ALGERIA NAME TEAM VS NIGERIA, MAHREZ, SLIMANI TO START Islam Slimani of Algeria Leicester City stars Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani are expected to start for Algeria in tomorrow’s world Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo. Several reports have indicated that coach Georges Leekens will go for a 4-3-3 formation with Mahrez and FC Porto star Yacine Brahimi running the flanks for top striker Slimani. On-form Schalke 04 midfielder Nabil Bentaleb will lead an offensive engine room that also has Saphi Taider with Carl Medjani (CD Leganes,Spain) as a defensive screen for a four-man defence of full backs Faouzi Ghoulam, Mohamed Ziti as well as central defenders Hicham Belkaroui (Esperance of Tunisia) and Aissa Mandi (Real Betis). Algeria are prepared to risk at left back Napoli star Ghoulam, who has been nursing a groin injury, while ziti from Entente Setif is the only home-based player. Goalkeeper Rais M’Bolhi, who is currently without a club, will be between the posts. Likely Algeria starting XI (4-3-3): M’Bolhi – Ziti, Ghoulam, Belkaroui, Mandi – Medjani, Taider, Bentaleb – Mahrez, Brahimi, Slimani Source: http://africanfootball.com/news/663256/Algeria-name-team-vs-Nigeria-Mahrez-Slimani-to-start 1 Like |

Nigeria International Striker Named Best Player In Sky Bet Championship Published: November 11, 2016 Nigeria International Striker Named Best Player In Sky Bet Championship Super Eagle Sone Aluko has been rewarded for his imperious displays for Fulham last month after picking up the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October. During the period under review, the offensive all-rounder was on target in the Cottagers memorable win versus Barnsley, before notching three assists against Huddersfield. Interviewed by the official website of Fulham, Aluko said : “Personally it’s a great feeling to be recognised with this award. It’s a nice feeling to be publically rewarded for your efforts. “Ultimately I think it’s a team award. I wouldn’t get this award if the team weren’t winning and it’s a credit to my teammates and all the staff who have provided me with a platform to play well on. ” This is the second time Aluko has been recognized as the best player in the English second-tier, having won the accolade back in November 2012 while on the payroll of Hull City. http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=21040 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: It didn't come as news to me cos i so much expected it. U know i asked u the other day that "are u predicting Rohr's line up or are u proposing what YOU wish the line up to be?". Rohr is a "Big Experience" coach. U should know that by now. Besides, the reason he gave for not fielding Alampasu were the exact reasons we were try to pass across to u. Rohr is such a fantastic coach. He is already preparing our future goalies.Like Emmanuel Daniel and Dele Alampasu. I pray the NFF keeps extending his contract. We need him for the long term. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Nothing is certain yet but I am begining to incline towards the thinking that our forward line could look like this: ...... ........Iheanacho ..................Etebo Iwobi.................................Moses Etebo could be switching positions with Iwobi intermitently. chai! if these four players plus Mikel play to their potentials today, these Algerians will see fire and brime stone. Time to offload Ighalo and Ideye they yaf tried. But now the potentials of this team have out grown them. Isaac Success and Olanrewaju Kayode should replace them in the squad. AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa South Africa Alampasu pledges support for chosen Eagles goalkeeper Dele Alampasu has said he will support the goalkeeper who is picked to start for Nigeria against Algeria tomorrow as team victory is what is uppermost. Former Nigeria U17 and U23 star Alampasu has pushed his more experienced rivals Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the starting place against Algeria in the absence of injured Carl Ikeme. “We have all worked very hard this week. We are all in good shape and so any of us who is picked, we will support him because the most important thing is victory for Nigeria,” said the Portugal-based shot stopper. “We do not have anything but to go out there and pick our three points. “We are playing at home and nothing should stop us from winning the game tomorrow.” Gernot Rohr has confirmed Daniel Akpeyi will start in goal for Nigeria against Algeria. AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Cameroon Algeria will be tougher than Zambia predicts Nigeria coach Rohr Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has predicted tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria will be a tougher game than last month’s win in Zambia. Nigeria won 2-1 in Ndola last month to shoot to the top of their qualifying group and they continue the qualifying campaign on Saturday at home to Algeria, who were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by Cameroon. “We have a team who want to win the game, we know it will be difficult because Algeria is a big team, but we believe in our chances,” Rohr told reporters after his team’s final training in Uyo Friday evening. “It will be a different game because Algeria is different, a different style of football. We have monitored them and we know what they can do. “It will be difficult, we perhaps must have patience before we can score. “This is the moment to make the second step to the World Cup.” He added: “There is no doubt, no fear. Never. “We know that Algeria are a good team, we respect them, but we also have a very good team. “The players are fit and confident and we hope to have a good game just as we did in Zambia. “So, we will go to this game with full confidence, with big determination.” He said he expects the Eagles to be more efficient in front of goal than they were against Tanzania when they threw away several begging chances before a late wonder strike by Kelechi Iheanacho. “We have already played here against Tanzania, but we must be much more efficient now and I hope to be ready tomorrow,” he charged. africanfootball.com/news/663249/Algeria-will-be-tougher-than-Zambia-predicts-Nigeria-coach-Rohr 1 Like |

3-4-3? : Rohr Confesses- We Will Try To Play Like Chelsea To Keep Mahrez And Slimani In Check Ahead of Nigeria’s all important World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria later today, coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has given a big hint on how his team intends to approach the game. Rohr confessed that his team has problems in the right full back position and will need offensive players to do a job for whoever gets the nod to start at right back. The German tactician was quick to point out that snuffing out the threat of Riyad Mahrez, who will most likely start on the left for Algeria will require Victor Moses, who plays as a wing back for Chelsea to put in a shift defensively even though he will be played further up the pitch. He categorically stated that the Eagles defence will be set up in a similar way to that of Chelsea, but lamented the lack of time and players to properly execute the plan. “We have been trying some different systems in training this week. “We have a problem in the right back position. The reason for this is because our right back when we played against Tanzania (in Uyo on September 3) has not been playing regularly at his club” Rohr said. “So it is difficult but we have been trying to find another right back and that was Tyrone (Ebuehi) but he chose not to come at the last moment. “So for this game against Algeria, we have another solution or the same solution (as we did for the last game against Zambia) because Ndidi was not so bad (in Ndola). “We know that he will likely be coming up against Mahrez who is a very good player, We must be strong on the wings and defensively too. “(Victor) Moses plays on the right (for Chelsea), not as a defender but mostly from a midfield position. “He defends when they lose the ball and attacks when they have the ball so we have to do a lot of work on the right side. “We will try to play like Chelsea (in this regard) on Saturday but they usually have three defenders but we have two in that position. “The major challenge we have had is that the time is too short to perfect these things. “We have played two games together (against Tanzania and Zambia) and changing too much for the game against Algeria will be too much to ask,” he concluded . Six things Nigeria must do to sink Algeria Nigerian football fans Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Algeria’s Fennec Foxes on match day two of 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying looking to record successive wins that will see them retain top spot in Group B. The team is looking sharp after two training sessions in Uyo and seem set to produce the goods on Saturday evening at the ‘Nest of Champions’. Anyone who thinks the game will be straightforward and easy for Nigeria may however have a surprise coming as the Algeria’s Foxes are battle-hardened competitors. In Riyad Mahrez, Yacine Brahimi, Nabil Bentaleb and Islam Slimani, Algeria coach, Georges Leekens have extravagantly-talented individuals who can turn a game on its head in a six pence. So, there seems to be a consensus that the game will be tough, pulsating, exciting and not one forvthe faint-hearted but how can the Super Eagles claim bragging rights today? Here are six things they must do to win. Start strong Leekens believes the defence is the weak link of the Super Eagles. He has charged his lads to produce a blistering start at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium with the hope of getting an early goal. “The defence of Nigeria has some weaknesses that needs to be taken into account. “To achieve a good result (in Uyo), we have to score one or more goals. “(When that happens), they will (try) to the attack (us ceaselessly). “We have to start the game well and also try to stop the Nigeria attacks,” Leekens said. The Super Eagles must start strong against the Algerians to avoid heartbreak. Stop Mahrez Algeria is by no means a one man team but Mahrez [ above ] is unarguably the cock of the walk as far as the Fennec Foxes are concerned. Lekeens is likely to play a 4-3-3 formation with Antalyaspor man, Raïs M'Bolhi almost certain to start in goal. Mohamed Khoutir Ziti, Hicham Belkaroui, Aïssa Mandi and Faouzi Ghoulam appear set to receive the nod from Leekens to start in defence for the Foxes with captain Carl Medjani likely to be saddled with his usual duty of playing just in front of the back four. Saphir Taïder and Nabil Bentaleb will start in defensive midfield while the dangerous trio of Mahrez, Brahimi and Slimane will coruscate in attack. Stopping such stellar talent in full flow is an almost impossible task but Cameroon managed to do it last month. The blue-print adopted by the Indomitable Lions in Blida was straight forward, ugly at times but ultimately successful. Frustrating tactics (from the point of view of the Algerians) in the shape of doubling up on Mahrez and giving him no time on the ball worked to perfection. When Mahrez plays to his full potential, the Foxes represent poetry in motion. Stifle the Leicester City pin up boy and the tune becomes different. Avoid defensive mistakes On match day one against Zambia, the Super Eagles were cruising in Ndola following first half goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi until a moment of shock in the 71st minute. Kenneth Omeruo [ below] inexplicably failed to clear a routine cross and the lurking veteran, Collins Mbesuma fired home past Carl Ikeme with frightening force. The Zambians were suddenly back in the game and the Super Eagles had to rely on the heroics of Ikeme and a large slice of good fortune to close out the win. On Saturday, mistakes against the Foxes (who arguably have better strikers than the Chipolopolo) will be punished ruthlessly. To win on Saturday, we must play a near perfect game, especially in defence. Take our chances Algeria have kept clean sheets in two of their last three matches and are famously well-organized at the rear. The last time the Super Eagles played in Uyo (against Tanzania), they frittered away a plethora of chances before winning 1-0 in the end. Algeria have deadly talent upfront and one goal may not be enough to guarantee maximum points for Nigeria. The Super Eagles will create chances on Saturday, but those opportunities must be put away. Feed Iheanacho There is a popular maxim as it relates to a Nigerian footballer, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, ‘feed the Yak and he will score’. The ‘Yak’ has since retired from international football but one man who seems to be following in his footsteps is Manchester City attacker, Iheanacho [below] . So the maxim for Saturday should be ‘feed Iheanacho’ as the attacker is in a rich vein of goal scoring form for Nigeria. Iheanacho is the man of the moment and he seems to take things up a gear when playing for the Super Eagles. His record is fearsome, four goals in six internationals, representing a goals per game ratio of 0.7. Under Gernot Rohr, Iheanacho is thriving as he has scored in all matches that the German has managed. Iheanacho is capable of the spectacular (as he showed with his belter against Tanzania in Uyo two months ago) and the sublime (as exemplified by his consummate finish against Zambia in Ndola last month). The general feeling is that with adequate and quality service, Iheanacho will deliver against the Foxes. Crowd must play their part The Crowd in Uyo when Nigeria beat Tanzania in a Nations Cup qualifier on October 3, was brilliant. It was basically a dead rubber as Nigeria could no longer qualify for the tournament irrespective of the result but the fans turned out in their numbers and cheered to the rafters. Even in the face of numerous misses by the Eagles’ attackers, the crowd did not despair and eventually got due reward in the shape of Iheanacho’s outrageous winner. Nigerian football fans can be notoriously fickle, known to turn against their team in the past for poor showings. Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi told supersport.com earlier in the week that, ‘this team is populated by a lot of young players’. Youngsters like Iwobi, Iheanacho, Agbo and others may struggle to deal with the reactions of a hostile home crowd which could ultimately hamper their performances. The Foxes are more experienced and could make life complicated for the Eagles, especially if they manage to nick the first goal. In the event of that scenario playing out, the crowd must get behind the players and not on their backs, to successfully carry them to safety. So Ndidi is going to start as our RB, then that means Omeruo will start as a LB/CB hybrid. That means we play a 4-2-3-1 in possession and 3-4-3 when we lose possession. Mehn, Iwobi go hear am today. I would rather fancy Etebo as the LMF because he has the stamina to run up and down for 90 mins and the boy has got the pace too, I guess that's why he is going to start, fantastic decision by the coach. Now all we need is Leon and Ekong to turn to aerial monsters, cutting off every single long ball towards Slimani and we are good for the 3 points 1 Like |

Nigeria Vs Algeria: Akpeyi, Etebo, Moses, Balogun To Start Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr will hand Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Oghenekaro Etebo starting roles in today's World Cup qualifier against Algeria, Completesportsnigeria.com has gathered from a competent source. According to Rohr's final training session yesterday, the German tactician adopted a 4-3-3 (or likely a 4-2-3-1) formation which will see Etebo playing at the tip of the midfield along with the duo of John Obi Mikel and Ogenyi Onazi. In form Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, returns to the starting lineup in a trident attack. Moses and Alex Iwobi will flank Kelechi Iheanacho who will play as a false nine for the encounter. In defence, Rohr will deploy Kenneth Omeruo and Elderson Echiejile as full-backs while FSV Mainz defender, Leon Balogun and William Troost Ekong will partner in the Super Eagles' heart of defence. Kickoff is 5pm. Source: http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/nigeria-vs-algeria-akpeyi-etebo-moses-balogun-start/ 1 Like |
