Can you pls name any location that has more manual cars than auto in Nigeria.....coz u guys are feeling like don here now on top stress, why would I prefer manual to auto? Now that all these exotic cars are automatic......De gear ko, Courtois ni undecided

Well, for your education - every car that is made comes in a combination of options .... Manual or automatic, diesel or petrol/gas. No sane manufacturer will produce only automatic or manual cars. In europe, diesel automatic cars are predominant it will take you a while to find a cluster of automatic/petrol cars as opposed to manual/diesel cars that are all over the place.

The brakes?

A lot of Nairalanders are opposite in reality . How can one use brake and gas to engage gear 1 in a manual transmission? and so many other people who dream of learning how to drive one day clicked like sad.

I never said it doesn't happen_ maybe you have to go read again.
I said the probability of it happening is very low. I have been driving for 7yrs and just once have I had to help a friend drive his manual...this was in 2013.
It has been 3yrs now, no one around me owns a manual, save office cars. I definitely won't be the one to drive that.
No one has blocked my car or any of this hackneyed analogy you guys put up. Once again, the probability of it happening is LOW_VERY LOW.

Them say we no fit drive.....wetin we come dey do with the steering?
No mind them.
They're all shifting goal post. They should define driving for me and leave story.
Block your car indeed...just one person it has happened to o, the rest na 'a friend'.Torr!

If you drive only automatic, it's not about superiority... just about the fact that I can drive both, and you can't, or at least not safely.

Op Don't mind the manual drivers, they are always jealous because deep down, they wish they have access to the modern automatic drive.

In fact the feigned "superiority complex" is actually a reverse psychology of INFERIORITY COMPLEX.

This is so hilarious!!!
I saw the sacarcsm there!!!

Note that I learnt with a manual but I prefer auto!!

Vince77 can you jump start an automatic vehicle? Just curious to know.

Depends on the type of automatic tranny in the vehicle
For example you can jumpstart a 1987 mercedes benz 230E (Automatic) by putting in in neutral then towstart(push d car) it, then shifting it back to 3 or 2 and returning to neutral after the engine has started to prevent damaging the tranny

Driving a shift puts you in control of your automobile, and there's nothing as pleasant as upshifting and downshifting to the rhythm of the traffic and the beats from your stereo. However, it's my love for race cars that made me prefer the manual tranny. I have watched the Dakar Rally and F1 from childhood, coupled with the fact that you could go through all 5 gears 20 seconds flat. All my cars are going to be manual tranny, hate it or love it.

Well manufacturers are not sane then, after 2013 most high performance cars come in only automatic! #TeamManual #ReEducation

Being a good driver have nothing to do with Manual or automatic car. A good driver is one who can maintain his car properly and keep it Dent free.
Re: Manual Drivers, Why The Superiority Complex? by teemswest(m): 3:00pm On Nov 12, 2016
I like manual when shifting gear u feel like f1 Hamilton adrenaline Rush auto is also cool easy life but no connection between u and the Car.
I prefer automatic car for doing burnout tire's because its easy compared to manual then for day drift give it to manual .
Re: Manual Drivers, Why The Superiority Complex? by gonkin(m): 3:33pm On Nov 12, 2016
I learnt how to drive ON MY OWN with an auto transmission.
Pedal control and steering control. Brakes and concentration.

All i did to later drive a manual was read a book on clutch and watch some youtube videos

The first manual i ever drove has bad brakes, and i diddn't collide with any other. That same day i personally bleeded the brakes and shifted gears like i was a racer in fast and Furious.

Learnt manual has quicker acceleration but i would take automatic any day any time any where. Cuz i drive an auto like its truely automatic. How would u feel if u saw a car moving and nobody's on the driving seat. I do that alot but on mpv and bus like vehicles.

What are you saying? I would pick a manual car over an automatic car without thinking twice. There is no fun in driving if you don't have a gear to shift.

not jst abt shifting gears, i enjoy driving more due to speed. Check it out, sitting comfortably with less work cruising. Auto's da bomb. Mind u there are now semi auto cars which lets u change gear yourself without pressing down any clutch.

Lol.
They always come up with this analogy.
Does it play out like this in reality? How many people around you have manuals that it will be the only car available? cheesy

Actually a lot of people own manuals and manuals are not necessarily cheaper. I have had a number of emergencies where I've had to drive manuals instead of my auto... imo versatility is important

That is not the question.
Are there more manual than automatics on the Nigerian road(s)?
No...simple

Yes, most manual cars are cheaper_ especially fairly used. I know what I went through to sell my manual car.

You can only drive your own auto...

Egbon I use both transmission systems, there's just something about manual.

i have this feeeling that the manual cars u've driven are those 1965 model 504's and volvos tongue (that was on a lighter note though)
