We will feel it when rice can be bought cheaper.
So no one has bought it yet? Has the price dropped in the market? I thought price had dropped in the market?
Re: Kebbi Surpasses One Million Tonnes Of Rice by Dimaya: 11:47pm On Nov 10, 2016
The rice farming is not done by individuals but mechanical. The harvesting is also mechanical. The bagging is also mechanical.

And yes Kebbi state's harvest can feed 20% of Nigerians. By 2018, their rice yield will feed the whole Nigeria.

Please remember the rice project is actually a joint venture between Kebbi State and Lagos State.

If Dangote can bag over 100million cement bags in a year, why can't the whole kebbo state bag 20million in a year. That is at the rate of 1000 bags daily at 60 bagging facilities

Its not about the number of picture you publish, we'll start celebrating only when a bag of rice is sold at between #8k- #10k. Anything beyond that = LIE MOHAMMED
Re: Kebbi Surpasses One Million Tonnes Of Rice by HAH: 11:50pm On Nov 10, 2016
Am a Buharist but truth be told Kebbi is being economical with the truth, cos if they have produced 1 million tonnes then it mean 1000000by 1000 which is 1billion kilogramme of rice now 1billion put into 50kg bags will be 20million bags.

The question is if Kebbi produced 20million bags of rice, if true 20million bad sold at 10k each will be 200billion.

From the above analogy Kebbi can live only on rice production cos it's annual budget is not up to 200billion.

I will be really impressed if what they claimed is true but I smell lies

Can you honestly believe Kebbi produced 20million 50kg bags of rice? Because that is what one million tonnes of rice is.

Seeing how you've taken it upon yourself to prove that this news isn't true, it's obvious that you are too shallow, so lack deep sense of thought. Even worse, you barely even know what you are arguing against. I bet you have no idea how big Kebbi is or how fertile her land is for rice production.

Factor in hatred and you're left with a man on a mission to self-implode. You must have wanted such news to emanate from Anambra. Only then must it be credible.

You stock too much hatred in one soul. It's bad business even for you.

ShinnBet Argument is simple.

If you produce and flood the Nigerian market with 20 million 50kg bags of rice, the law of demand and supply demands that the current price of local rice and indirectly foreign rice fall.

But has this happened?
No.

I'm sure that even Buharists here know that this news is fake. They are just jumping up and down here for jumping sake.

I went to market on Monday. The price of rice has not changed.

Its because u aren't owning a farm yet as an individual. u cant be blaming government all the time. agriculture is not a government thing. our negligence got us here. just saying

The problem with some of you people is that you see sense in nonsense when it appeals to your emotions.

It takes time for these changes to percolate through the entire economy. How much of that amount do you think has been put on the market already?

Even if all is today, with the same agents sabotaging the economy in the name of buying and selling, do you expect to see any change in the immediate future?

There's enough demand to mop up the excesses put on the market in the short term. It's not as if people aren't willing to buy. So flooding the market with rice wouldn't have the same effect as flood overunning a community.

Abi you expect the same people who still sell foreign rice at 22k to sell local one at 8k? No be them you go leave with those ones?

Long as the producers are still buying other stuff at exorbitant prices, you do not expect a bag of rice to sell at the same price as before.

Bros, even keg of palm wine don add money. It's a domino effect.

These are the reasons why it takes time to feel a change in price.

Worse still, prices are sticky-down. Especially in an economy like ours.

Abeg shut up

With the recession and high forex, local rice producers will make a fortune at the current rate for imported rice.

You expect them to wait until rice crash ?

Or do you think there is enough holding and processing facilities to handle 20million bags of rice in Kebbi?

Have you factored that unpolished rice is highly prone to mould and fungus?

Or have you not figured that the farmers can also look at exporting to gain much needed forex?

Even at that you can not rationalize how they produced 1,000,000 tonnes because that will amount to 20million 50kg bags.

Is that a realistic figure in your own perspective ?

So these 2 countries with crushing poverty that have free trade deals with EU to dump food in their doorsteps account for majority of the 20million bags of rice?

Let us wait for the CBN breakdown of rice exports for 2016.

Because I don't see how a nation that depends wholy on rice imports can turn in one year to a net exporter while still importing more foriegn rice.

You zombies sef, you guys reason with your anus

you end up contradicting yourself, you initially forget earlier that the main problem of nigeria is not just to farm but to preserve what will have farm.
yes kebbi can harvests 20 million bags of rice but we will not be able to preserve them for future use as done in Thailand

tomatoes yam plantain do you know how many tones we harvest, and we end up wasting large percentage every year just because we do not have industry and facility to process them.

and don't forget for every havast you do they will always be wastage if you do not use the right technology to harvest that will minimize waste.

so kebbi can harvest 1 million tones of rice but many will still end up as waste because we do no have the right technology for now to minimise our waste.

the foreign rice you eat is not fresh as dey are old stock range from 3-5 years in Storage facility, nigeria rice is fresh straight from the farm

this is the same reason i have dump foreign rice for nigeria rice, and i have been enjoying it

as we speak the last time i ask the cost of bag of foreign rice a man told me to bring 14.000 naira why another lady told me 15.000 but i have not verify this price from the market.

but i have been buying Nigeria rice for 80 naira per cup and dozen for 800 naira but i am still looking on where to get full bag of nigeria rice, foreign is 120 naira per cup and 1300 for dozen

for the past one month i have been eating Nigeria rice and i will never go back to foreign rice because naija rice na correct. and each time we go to the market the quality dey improve every day.

so leave internet go market to price or buy nigeria rice is every where

I'm from south south and i stay in South south if naija rice dey my state he go dey your own also.

That is where the scam exist.

That is in the area of saving a portion of production outputs as strategic reserves.

The ministry of Agric in conjunction with the state commission of Agric with selected farmers just come out with bogus figures of production and the FG buys a non existing percentage to store in non functional silos.

There is a reason why almost every politician from the north owns a registered farm

From fertiliser, seedling and cheap bank loans plus govt buy backs - you have a multimillion naira fraud going on in the Agric ministry being perpetuated exclusively in the north.
