really alarming. Whether it is being PDP or hater of PMB, or we are just corrupt in nature is really crazy. Are we aware of preclusion that is inherent in being a judge at all? Judges are not just another fellow on the street. Lives of other citizens are in their hands. Hence, there should be way above board. 18 million Naira as loan for a house abroad. In our hearts of heart, we know this is suspicious. I was going to say EFCC/DSS should not be rushing to press (nay, granting interviews) on issues that has not been landed. But someone already said it is because they are being criticised unnecessarily and need to be seen in good light. |

Geniro: Why not read before commenting. Where did u see the efcc "coming on air"? Is there any official comment quoted there Instead directing anger towards those that have destroyed the country some people will be looking for mundane silly and irrelevant tactics to assist corruption. But tomorrow u will claim govt is not developing ur village. Smh 2 Likes |

Geniro: In sane climes, an agent of government such as the EFCC, does a very meticulous investigation and comes up with concrete evidence, before proceeding to arrest, but here in Nigeria, the EFCC, will arrest, detain you, charge you to court, while investigation is still on. It's only in Nigeria that you'd hear an agent of government such as the EFCC say; "we're still building a case against him/her", and that's after someone has been arrested, media-tried and charged to court. It's also only in Nigeria, that an agent of government such as the EFCC will invite someone for questioning, with the hope of using their confessional statements against them in the court of law. Now back to the issue, someone can give another person a loan of 100million without papers or whatever, it all depends on the level of relationship, trust, or understanding between them. That a judge obtained a loan isn't a crime and it can never be termed an act of corruption, except it can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt that, the said money was paid as bribe. For the EFCC to try and twist the story in other to activate the ever active 'corruption-sentiment' of Nigerians, is at best a good effort that the gullible will fall for, but not for those who have critical minds and have risen above the sentimentalist and sensationalistic disposition of this government and it's agents. 2 Likes |

When my parents were in civil service they observed to the letter the rule against engaging in private practice or business. They were very careful not to soil their hands or break the rule. Of course those who simply ignored the rule put in place prospered better financially but usually to the collective loss of the larger society. The loss could be by the way of approving wrong projects for a fee or misappropriation of funds for drugs etc. The civil service ethics and code was put in place for a reason to prevent conflict of interest. For a judge to accept gratification without disclosure or paper work indicates intent to conceal. Those societies who observe in the main and uphold the sanctity of societal ethics usually do better while citizens from societies who make excuses and explain away ethical breaches as on this thread are usually messed up like ours. They want to escape the misery of their own societies by immigration to a place where ethics is upheld. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Geniro:/ In a sane society, any transfer of huge amount of money will draw the attention of Law Enforcement agents. They will want to know the source of the fund. If the owner cannot prove its legitimate source, the fund will be confiscated. The same goes for carrying or storing huge amount of cash. As a federal employee, goodluck proving that undocumented $45,000 (equivalent) is a gift. It goes against ethics. In Nigeria, anomalies are the custom while right is wrong. Most people from the 80's till today are being raised under this twisted notion making it impossible for any progressive change to occur in Nigeria: You cannot teach new tricks to old monkeys. / 1 Like 1 Share |

This is another BIG FAILURE for EFCC, toothless crocodiles, jawless hyneas; can't they just get their acts right before coming to the public. It is clear they don't have anything more against her, they would have stated ALL already, always presenting water-loss cases for the news. By the way what's wrong with the lady collecting a loan from a FAMILY FRIEND to sought her Mortage issues in the UK where she is a Citizen?, after all BUHARI declared cars and others as gift items from friends and family friends when he became president - SO THOSE WERE BRIBES TOO FOR OUR SAINT BUHARI abi?. What's 18m to an oil tycoon? peanuts. If EFCC can establish that the said MD had a case in her court or any court in Nigeria that is when I can listen to this story or let them get us another story that will last 2days, then another, then another later they face yahoo boys . |

InvertedHammer: The EFCC know the "legitimate" source of the cash and so far they haven't got anything on the parties involved. Why not do your homework and establish a premiss before blabbing off. We should be hearing more of EFCC arraigns Mr/Ms/Mrs XX in court for this and let the press report factual proceedings from the court room. |
