temmyo:When I read the original post, I gave it a liberal interpretation. Methinks people just go into sematics a lot. What I took away from the question was the secret fear of every user of this thread 'What's our fate now that the Birther right hater has won'? Mayb the other responder didn't use his terms right. I also understood his use of the term 'illegal immigrant'. Next thing a whole argument ensues and folks are calling other folks olodos. SMH. I personally was tired from reading all the back and forth because the issue still remains. There is a real and iminent danger of the law being repealed and that is the issue I see. Attacking personalities won't do much . Thanks for your pov 1 Like |

temmyo:U have said it all, Changing a constitution as big as 14th amendment requires a lot because its not only about citizenship by birth but also, naturalization, civil rights, human rights, etc. In 1993 senator Harry Reid from Nevada now the US minority Leader has tried to stop it through the senate, but the bill didnt go anywhere and he Later apologized in a speech in 2006 that it was the highest mistake he has ever made and in the Current congress, King has introduced it in the House and senator David Vitter of Louisiana,a Republican senator has done the same in the senate but their bills doesn't go anywhere beyond introduction. The interpretation is that it will not be easy to change because some said u have to change the constitution to do that and changing a constitution in the US is never easy, while some said u can do it through congress and senators. So first of all the supreme court has to rule on how to change it first before any procedure to change it will begin. So even if Trump wants to do that it might take the whole of his first term in the Office to do that, and it can never be easy to achieve that, which he might eventually fail.So for now all is fine for everyone,Nothing mega! 8 Likes |

LadyGuinivere: Calling him/her olodo was on a lighter note and was not intended to be derogatory...even the original poster didn't complain because he/she understood it was a joke. We shouldn't take things too seriously....life is not that hard. 11 Likes |

lobus: You look at the land mass while the uk government looks at the population that they can manage without putting too much pressure on their infrastructures. The population of UK is around 60 million. US is about six times UK"s population. Of course uk is not over populated. Only London is. We are more than 160 million in Nigeria. A country of more or less the land mass of the same UK. So it's not about land mass. |

LadyGuinivere: Yes, there is a real danger of the law being repealed and so forth, but I do not think its going to be that imminent. Firstly, like Austine2020 has said the process would actually take some time to be carried out. Dona is not just going to issue some decree and everything would fall in place. It needs to go through proper channels, through the legislature and all and that would take time. I also don't think that would be the 1st thing on his to-do list (although it certainly would rank high) so it might take like 6 months to a year before he gets round to it. Secondly,I believe Thirdly, even if he repeals the law, he cant do it retroactively i.e He cant say that all those who where granted citizenship that way are no longer citizens. The change would take effect from the day it is signed into law. The way I see it, we still have at least a year before anything happens on that front. So, if you have had your LO before then, congrats to you. If you were thinking of taking a break before the next one; rethink oo, sharply grab your partner and ur ovulation calender/apps and time the deed NOW NOW.... The goal must be scored, we are fast approaching injury time 31 Likes |

Their landmass is nowhere near ours. Landmass to population ratio makes the UK more populated than Nigeria. |
