Khedira is a better dribbler than Onazi and Khedira does key passes in front of the opponents 18 yard box than Onazi. They are not the same kind of players.

Khedira keeps it simple. Part of the reason Madrid got rid of him was due to his over simplicity.
As a matter of fact opta stats show that khedira attempted just 39. 2 passes per game over a period of five seasons.
Khedira has never been a flashy player.

Most people don't know it was a choice between him and Emre Can when Liverpool wanted to beef up their midfield.
Liverpool offered Lazio Fabio Borini in exchange for Onazi, the deal didn't work out in the end.
If he was as bad as people believe he won't be highly thought of by such a big club.

I've given instances where I mentioned his time at Madrid pairing with Alonso.
Now at Juve he has a technically excellent Miralem Pjanic. Khedira neve does the fancy stuff pls.

It baffles me when I have to repeat the same thing over and over again. I have put Onazi in most of my list. I have repeatedly said, Onazi blows me away with his defending.

However, my problem is that I want us to have a passing cohesive unit. Just like if you have a player like Mikel in defensive midfield, you see him moving the ball with simple passes. Sometimes, unlocks defences with a clever long ball.

I do not see Onazi as this kind of player. I see Ndidi as that. Unfortunately, I am not ready to start browsing all night looking for stats to prove it.

I watched lots of possessive teams and I hope we build a high passing four.

I am not comparing Ndidi with Onazi in the same playing pattern. Xabi Alonso does not play four like Makalele.

Considering a pattern of football I feel the Super Eagles is heading to, we need a brilliant passing four.

Defence With Balogun, Omeruo And Ndidi In
Focus



In his bid to nip the threat of Riyad Mahrez and
Islam Slimani in the bud, coach of the Super
Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr will begin work with the defence of the Nigerian team.


Rohr will from tomorrow take the trio of Leon
Balogun, Wilfred Ndidi and Kenneth Omeruo on
special defensive drills ahead of the November 12 tie in Uyo.


Injury ruled Balogun out of the 2-1 win over
Zambia, and in his absence Omeruo paired with
William Troost Ekong but Ekong is yet to arrive
camp as at the time of filing in this report putting his participation in tomorrow’s session in doubt.


Ekong is the only central defender to have played the two competitive game Rohr has handled the Super Eagles, but the experienced duo of Balogun and Omeruo could see him drop out of the starting line up.


Meanwhile Ndidi who played as a right back away in Ndola, will be a part of the session as well as the Genk man who is also comfortable as a central defender or a defensive midfielder is
already in camp.

Good point but u know what i always based my assessment of any team on their last match,my main assessment for Algeria is Zambia match and our major issue is RB and LB,so i don't see any reason for some people calling for Onazi's head.

Yes i quite agreed with u that the team is moving towards a possessive team that we need a DM that can dictate d pace with good passes,hold on to ball just like d way Mikel does it.

I believe by the time we reach that stage,Rohr as a coach w tell us may be Onazi is needed or not but from my own perspective Onazi is d answer to Mikel style of play(vice versa)cos now we have great foot guys in Mikel,Iwobi and Iheanacho(Xavi,Iniesta and Messi)

pls watch Zambia match again and u w understand what am saying,our new IMI(iwobi,Mikel and iheanacho) w destroy any team
