As shared by AbiaOnline..... 'The Member representing Arochukwu /Ohafia Federal Constituency has called for peaceful co-existence between the Farmers and Fulani Herdsmen. He made the appeal at the village hall of Ndiokereke Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, following the unfortunate and unanticipated attack by the herdsmen on some indigenes at a rice Farm. Hon Uko who ran back to the village when the news got to him, hinted that he was on a fact finding mission to see things for himself and to ascertain the extent of damage as well as to calm down the tension in order to proffer a solution. The Federal lawmaker in company of the Security Adviser to Abia State Governor , Retired Captain Awa Agwu visited some of the victims at the health centre where they are receiving treatment for various degrees of machete cut inflicted on them during the attack. Nkole paid their hospital bills and urged the officer in charge at the centre to ensure the victims get all the necessary medicare . Nkole also visited Mrs Jonah from Ndi Agwu Abam and her little daughter that had 3rd degree burns at the same hospital. It could be recalled that Hon. Nkole earlier made a cash donation to upset part of her medical bills. He promised to assist in facilitating their further treatment at the Orthopaedic hospital in Enugu based on Doctor's referral. He further pleads that the state government and other philanthropists attend to the SOS in respect of the victims. Some of the victims who are settlers include Ezekiel Ebong who hails from Akwa Ibom state and Amos Omoro from Bayelsa State, called on the government to check the activities of the herdsmen so as to sustain the existing peace in the area. They thanked the honorable member for his prompt response and hinted that taken care of their medical bills is a big relief . And at the private hospital in Ohafia, Dr Bernard Orji said that the victims were beaten mercilessly and losing blood but the quick medical intervention saved the situation and they are recuperating. State Chairman, Miyetti Allah cattle breeders Hassan Buba expressed sadness over the incident and promised that it would not happen again. Hassan Buba who also had interactive session with the honourable, promised to gather all the Fulani in Abia State in an emergency meeting to fashion out the way forward for peaceful coexistence. Hassan urged all parties involved to always report incidents to the government authorities instead taking laws into their hands. The Special Adviser on security, Captain Awa Agwu Rtd, disclosed that the State government position on grazing is that Abia does not have enough land for grazing and that the government has allowed a level of understanding to prevail . The assurance that contact has been made with the law enforcement agencies to make sure that the fear of reprisal attack from the herdsmen would not arise, was a welcomed development as the State Chairman Miyetti Allah cattle breeders Hassan Buba also agreed to gather all the Fulani in Abia State in an emergency meeting to fashion out the way forward for peace to prevail. Hon Uko Nkole has assured that he would continue to do all things necessary with other legislators to ensure that such grievous incident which has become a national issue would be brought to a halt through a legislative framework that would protect the farmers as well as the Fulani herdsmen' Source: http://www.trezzyhelm.com/2016/11/hon-uko-nkolethe-member-representing.html

I always ask my self this question, How does someone who owns a herd of cattle that breeds amongst themselves, does not buy food to feed the cattle nor buy water for the cattle end up selling the cattle above 200 thousand naira? What expenses is he actually trying to make up for? Or is it just all profit. And you think this guy's know nothing about greed and business. 70 Likes 4 Shares |
