According to reports, the director of the school located in Ebang neighborhood, Yaounde, punishes the pupils by forcing them to kneel/crawl in the mud irrespective of how little they are. This is awful. See more photos after the cut... What is barbaric here? It is discipline my Dear OP. Some of us experienced it while in primary school. For some of us it was kneel down + flogging. Yes, it made lots of kids understand the importance of punctuality. 140 Likes 8 Shares |

TonyeBarcanista:I'm ashamed of this your post. This is 21st century and there are better ways of instilling discipline than this demeaning and reprehensible method. I won't accept this punishment or anything close to it for my children from any school. Modified* No need to quote me to spew nonsense such as "how old are you?". Or "I'm sure you have no children" and "this is how our children get spoiled without disciplining them". Just use pestle and planks on yours or throw them in oven all in the name of instilling discipline in them. End of story. 281 Likes 24 Shares |

Some teachers can be wicked. I was so excited on my first day at the primary school but had to ran back home cos I witnessed some senior students being punished. It took some efforts before my senior sis convinced me to go back. Some secondary school teachers even asked students to kneel and crawl on gravels as punishment for late coming and I remembered a particular teacher that'll specifically asked students to go and dip their buttocks in water before "yodi e" (show me your yansh) flogging. Those were the days students respect teachers not nowadays that teachers are afraid of their students. 31 Likes 2 Shares

These children will grow to hate schools. Sometimes it's not their fault they're late, especially when they are little. 30 Likes 1 Share |

This is barbaric! These children's lateness should be better blamed on their parents, school topography and government. Seeing the topography of the school, the area seems to be primitive and will likely take these children long distance to trek to school. Moreover, the soil is wet and muddy. Can't this make the children to be late also? We talk about being disciplinarian in Africa, yet it is not reflecting in our behavior when we become adult. 67 Likes 3 Shares |

eph12:Most of the time it's not the pupils fault. It's parent's and it's unfair to treat them badly for it. 18 Likes 3 Shares |

DropShot:Don't be ashamed bro, I'm reeling my experience and I don't consider it BARBARIC. There is nothing special about the 21st century, kneeling down is normal and has been working since 1900. No wonder kids of 19th and 20th century are more disciplined than some of our 21st century kids. Punctuality is the soul of business/professionalism. 66 Likes 5 Shares |

TonyeBarcanista:Bros., there are other ways of punishing them. Not by asking them to crawl on a muddy floor. Caning, or other punishments are still acceptable. Yes, this us actually barbaric. 5 Likes |

TonyeBarcanista:You didn't see any kid crawling but you read it! It's even evident from the image those kids are made to crawl with their knees. In any case, making kids kneel in mud is barbaric enough. Or does that make them become neater? 4 Likes |

U can call it barbaric because it's muddy, I agree but pls don't dare call that barbaric as a way of discipline for late coming.. By God's grace, all my male offspring will pass through NMS Zaria nd possibly NDA where they would enjoy more of discipline... 10 Likes 2 Shares |

This is the only issue i have gotten to agree with Drop shot, i see some people claiming this callous act is discipline so asking children to pass through Inhumane experiences is discipline in your words..chai. Africa upon all it's "discipline" is still the least developed continent, the most exposed to communicable diseases, the lowest mortality rate and highest maternity deaths Discipline indeed; i am sure many of u cant let ur kids go through this,i can bet that 48% of the students in that school are house-helps, nannies and people living with guardians if a teacher puts my son through this he/she might make it out with a few lost tooth, but if a teacher puts my daughter through this walahi either that teacher or myself will be under the sand before the next full moon cus this planet will not contain the both of us, THIS IS NOT A THREAT 7 Likes 1 Share |

FakoMaybach1: Bros, you don't know what you are talking about. Having taught in many schools in Southern Nigeria, I can tell you that you are VERY VERY HOPELESSLY WRONG. For those striving to make their kids hold his own tomorrow in this country as it is; that punishment up there is NOTHING! If you're trying to say they are all bad parents, that is another discussion for another thread. 5 Likes 1 Share |
