doing this will danage the charcoal canister beware

It has a flow valve that stops liquid fuel from flooding it. Unless the valve is bad, then the flooding will happen.

GAZZUZZ, in need some advice on my car (EOD) ASAP.

Last weekend before i traveled from Abj to Zaria, my exhaust was leaking so i checked and found the "exhaust cone" badwhich was replaced. Before i arrived Zaria the exhaust was leaking again, and this time with a serious loss of power as i was driving with AC and full passengers. I also got a P0172 (system too rich) for the very first time with no leads.

I got another set of spark plugs and the loss of power was addressed but not for long. I lost power again by the time i arrived Abj on Sunday.

I have been suspecting i have a blocked CAT which i didn't mention to my mechani. Today i took it to him to fix the cone but he had another opinion to check the exhaust for blockage. He covered the exhaust with his hands while i revved the engine, the whole exhaust comes out at the cone position with very little pressure at the tail pipe.

Now, i dont know if i can afford another CAT and dont want more exhaust sound from gutting the CAT or having a permanent CEL. Note i have been having P0142 for a long time. I remember a thread long ago on NL about welding a straight pipe instead of a gutted CAT for noise reduction.

What is your opinion as our general oga.

I need to work on the car first thing tomorrow.

Unblock your exhaust ASAP better driving with codes than busting up your engine with blow back.

The whole exhaust was brought down and the first half of the CAT was removed, it was considerably blocked.

It was difficult for them unscrewing the O2 sensor but they did at the end. Upon starting the car i had a CEL from P0141 which probably they damaged the sensor. I know they didn't disconnect the connector which is located inside the cabin. Am not happy about the sensor but feel safer for my engine. I also have a little deeper exhaust sound and more horsepower. In fact my gear shifting is smoother than it was.

What is the difference between a synthetic blend 5w30 and a full synthetic 5w30? will a synthetic blend last up to 6 months on a car without causing sludge? which one is better?

please to the gurus in the house please Nissan pathfinder 1996 is giving me issues
firstly it was formerly bringing out black smoke from the exhaust but now its much of white smoke
secondly it has been long I have serviced the gear I observed the gear won't change until I remove my foot from the throttle And press again

undecided which one is more expensive? wink

A synthetic blend, is a mixture of mineral and synthetic oils, usually a 30/70 mix, 30being synthetic and 70mineral.

About how long it would last in your engine, im not an authority in synthetic blends. But I can talk about advanced full synthetic mobil 1 from USA.

So when a manual says use 5w30 for xxxx miles or 6 months , it doesn't matter if the 5w30 is synthetic blend or full synthetic.?

dear Gazzuz

my honda CRV 1999 has been acting up..idling, delays for a few seconds before it shifts to gear 2. and guzzles fuel like no man's business.
so I decided to have a scan done on it.
the codes were in this order
1.P0325
2.p0135
3.p1337
4.p0370

I discovered that a mechanic had disconnected the o2 sensor.

Please your advise

1.P0325 Knock sensor
2.p0135 O2 sensor
3.p1337 Crank shaft position sensor
4.p0370 Timing off by a few degrees.

Did you recently change timing belts? Or did you remove the timing belt and put it back?

Make I share the story of how my village people take mess me up last week.

I took my car to an area of sango and got some dirts in my engine bay, plus oil stains before, everything looks messy and I decided to go for an engine wash. grin

Na so we start. The guy wash am wella, the engine sweet me, I no fit lie, so freaky clean, the guy even clean radiator for me(source of my problem). I paid this guy extra for job well done.

I drove from there to my office, parked the car from 2pm till 7pm and after work in the evening, started the car and I was feeling myself(little did I know the devil has packaged some mischief)

I rolled my glass up, put on my ac and went driving on the 3rd mainland and making sure I overtook every other car. Suddenly, ac no cold again, I switched it off and continued cruising at the top speed, I now thought, guy, put the ac back on again jo, I did this as the thing dry sweet me.(mistake was, I didn't check my dash to know what could have gone wrong and why ac wasn't cooling)..

few minutes later, my engine loosed power, ghenghen, on top speed, for car wash area, hot zone where boys dey rob, na him I panic push am for between fast moving vehicles to a side of the road, where a good Samaritan who was riding a bike used his leg to push the car for me.

I parked at ogudu, confused, didn't know what's up, noticed it had overheated, but I didn't know the cause. I was confidant of my radiator filled with water, and the devil advised me to put engine oil in car, probably it was my oil that had leaked out, cos I got an oil light on dash just before shut down.(very stupid decision)

I did this, stared the car and I started moving again, now, I noticed smoke from the tail pipe, got scared thinking the car was on fire cos of light reflection on smoke, I parked on ketu bridge, just before seven up and the car shut itself down.

I towed the car home, after all efforts to start it again proved abortive.

Na so we start diagnosis o, we tried starting the car, but it didnt, finally, we discovered I had a bad head gasket, reason, my engine wash guy had punctured my radiator with his pressure pipe, and coolant had leaked out through that cry, I got the gasket changed, drained extra oil, changed spark plugs and the car didn't start until after a long time.

Now, the performance never remained the same again, shuddering, delay acceleration, very poor fuel economy,

More things, had gotten damaged, bad ignition coil, bad ignition nozzles, bad air intake sensor, faulty fuel regulator. All information from scan.
Now I had almost ran mad, cleaned throttle body, and everything.

At last, the car Has normalised, now performs very perfectly and even more than before.

Lesson learnt.

That pressure wash is actually horrible.

I was at my mechanic the other day when a guy with a 2010 VW passat finished his service and wanted recommendations on which car wash to visit for engine wash. He was advised not to try it for some time or atleast don't go to the guys accross the road. Next thing was the car was across the road, water spraying at high pressure on his engine.

Fast forward, a month later the car never left there and was pushed back to the mechs. I never use the electrician in this workshop as I see him as the greediest illiterate Mech. The car refused to start and the battery ran down. All batteries in the workshop ran down except mine which I refused giving. Next thing this mechanic did the unthinkable, he went and rented 2 100Ah truck batteries. He kept kicking till I called him after the first battery died and told him you are only going to fry the starter motor which he ignored. I warned him if it were my car, he will certainly pay for my starter motor if he insist on doing this. Intact I told him to his face I will never let him repair my car or any car in my parents house.

2 mins later, it was over with a burnt starter motor.

Any ways I only do hand wash on my engine. I have had problems with VTEC solenoid few times after washing. I currently have the problem intermittently after last wash. It sets off limb mode on my car.

hello house, i have a little issue. my passat b5 timing belt cut. when it was fixed. i discovered it wont start. my mechanic said 7 valves were bent. my self and my mechanic went to the market but could not find the valves. we had to take the top cylinder to ontisha to get it. we coupled it but the car was idling roughly. i then took the car for scanning and the camshaft sensor p0340 code came up. at this time the car has to be started 3 to 4 times before it comes on. i have changed to camshaft and crank shaft sensors. the car idles normally but it still takes 2 to 3 attempts to start the car. now my mechanic is saying the key switch is bad. but i scan the car and no code is coming up. would you agree with the key switch theory?

Kindly explain the likely solution to the following codes.

Car shows ABS, Brake and check Engine.

C0200 - Front speed sensor RH Circuit

C0205 - Front speed sensor LH Circuit

C1236 - Foreign object is attached on tip of front speed sensor LH

C1241 - Low or High Power Supply Voltage

Car is Toyota Yaris 2008 (Automatic)
