CHAPTER 1

It was 7:00am in the morning. I woke up from my dream due to the stinging sound of the alarm. I was dreaming of this beautiful girl that lives next to my house, actually am living with my parent. The girl is a total diva. She goes by the name Tina.

Woken up by the alarm; I sat upright inorder to recall my dream of Tina and me in an Island where no other beings lives, but just me and her.

The sweet fragrant smell of the blossom flowers fills my nose with delight; I tried to hold her close enough, but she ran and I ran after her, playing her game of hide and seek.

We ate fruits from tree to trees, she placed a fruit between her teeth and I ate from it. We also went for swimming in the cool of the day, that’s where I pecked her on the cheek, and showed her how to swim in different swimming strokes.

We rested under a tree after the swimming jaunt in the evening of the day, the tree has its root rooted into the soil with branches that spread wide above our heads, and its leaves are like that of a plantain tree, very broad and thick. The faint sound of the sea diving to & fro can be heard.

Tina's body was on my lap, she looked into my eyes, she was saying something that was not audible enough, I brought my ear to her mouth so that she could repeat what she said, but she turned my face to her and gave me a mouth to mouth kiss.

She moans loudly and made me lay on her slim body by dragging me. I was smooching her as she wrapped her hands and legs around me so tight that I could hardly breathe and I gave her a deep kiss. That was when I felt the urge. I undressed her while she undressed me. In the nude, I ran my hand all over her body and cupped her breasts with my hands, I could feel her nipples getting strong, her whole body has sexually aroused.

We went into a cavernous intimacy and she moans like a woman who wants nothing else in life but more of me.

I was brought back to reality by the knock on the door of my room. I speculated in my head saying “who must that be?”

I looked at the alarm and noticed it was just 7:15am in the morning. It must be mom.

“How did she know that I have woken up?” I said to myself. I removed the wrapper that I used to wrap myself whenever I want to go to bed.

I stood up firmly and gunned for the door, I opened the door, but to my surprise I saw my Dad instead.

“Dad, Good Morning Sir” said Anthony

“Good Morning my son” said Anthony’s father.

“How was your night boy?” he said.

“It was awesome, fine and great sir” Anthony went on “How did you know that I have woken up?”

“I heard the alarm, you know the alarm is very loud, I could not sleep whenever it starts ringing”

“Oh, yeah” said Anthony nodding his head slightly.

His Dad bypassed him and lets himself into the room. He went straight and sat on Anthony’s bed. All this time, Anthony was wondering “What is going on?”

“Dad, is anything the matter?”

“Come and seat with me” His Dad said. “I want to discuss a dream I had about you, which terrifies me alot”

“A dream? About me?” Anthony said.

“Come son” His Dad said.

Anthony went to seat beside him. “Am all ears sir” he said.

“Before I narrate my dream, I will like to ask you this question, is it necessary for you to join the Nigerian Defence Academy?” he said.

“Why don’t you just go to the Ahmadu Bello University at Zaria to study any of those preferred disciplines like Medicine, Law, Sociology, etc, it will be good for you that way, you don’t have to waste your precious time and years in Nigerian Defence Academy"

he went on. “That school has nothing to offer you, you will undergo serious corporal training and exercise, and whenever you misbehave or when you don’t do what you are meant or told to do, you will be physically punished"

“In our family, do you see any Army officers there?” he said further.

Anthony was feeling disgruntled about his Dad bringing up the issue again, when he has already decided to join the Nigeria Defence Academy.
Anthony’s father continued.

“There is nothing good in being a soldier, they kill!”

“Soldiers do not kill innocent people or people anyhow, soldiers only kill when they are given the mandate by the law or by the President of the country, and they kill during war times.

There are good and bad in this world Dad, as we have bad Policemen, so also we have good Policemen, the same goes for soldiering too.”

Anthony said this steadily as if he was conversing with a five year old kid.
His Dad smiled.

“I know that you are now nineteen years of age and you have the right to make choices on your own. But a word from the wise or elderly one pays off.”

Anthony looked at the time, which indicates 8:05am, he was going to be late for his Saxophone class and registration for the Nigerian Defence Academy.

“Dad, please, the form for the enrolment into Nigerian Defence Academy is out, and I also have to do other things which are time consuming.”

“Alright, I will be quick so that I won’t delay you” His Dad said.

“In my dream, I saw a huge figure that wore a mask; the mask was something I have never seen before. He was holding a dagger, on the dagger’s sharp silver part there was red substance or liquid on it, it may be blood, I don’t know for sure. Then I saw a bridge, the figure was trying to cross the bridge.”

“Then I looked up towards the end of the bridge. On the other side of the bridge, I saw you, scared, restless, and tired. You were running from the figure.” he said.

“That was when I woke up.” His Dad said further.

Anthony looked amazed, and said. “A huge figure with a drawn knife in hand?”

“Yes” His Dad replied.

Since Anthony could not fathom the meaning of the dream, and he knows that his father was finding every reason for him not to join the Nigerian Defence Academy, and he also knows that this is the perfect reason.

He said in this head “I have to derail Dad from this, and feed him with the cooked-up interpretation of the dream.”

Anthony said. “But Dad, let’s cross-examine this dream again, you said that I was at the other side of the bridge, meaning I was not in his grip. And the blood on the knife was not mine because you didn’t see me get hurt nor did you see blood ooze out of my body. That means am perfectly okay.” He said.

“It also means the Lord Jesus is ever faithful and merciful. He granted me victory Dad.” Anthony said further.

Anthony’s Dad was wondering how his son was able to crop up an interpretation to his dream in a short time.

He said. “How are you sure that that is the perfect interpretation of the dream?”

“The dream has already manifested the interpretation itself. Dad, don’t you see? I was not hurt by the figure’s dagger.”

It was now 8:20am. Anthony’s Dad tried to disagree more on the topic, but he was cut-short by Anthony.

“Dad, why not let us pray about it this minute and leave all to God Almighty, you know the Bible said in the book of Proverbs 3 verse 5, that ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” He said.

“If we are trying to apply our wisdom to it, God will not be happy, let’s just lean on God.” He added.

Anthony’s father said “Let’s kneel down and pray about it then.”

Anthony was so glad that his Dad dropped the matter. Both of them kneeled down together and prayed fervently. Anthony was praying fervently because he was a little bit scared because of the dream. But he held up his composure and prayed that God Almighty should intervene.

After the prayer session ended, Anthony’s Dad exited Anthony’s room and went for his room.
Anthony heaved out carbondioxide and fell on the bed. The petrifaction of the dream was still rising in him.

The morning wind was breezy as if it was going to rain. The coolness of the weather entered into Anthony’s body and settled into it, making his muscle and nervous system settle down.

CHAPTER 2

9:40am in the morning, Major General Ibrahim Audu, the overall Controller and Head of Nigerian Defence Academy was a man of valor with sharp features like that of an eagle, and also has a good marksmanship. He won the marksmanship contest in 1981, which was a shooting competition; it was used to test the ability of young cadets to shoot on the target in the Nigerian Defence Academy.

In 1980, Major Gen. Audu enrolled and became a young cadet in the Nigerian Defence Academy at the age of 20, and graduated from the Academy and joined the Nigerian Army at the age of 25 with full First Class Honour.

He lost one of his eyes when he was on a secret mission in Algeria with five other military operatives which he was their team leader.

This was due to one of his men's mistake for not confirming if the area they were passing was filled with landmines (trap explosives), and also due to a fog that spread like a canopy on the area.

The land was filled with land explosives. A landmine is an explosive device concealed under or on the ground and designed to destroy or disable enemy targets ranging from military operatives to vehicles and tanks, as they pass over or near it. The device is typically detonated automatically by way of pressure when a target steps on it or drives over it. The landmine may cause damage by direct blast effect by fragments that are thrown by the blast or by both.

The fog was intensely overpowering the ability to see of Gen. Audu and his team; from there they could hear the birds chirp.

The sun was just gathering his itself to rise. The men reduced the sound of their footsteps in-order not to alert the enemy.

Gen. Audu was in the front while is men was watching the four corner of the earth with FN F2000 Assault Rifles pointed forward. Suddenly there was a quick click as if someone pressed a button. They all froze for three seconds and then Gen. Audu said.

“I think have stepped on a landmine”

“What?” “A landmine?” said one of the five operatives in slow husky voice.

“Yes, it is a landmine” Gen. Audu confirmed.

“How is that possible sir?” said one of the five operatives.

“Did you check this area before we pass through here?” Gen. Audu asked.

“I didn’t sir, because of the fog; I couldn’t get an accurate vision”

Since the landmines deals with pressure, if Gen. Audu releases the pressure he is currently putting on the landmine; his leg will be blown to pieces. In-order not to let this happen, he maintained his pressure.

His fellow military operatives carefully watched their step, they located the path where there were no landmines, and they followed the path to meet Gen. Audu.

“General Audu, are you alright?” asked one of the five.

“Am good” replied Audu “Is there anything we can do to deactivate the landmine?” Audu reiterated

“I can try to deactivate it, but I cannot guarantee you sir” said the one of the five.

“Go ahead” Gen. Audu said

The military operative brought out a sharp knife and collected another knife from one of the other four standing and surveying the area in case of an enemy's attack.

He lay down on the ground, and under Gen. Audu’s foot, there was the landmine. The landmine was lightly brown in colour, and has a safety wire by its side. He used the first knife to pull out the covering by the side of the landmine, and used the second knife to put the safety wire back inside the landmine.

“I think that should disarm it, sir” he said.

“You think?” Gen. Audu asked.

“No guarantee sir, you have to remove your leg instantly” he said.

Beads of sweat was forming on Gen. Audu’s forehead, tension engulfed him with heat generating from his body, making his military uniform soaked with his sweat, he was wet as if he jumped into a swimming pool with clothes on.

But he gathered his composure inorder not to lose face in-front of his subordinates. The operative that put the safety wire in and the other four stepped back.

He counted one to three from his head, one, two, three, and he removed his leg quickly, but the safety wire of the landmine was not fully tucked inside the landmine, due to this, the landmine exploded shoving Gen. Audu backwards and his team men went for cover.

But Gen. Audu landed on his own left eye. The left eye was remitting lot of blood. Luckily Gen. Audu’s leg did not get blown into pieces.

The chirping birds flew away due to the sound of the exploded landmine which echoed all around the territory. A light smoke ornamented the area, the sun was already shinning, which led to the vanishing of the thick fog that overwhelmed the area.

Gen. Audu ripped apart a small part of his vest; he used the ripped out portion to tie his wounded eye. His men assist him with his Thompson M1921 Submachine Gun, they asked him.

“Are you okay sir?”

“Am fine” he replied.

“Let’s go, we have to make it to camp before sundown” he said again.

Recalling his past in retrospect, Major Gen. Audu sat alone on a mahogany furnished chair in his room.

He lived in a mansion; the outside wall of his house was painted blue, while the inside was painted yellow.

There is a swimming pool in the backyard, the water of the pool looks blue when you are afar, but when you get close to it, it is colourless.

All the rooms were tiled and adorned with perfume, also chairs and tables were fitted in each room. Gen. Audu has staffs, the chefs, armed security guards, the gateman and the cleaner.

Gen. Audu’s wife and children are in London, he preferred living alone. He could recall how he was able to secure his current position in the Nigerian Defence Academy.

After losing his left eye, he was denied promotion to higher position in the military. Promotion was given to people who are connected or related to reputable and wealthy people in the country.

Gen. Audu was born in a beggars’ community, he never knew his parents. Since his youth he toiled and worked from one job to another, sometimes he worked five jobs a day inorder to feed and send himself to school.

Having nobody to back him up in the military, he went dark; he involved himself in deadly deals, and became a killing machine for the Northern political faction of the country.

This entails the assassinations of some of the southern political factions. Selling his soul to the devil was what it is called generally, but Gen. Audu cared less because he told himself “I have to be recognized with fame, wealth, prestige, and I don’t care what it will cost me”.

The assassinations of the targeted people brought him where he was now. Everything they promised him was delivered.

Rocking steadily on his brown wooden chair with a hot coffee in hand, he was thinking about the conversation he had with the Senator Musa on phone, the Chairman of the Northern Political Faction.

A secret that could shakedown the whole country, and put the Northern Political Faction into chaos was passed to Gen. Audu by Senator Musa.

CHAPTER 3

Anthony Opara is the name, and being the second child of the family of four, the family also look up to me as the breadwinner of the family. After graduating from school with a West African Examination Certificate, they thought I would go to university to study outstanding disciplines. But they were shocked when I told them that I was going to be a military person.

Soldiering has being part of me. The interest started when I was at the age of ten years, I
watched a movie called ‘Behind the War’.

The movie was about how people who committed war crimes are being brought to justice by the brute force of the soldiers, the soldiers of Nigeria.

In the movie, the soldiers shouted this war songs like in the streets of Nigerian, songs like “Leave your father, Leave your mother and join the Army, one more river to cross, one more river, one more river, one more river to cross” From thereon I have being imitating the soldiers, painting my singlet in green and black, wearing my elder brother’s shoe when he is not around, transforming a paper into a gun, and running around the street chanting “Leave your father, Leave your mother and join the Army, one more river to cross, one more river cross, one more river cross, one more river to cross.”

So on returning to school at the age of 17 at Gloria Senior Grammar School in Igerri roundabout, Kaduna State, I quickly applied into the Nigerian Defence Academy. I however got a disappointing reply when they advised that since I was already in SS2, I should wait until I finish my secondary school education and obtain the West African Examination School Certificate. It was only then I could qualify to apply for consideration to become an officer in the Army.

My disappointment was compounded by my ignorance of what entering the army as an officer meant. But my interest in soldiering was again rekindled when in my final year in secondary school at the age of 18.

I let one year pass, before I apply for the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Sitting here in Mama Kelechi’s shop eating bread and beans was something I cherish, because Mama Kelechi’s beans, especially the stew is breathtaking.

The street of the Kaduna is very lively nowadays due to the insurgency that was quenched last month. People are coming out of their houses to buy food and move freely without being afraid of being kidnapped or killed by a bomb blast.

Walking to the cybercafé after eating, I encounter someone, it looks like her I pondered in my head, but it’s not her, it only looks like Tina my crush.

The cybercafé was full of people, some doing photocopies, others browsing, I went straight to the admin of the café and told him that I wanted to register for the Nigerian Defence Academy online.

He led me through the process and registered me, I paid him for his services and head home with my printout slip in hand.

CHAPTER 4

Sitting around the table are men of vicious intent to kill without mercy, they sat awaiting their boss Gen. Audu to host the meeting. Suddenly he entered into the room, they all stood up, he went straight to his seat and sat down, and then they all sat down.

“Senator Musa called me a day before yesterday that someone else knows about the assassination of Chief Ojukwu” Gen. Audu said.
“Chief Ojukwu’s friend, Chief Fredrick knows that Senator Musa ordered the elimination of Chief Ojukwu and he also has an evidence to support his knowledge” he went on.

“If he has an evidence to support his claim, why has he not spread it to the public or media?” said a woman sitting beyond the arms reach of Gen. Audu.

“He has not gone public because he wants to use it as a weapon to win the upcoming election in all Northerners dominated States in the country. And Senator Musa will not accept that.” Gen. Audu replied.

“Scorpion!” Gen. Audu shouted to the man sitting at his left hand side.

“Blood!” Scorpion shouted back.

“You have a mission; Chief Fredrick is coming to the Nigeria Defence Academy in three days time as the Guest Speaker of the occasion, your mission is to let that day be his last day on earth.” Gen. Audu said.

“Your will will be done” Scorpion said back.
Gen. Audu wore a deadly smile on his face with his grin that showed his brown premolar teeth. He stood and headed for the door.

Scorpion aka Taiye Olusegun Cole had become famous among the goons of assassins in year 2001 for killing four undercover antiterrorist foreign secret agents in Nigeria. He has been creating terrorism in home and abroad for four years.

As he always said “I am a celebrated man”. And he was. Over the years his face had graced not only the front pages of the world’s major newspapers, but also the cover of PM News, Newsdaily and even Readersnews.

All of which put him in a different class entirely from the long succession of other freelancers who had eagerly worked for him.

The trouble was he was increasingly certain he was mentally ill. At first he thought he had simply lost track. But in the last months, he had begun to sense that he was not driven by ideology or revolution at all.

But rather by the exploit of terror itself or, more explicitly, by the act of killing in coldblood, “I am a coldblooded animal” he said to himself. It was more than something that gave him pleasure, it was sexually arousing.

To the extent that it had replaced sex act altogether. And each time – though he wanted to deny it – the feeling magnified in intensity and became ever more gratifying.

A lover to be found, stalked, and then butchered in the most ingenious way that came to him at the time.

It was awful. He hated it. The idea terrified him. Yet, at the same time, he craved it. That he might be ill was a thought he desperately tried to refute. He wanted to think he was only tired, or, more realistically, having the thoughts of a person approaching middle age.

But he knew it wasn’t true and something was wrong, because progressively he felt off balance, as if some part of him was weighted more heavily than the rest. It was a situation made all the worse because there was absolutely no one he could talk to about it without fear of being caught or turned in or compromised in some other way.

CHAPTER 5

“Dad, they have accepted me into the Nigerian Defence Academy” said Anthony as he saw his Dad about to go out.

“That’s good” said his Dad
“When are you going for screening?” his Dad said further

“Tomorrow and the Nigerian Defence Academy is also holding an event of giving awards to credible graduants tomorrow” said Anthony

“And how did you know this?” his Dad asked

“I read it from the internet” Anthony replied

“Oh ooo, okay. Goodluck” said his Dad

“Where is mom?” Anthony said with a smile on his face.

“Your mom went out to the market to buy some foodstuffs” his Dad replied

“Okay”

“Am going out to the elders' club, if your mom comes back, tell her so.”

“Alright Dad”

Anthony's Dad bypassed Anthony and headed for the front door. On his way to his car in the garage he was worried and pondered, Anthony is so stubborn; when he sets his head to do something he does it.

Anthony's Dad never liked the idea of his son soldering, because he is a Christian and a Catholic for that matter, who holds the strong principles of Christianity.

One of the principles is not to kill; 'Thou shall not kill' that’s how the bible put it. If his son Anthony is disobeying the strong principles, and he as the father is watching, won’t the Supreme Being judge him?

The cloud is dissipating, making it easier to see the blue sky on a sunny day with the naked eyes. Houseflies were campaigning and rampaging on a cake that was disposed under a bitterleave plant which irritated Anthony's Dad.

He cried out the name of their gateman thrice to open the gate because the old man had hearing problem.

He shouldn’t have employed the old man as a gateman, if not for the sake of his wife who said he should give the gateman the job in order for him not to go hungry since the gateman's house collapsed, making him lose most of his properties and there was nobody to accommodate or give a half deaf man a job as a gateman.

He entered his car and drove out of the compound leaving the matter of Anthony in God's hand.

155 MILES AWAY in the sun was parked a pizza delivery van, inside were three men stalking on a young girl.

Dorcas Ezechukwu is a ten year old girl and also, she is one of the most intelligent girl in her school, light skin texture and fun to be with. Most of her activities today in school were exciting as the school management organized an internal debate whereby the winner goes home with free textbooks and a packet of biro, in the long run, the intelligent Dorcas won by knocking down her opponents by stating the major key points and giving more reasons why mother is better than father.

Without further ado, she said “A mother is a female parent that nurse her children every morning, cleans the house, washes kitchen paraphernalia, clean up the toilet and bathrooms and cooks for the family. Sometimes she does all this when the father and the children are all still sleeping in the beds, even though she is feeling sleepy. She will bath the children, iron their clothes and set them ready to go for school, but what is the role of the father, the father is to provide for the family and nothing else, he does not engage in chores like the mother and moreover the mother works and provide for the family also, so what a father can do, a mother can do better. With this little point of mine, I hope I was able to convince and not confuse you. Thank you.”

And the winner’s award was given to her without the judge contemplating on it.

Holding her textbooks and packet of biro in hand, jumping from one side to the other as she walked through a group of Hausa motorcyclists, one could see the expression on her face that she is very delighted. “Mommy and Daddy would be happy today” she said in her head.

Due to the fact that her school is not far from her house, her parents agreed that she will go to school to and fro on foot as it will also reduce her school fees, making them to save it and channel the money into something else.

Out of the vehicle and lurking under a tree, Scorpion was under a hood and one other masculine man in a sport-wear that had big eyes that almost look like it was going to jump out out of the eye socket, but it is not going to.

They both sat down on a bench that was temporarily fixed there by who knows who, facing the road, waiting for the girl to pass as this area is a quiet area that you hardly hear anything if you are not attentive, this is the perfect area for their abduction, they were planning to abduct Dorcas, as her father will unlock something or should I say achieve something for their unstoppable cause.

Now watching the girl about to pass their track Scorpion sprang up, so did the other man and signaled to the other driver that was at the girl’s back to move ahead, so did it and the vehicle was now stationed in the path where Scorpion was.

As Dorcas was about take three steps to where the track starts, she was grabbed by a strong hand into a vehicle she sensed was tailing her but she didn’t give it much thought. Scorpion stood at the back as the masculine man grabbed Dorcas, as she was about to be carried into the vehicle, there came out from nowhere a male security operative, he shouted on top of his lungs and running towards Scorpion trying to save the day or the girl, Scorpion brought out a pistol KGH1000 silencer, momentarily tugged under his shirt into his trouser at his back and fired two shots at the chest of the raving security operative, making him somersault like an acrobatic, but his acrobat was awkward, lifelessly lying on the ground, and positioned the pistol back to its former.

He entered the vehicle and the vehicle speed away, he looked at Dorcas lying on the floor of the vehicle, she had already inhaled a good amount of halothane (which is a sleeping gas).

CHAPTER 6

The next day

In a mansion full of marbles on the floor and on the walls, with paintings in the sitting and living room, there stood by the bar section a man dressed in what the Yoruba calls ‘Agbada’.

This is the third time that Chief Fredrick is readjusting his Agbada attire. What was going through his head is how he is going to outmaneuver against what is going to befall him because he knows that the Chairman of the Northern Political Faction, Senator Musa will not let him stay alive and control him, he will make his move.

Today he is going to the Nigerian Defence Academy as the Guest Speaker for the event, and it is very evident that Senator Musa will stage something for him, but he, Chief Fredrick Maduka of Abia State will outsmart him.

Chief Fredrick Maduka is a influential man in the Eastern Political Faction of Nigeria. He is a man full of ego and wits, being in politics has opened his eyes to many things, politics is not for the faint hearted but for the beings that got courage and boldness to stand up to every tantrums thrown at them and seize power at the supreme level.

Although Chief Fredrick got his own skeleton in the closet, he still thrives to make sure that he does truthful things once in a while.

After Chief Fredrick drank two cups of champagne he retired on a seat in front of a plasma television set. The room was scented with a female’s perfume and Roselle flowers were set beside the entrance door. Expensive vase that was brought from China and also has being in existence since the Chinese/ Tang dynasty was positioned beside the Roselle flower. Chief Fredrick love for arts has brought him to buy the exorbitant Leonardo Davinci’s Monalisa paint.

He brought it from the arts gallery in Italy, in a reputable museum that is near the Vatican City. He toured Italy and Vatican City; he met many cardinals and even the pope.

There was a knock at the door; he said “Come in”
A bodyguard wearing a dark suit, with a dark sunglass, making him look like a commando, but underneath his shirt was a bulletproof vest that he wore whenever Chief Fredrick wants to go outside his house.

“We have made the necessary arrangements sir” said the bodyguard to Chief Fredrick

“That’s good” said Chief Fredrick

Outside in the compound, and where Chief Fredrick packed all his cars, the chef of the Chief Fredrick Maduka pinned a tiny microchip underneath the car of Chief Fredrick Maduka, pressed a tiny black button, then the microchip beamed to life, and showing tiny red light by the side.

Fear engulfed him as he did so, he had to do it because Scorpion had kidnapped his ten year old daughter Dorcas on her way coming from school, and held her captive in god knows where, and threatened to kill his daughter if he did not attach the microchip to the car of Chief Fredrick Maduka.

And also told him that if he notifies the authorities he will kill his daughter and hunt him down even if he is in the Police custody. After applying the microchip, he dodged some bodyguards that were coming to the car to inspect it.

He went straight to the kitchen. Inside the kitchen he brought out a burner phone, a burner phone is a communication device that enables you to communicate with anybody without being traced, in other words, the call cannot be traced or pinpointed by the authorities or by anybody who has the knowledge of tracing phone calls or listening to phone calls.

Turning on the sink water inorder to camouflage his conversation, he went to the call history of the phone and dialed the number that called him last, which was Scorpion’s number.

“I have done what you asked me to do” said the chef in a shaky voice.

“Did you press the button that I told you to press?” asked Scorpion.

“Yes I did” said the chef in a more shaky voice.
“Okay, see you later” said Scorpion. And was about to hang up.

“Please wait, - what about my daughter? Where should I come to get her?” asked the chef.

“You will get her when I finish this mission” replied Scorpion

“But sir, please let me speak to her atleast, let me speak to her so that I can know that she is safe” said the chef

“Alright”

On the other end

Scorpion moved a bit further and placed the phone on the left ear of the Dorcas, she was tied up on a wooden chair.

“Your Dad wants to talk to you” said Scorpion in a scary grin.

Stream of tears flowed down from the eyes of Dorcas to her cheek, when she was saying “Dad, where are you? I am scared”

“Dorcas, be strong, Daddy will come and get you” said the chef

“I am in a warehouse, dust is everywhere” said Dorcas in a hurried tone.

Scorpion removed the phone from Dorcas’ ear and gave her two loud slaps on the cheek that almost deafened Dorcas’ hearing. She let out a cry and shouted loudly.

“Please don’t beat her” said the weeping chef on the phone.

“Have me in captive instead and you can beat and torture me anyway that you like” the chef said again with an uncontrollable cry. “Not her please, she is only ten years old”

“You will get her when we are through with the job” said Scorpion and ended the call conversation.

“Hello? Hello?” said the chef with irrepressible tears, and mucus was coming out of his mouth onto the floor. He sat down on the floor as he wept bitterly.

There were footsteps coming towards the kitchen. He quickly stood from the floor, used his hand to wipe away the tears and mucus on his face, he washed his hand in the basin and faked to be humming a song that he did not know about.
