Thanks for sharing your experience. I have some questions:
1) What was the medical diagnosis of your aunt's condition which led to her death? How long was she sick before she died?
2) Were you there when the woman confessed to killing your aunt while dying? If not, how are you sure that it is actually true?

Yea she was sick for more than a year. They were treating boil, later hospitals rejected her. They took her to every possible home.
The whole village heard confessing; youth wanted to lynch her but Oba prevailed on them because of her old age. She eventually died few weeks later. The evil deed has been done, because the aunty sickness and death generated bad blood between the inlaws who are from different villages.

Is it possible that the boils were caused by an incurable illness, such as HIV?AIDS? Might that explain why the hospitals later rejected her?

Were you there when she was confessing to the whole village? If not, who gave you this information? What led to the confession in the first place? Did she just wake up one morning with a death wish, or was she being beaten on the suspicion of being a witch when she 'confessed'?

What's your strong belief in their existence made based on? Could it be based on powerful local movies that you watched as a very young child?

That's a little bit harsh sire.

He was just giving you what he thinks or rather what he has heard or believe cause am sure you know every has a right to that... #JustSaying

Sorry, it wasn't meant to be harsh. I just want to find out why people believe witches are real, and to help them to examine those reasons.

Yea and the whole village. She said she was seeing ghost of people she had killed, she mentioned five people. She was given mild beaten due to her age. She died weeks later, but the deed was already done. It generated bad blood between the inlaws because they were from different villages

You can't still possibly be examining after all these years.

Why bother when you know you still don't believe it and see it as an avenue to ask Christians ludicrous questions?

It's not so hard for you to go on a quest for the supernatural, is it?

After all, you never saw a positron with your eyes. They just told you and you believed it. You saw scientific journals but you, yourself, have never seen or held one. You're no better than a Christian.

The questions were thrown at @seun but I''l like to give my opinion

Why do you doubt that one wouldn't believe? Do you doubt the power of your God to show one the "dark forces" that exist?

Its quite hard and frankly damn impossible to quest for the supernatural. The word supernatural means something that is beyond nature. How can man explain it. Every attempt by creationist to explain the supernatural (God) is false and their "holy books" is their only reference. Scientific laws are only accepted if and only if they have been tested with all(and different) variables and can be repeated over and over again. Scientist aren't looking for god, we are just trying to answer the question "why are we here?" and have simply rejected the seemingly convenient answer given to us by creationist.

I for one have never seen a positron but I have seen its application, and numbers don't lie (I know the physics behind it). The positron annihilation spectroscopy is used to detect flaws in solid objects (among other uses). Every time its put to the test, it delivers. It doesn't cherry pick when it would function, I can't say the same for your god.

I thought people who place so much stock in science believe in investigation and evidence, proof, etc?

If you want to know more about the supernatural, don't ask people. Put your two feet in the water. Unless your scared to.

You've not seen the stuff science tells you exists. Why are you scared of taking the same approach with the supernatural?

While you've taken time to answer this, your seun of atheism instead focused on a line of my comment.

Why can't you guys answer all the questions?

Science told you positrons exist, you haven't seen them. They keep performing experiments and ascribing it to these positrons. You don't really know the mechanism or if what they say is actually true, because what they call evidence you have never seen yourself, millions of people have never seen it. Just a deluded set. They fed you a means of approaching positrons and you believe it, but could it be possible something else is actually responsible for what they call positrons? After all, it's a few people who have seen these things and are telling the populace everything. What you have is hearsay. Too much scientific babble from childhood accumulating. Pretty much the same way they told everybody the world was flat. And that humors flowed in the body.

If you've not seen it yourself, if it isn't visible to ones eyes, if you can't touch it, can't taste it, can't smell it, if a few people claim to have knowledge and/or evidence on it while you don't, it is unexplainable, it doesn't exist. This is the approach of atheists to religion, why can't atheists apply it to everything else? A bit selective.

You cannot rule out the supernatural.

There are things you can see and things you can't. There is a conscious and subconscious. There are other universes. There are other beings that do not have to exist on our same plane of existence, they don't have to follow our rules.

Why do you need to ask why you are here? What do you think the answer might be? Curious.

The scientific method is applied to everything science deals with. "Holy books" on the other hand claim to know what is and have several times in the past proved themselves wrong. One of the beauty about science is that it is subject to change. If more evidence about a theory proves the theory is wrong, we do not just blow these evidence off, rather we experiment more so as to know the truth.

Many have not seen the positron but its application is undeniable. Same with your god, many have not seen it but I dare them to prove his existence. According to the bible(old testament) god would prove itself when questioned/challenged. Why does that not happen anymore. Science is never scared of confrontations. Actually it strives to be seen, to clear all existing doubts.

Actually its the bible that said the world was flat, philosophy suggested otherwise and science proved the earth is indeed spherical.

Btw I know the physics behind positrons, I just haven't had the opportunity to experiment with it because of the limited technology in Nigeria.

The Bible never said the world was flat. I think there has been a failure to investigate that properly.(Can we please not talk about Christianity as if it's the only religion?)

What exactly does science deal with? Would you not agree that science attempting to unravel the subconscious and thought patterns is an attempt to touch one of those invisible things that religionists claim to hold superior knowledge on? Is it matter or the inner man that science after? What is the inner man, that nameless substance that makes each individual unique? What is that unseen thing that leaves a body when it is dead? The thing that sums up the man? The thing that laughs at jokes and weeps in itself?

If we are to treat science the same way religion is treated, nobody would believe in it. One moment it's one thing then the next it changes. It's not consistent. It's just like religion, according to atheists.

Now, until we can adequately quantify positrons by means that laymen can understand, not the clerics of science(professors, scientists, etc), it doesn't exist because we've never seen them. It's just a few who claim these things. They must be hallucinating.

The above is the general atheist approach to religion. And it seems ridiculous.

We have heard of the theory/physics behind positrons, but we personally have never seen them prove their existence before our eyes.

PS: It will take many years before Nigerians will get to the stage of viewing particles. If ever.

Previously you mentioned that scientists ask the question, "why are we here?" I'm not going to preach to you, but why do you feel that's what science seeks? And what do you think the answer is?

I talk about all religion, christianity and islam have the most followers in Nigeria and christians are more on NL than any other! I often refer to "religious groups" and their "holy books"

To the questions in your second paragraph? Aren't you talking about the brain? When the brain stops function, there goes the man too (at least for now). Studies are being carried out to make computers act like the brain would.

I've posted biblical verses that show the earth is flat. I'll post it on here, later for you, ok!

If you have a loads of cash, you can actually see the positron. Several universities including Caltech carry out paid viewing. Its just expensive. No one has seen god. Your bible says so!

Science attempts to unravel everything and once it unravels a thing, that thing cannot be classified as "supernatural" anymore.

As I said earlier Science changes based on new evidence unlike religion that holds to its belief despite shattering proof.

I haven't figured out the most correct answer to the question "why are we here?" But I reject the convenient answers in religious text. I'll rather live my life for myself, and to further prosperity of humanity until I find a "more accurate" answer!

You seem quite intelligent, can you prove to me that your god exists? I'll send you my email so we do not go off topic here!

I'm relieved that you refer to all religions. The reason I stated that was because most Nigerian atheists seem to only have a grudge with Christianity(probably because they were once Christians).

It must be very strange and impossible to have up to half of the world's population hallucinating the same supernatural belief at the same time, independent of location, religion and year. There are those who never learned of it but still experience/experienced it. If you must admit it, that is strange.

I am not talking about the brain. I'm talking of the essence of a living thing. When a person dies some bodily functions continue until that unseen thing that held the joy and laughter of that person vanishes. Science tells us that energy is changed from one form to another, where does that peculiar life energy go to when people expire? Where is it recycled to for future use? Where do the dreams and hopes of that person go? The reason a computer can't act or think like a human is because of that thing that gives man choices, that conscious undetectable thing that inhabits a body until it has no life in it again.

When scientists began to delve into the subconscious and ideas such as mind reading, it made purists balk. Science is good at explaining the world around us but it cannot handle things that have different spatial measurements, things that are beyond its hold, things that do not exist under its rules. That thing of which I speak can never be put under an electron microscope, weighed, it's quanta can never be determined, it will remain to baffle those who do not wish to see it for what it is. I may not have the right words to convey what I am trying to describe, but this thing is like a matrix.

If you check my posts on religion, I do not aim to prove that God exists to people who refuse to believe it. We can go on for years and nobody would've changed their opinions. I thought atheists would give life a deeper meaning and put more thought into the things they don't understand about religion, that's all. I find that most atheists are scared think outside of the world of abstract figures, afraid of getting contagion from the thoughts of theists, so that they fail to treat all things equally. The more intelligent ones usually shift to agnosticism after a while.

The most I can do is tell you that God exists.

If the seen exists, the unseen must exist too. Everything is about balance.

I do not think that is something to deliberate on.

Do you honestly believe that the woman in this story must have been a witch? The comment she made seems innocent to me. Someone could approach you and say something like that without any malicious intent. If she intended to kill the child, why would she make a statement that would implicate her on the same day? Also, while the death of the child may have seemed mysterious to your grandmother, he might have bern sick for some time before he died. Your grandfather probably stopped your grandmother from fighting the accused woman because he knew that she was not to blame for the death of his son.
