Personal arrangement determined by who? The federal government? Pls elucidate.

Ooni is the most powerful Traditional Ruler in the South considering his strength and size of his Domain the SW.

The same strength the Sultan of Sokoto is currently enjoying in the North.

Ovokoo abi wat do you call yourself. . Its obvious that you're a benin man thats why you rate the oba over d ooni.
The fact that you treat him like a semi god does not make the oba of benin higher in any way than the ooni of ife..

OP, you must be a joker. For your info, the Muslims in Nigeria are not up to 70 million. Quote me anywhere! Secondly, no traditional ruler in this country is powerful cos we are not a monarchy neither are we a theocracy. They're merely ceremonial cos they can be removed from office by the government of the day at anytime. They are merely used by people in government as vessels of deceit, suppression and oppression of the poor masses. So your thread is meaningless and in bad faith. Why don't you look for a more meaningful topic to open a thread on? You are a tribal bigot looking for ways to throw up ethnic rancour on this forum. Nonsense!

I agree with you here. No king has any influence beyond his domain. They may be better recognised because they have more wealth, a large kingdom or a certain history (i.e. Benin Kingdom). However, your list conforms to those who hold the most influence beyond their domain and within their geopolitical zones.

In the final analysis, every king is powerful only within his domain.

What are you saying? Try reason well pls. We are talking about the stool not the occupant.
Can't you pass your message without an iota of insult?
Clearly shows you are the one that needs to reason well when trying to pass a message, shows you neglected your home training, or lack how to address people.

Besides if its really about the stool alone then the Oni should be second as some one pointed out earlier.

OLU OF WARRI SHOULD BE ON THE LIST.

Stop this Olu of Warri BS. His kingdom is too small, he is not influential and the only thing he has is the history behind the Itsekiri monarchy. As far as Nigeria is concerned, Olu of Warri is not among top 10, maybe he may make top 20.

All kings are important to their people.

This categorization is rather irrelevant in modern times, though most are aware of the most prominent.

Is it based on history, area of influence, political influence or what?

Oba of Lagos for example may not have that famous history to draw on but certainly very influential in today's Nigeria.

Not to forget Emir of Borno that the British rated only second to Sultan of Sokoto in the North in colonial times.

Olu of Warri, Obi of Onitsha, Olowo of Owo, Olubadan, Deji of Akure, Obong of Calabar, Dein of Agbor, Emir of Bida, Tor Tiv, Emir of Borgu among others are prominent too.
