hello guys, I'm glad to be here finally, after the long wait, reading through part 1 through to this part.
I've this questions bothering me:

I have a Bsc in comp science , applied to a school in Michigan, but was surprised when the I20 letter arrived , I saw liberal Arts and Sciences, I became furious and wrote the school international student affairs officers,
and he replied that, that's the course they give at start, that when I resumed at the school, then I will be given my main major.
P.S: the course is Bsc.
now my questions and concerns :
will it be a red flag that I'm going for another Bsc degree and not same discipline as my former Bsc.? I've read about the liberal arts and Sciences online extensively and found out its even a lovely degree, as it's an Interdisciplinary course.
please help a brother as I hope to book an appointment soon.

Hi, i stand to be corrected on this. This also happened to me. Though mine was a Masters degree, i am not too sure the same applies to Bachelors degree. I applied for MSc Biomedical Engineering and it appeared as Material Science on my I-20. After mailing the department, i was told that Biomedical Engineering is categorized under Material science under SEVIS and that i should explain to the VO if i was asked. I was a bit worried about this but on my interview day, when i was asked what my plan was in the USA, i said i was going for my masters in BME to do so, so and so.... and no further question was asked. So its either the VOs are familiar with stuffs like that or she just did not see it. I do not think this would be a problem. Any other person that has gone through something similar might have something else to say. All the best!

Hi room,

I'm likely to have my interview next week and I would like to be sure if getting an itinerary ticket is wise or it's not that important for my interview
I am here to book your ticket dear. Go get your visa first. It's waiting. Good luck.

Hello ma'am. Been thinking of this, why don't we post the link for the GRE materials, toefl material and visa transcripts and any other thing on the first page of the thread so we just refer to the first page when the need arises. It'd be easier that way.
Someone with a spot on the first page can volunteer to modify his post.
My 2 cents.

Cheers.

If people want something then they should put in little effort to find it. U cant spoon feed people all the time....it took me less than 1 minute to find the link using the search button on top ..... i only did it self blc i had a free moment. These days i just ignore any post that has been frequently asked ....

Anybody that needs any info there is a search button on top. ...use it ooo

You can only go with where you are most comfortable with .... most naija students i know go to canada , i think mainly because one person went and it went smoothly so others flock there .

Thank you

HELLO GURUS IN THE HOUSE, PLS CAN INFINIX HOT NOTE WORK IN USA........... PLS AND PLS ANS ME

I have an Infinix Note 2 and while it works, its not exactly compatible with > 2G network frequencies here. This results in calls dropping, incoming calls going directly to voicemail, consistently unclear calls (at home, on the road, everywhere), data is forever on EDGE when my network already offers 4G, etc. I even changed network carriers thinking that was the problem but it didn't resolve it. That's been my experience. You can check this site for more specific information- http://willmyphonework.net/.

Its one thing to be desperate and another thing to be determined. I don't know much about the schools you listed but give it a shot by applying for positions (don't bother if they require 3.0 gpa minimum for the position). well just to encourage you, a buddy of mine who enrolled for masters at St. Cloud Uni this Fall, got a part-time (half) GA position recently, last week. When naira began to shake body, and he had outstanding tuition coupled with late fees, he got his game up. He met a Nigerian professor who knew another professor that needed a GA. the position was internal (it wasn't advertised) so my guy prepared his resume, applied and got shortlisted for the interview. Guess his gpa? 2.83 sad. He got the position!!. 60% Tuition bal cleared, just about 20% remaining. So whats the summary here? Yes, it will be difficult but being desperate wont get you funding. its good to cut your coat according to your size (I tell people this always), so even if you dont go in with funding, when you get to school, dont be downhearted, renew the vigor and you will achieve that which you seek!

Gurus in the house, please help me assess my profile for guidance:

CGPA: 2.87 / 4.0
Toefl: 102
GRE :300
Interested in MA/MS ECONOMICS

I'm desperate for funding and specifically looking for schools that accept WES evaluation.

Here's my tentative list of schools, please advise:

Illinois state university
Eastern Illinois university
SUNY University at Buffalo
SUNY Buffalo state college
Missouri state university
Central Michigan university

sounds like an agent affiliated school. Do the hardwork and apply to more prominent schools

What do u guys think about American University, Washington? I rarely see the name of this school on this trend. Thinking of pursing Master's degree there. Hoping it would be a good choice.

Which take do you want to know? Check the Animal Science websites of the schools you listed. PhDs are usually funded. Or What specifically do you want to know?

that was exactly what I put in for, tho Bsc. Information systems before d I20 came and I saw Liberal Arts and Sciences. Nb: it's 36months and not 4years. and findings shows that the LAS degree covers both computer science, info systems and other humanities course.

The bold is typical of BSC even in Nigeria . during the duration of bsc , students cover a variety of courses and related courses to the degree. ... so its not unique to LAS

Your GPA is not good, you GRE is not particularly awesome, I won't knock your hustle but unless you can craft one hell of a SOP, your funding is a long shot... That been said forget Illinois State University they might not even admit you not to talk of funding, I trust Professor Mohammadi ... EIU is the only school on that list where you have a minor shot if any at all for funding... You want honest... I just gave you honest
