Algeria's full-back Faouzi Ghoulam - Now an injury doubt

An injury crisis has hit Algeria with no fewer than four key players doubtful for Saturday’s World Cup showdown in Nigeria.


Faouzi Ghoulam, Ryad Boudebouz, Hilal Soudani and Rachid Ghezzal are all uncertain for the match due to injuries.


Ghoulam and Boudebouz played for their clubs Napoli and Montpellier respectively this past weekend, but joined the training camp Sunday with abductor problems.


Incidentally, Boudebouz was man of the match after he netted a brace for French club Montpellier.


Dynamo Zagbreb striker Soudani and Ghezzal from Lyon did not even feature for their clubs this past weekend on account of injury.


Last-minute call-up and Angers of France defender Mehdi Tahrat is also nursing a groin problem and so did not feature for his club in their last game.


Top stars Islam Slimani and Nabil Bentaleb have also endured injury scares most recently.


Leicester City striker Slimani missed two matches due to injury, while Bentaleb hurt his knee in action for German club Schalke 04 before he recovered in time on Sunday to fire his fifth goal in six matches on loan from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

@zuchyblink, don't be surprised if doesn't start in d attack, we HV only four slots there one is iwobi, d other iheanacho, d number 9 slot is definetly between ighal and ideye, d only slot left I think moses would take it due to his form for chelsea , so I see musa on d bench. dats my opinion though

Honestly, I am suspecting these Algerians... Dem dey fear abeg. See as many of their players dey withdraw one by one....

-Boudebouz (ruled out): he's a very important player in their midfield. They still have Bentaleb and Feghouli shaa... And Taider.

-Ghezzal (ruled out)

-Ounas (ruled out)

-Faouzi Ghoulam (50-50 fitness... Hope he's not ruled out)

Even Leekens is growing old trying to reason how to stop our attack which according to him is "World Class".

Just recently, on sunday, the Algerian FA boss cautioned the Likes of Mahrez and co to plss stop talking too much as they should focus on doing the talking on the pitch (they've been talking tough in their local media).

See ehn.... These Algerians should just forget it. They will be tough but I forsee a good win for Nigeria. A very good win.

hope the rohr led technical crew impresses on the players not to get complacent just because we are hearing that the algerians are getting injuries here and there. don't understand why etebo and alampasu are coming in late. for young players that want to make an impression this is simply not good enough. hope it's not that elderson is carrying a knock.

my preliminary line-up all things being equal will be

1. Akpeyi 2. Omeruo 3. Elderson (if fit) 4. Ekong 5. Balogun 6. Ndidi 7. Onazi 8. Mikel 9. victor moses 10. iwobi 11. iheanacho

Good point but u know what i always based my assessment of any team on their last match,my main assessment for Algeria is Zambia match and our major issue is RB and LB,so i don't see any reason for some people calling for Onazi's head.

Yes i quite agreed with u that the team is moving towards a possessive team that we need a DM that can dictate d pace with good passes,hold on to ball just like d way Mikel does it.

I believe by the time we reach that stage,Rohr as a coach w tell us may be Onazi is needed or not but from my own perspective Onazi is d answer to Mikel style of play(vice versa)cos now we have great foot guys in Mikel,Iwobi and Iheanacho(Xavi,Iniesta and Messi)
