goldfish80: Just Imagine. I asked you a simple question, you are talking tactics man. I said, if you look at the positions when the team is not in possession, as a Tactics man, how will you know which of the pivot roams and who sits back. Tell me before the corner kick. Sorry, corner stone. |

goldfish80: I will lecture you how dual Pivot works because that answers the question you asked. One was Roaming, one was to shield. One of the major critiques of Onazi is leaving his shielding duties. That was what led Keshi to bring in Hope Akpan to the side. Etebo is the one to roam. Onazi is the one to sit and shield. 2 Likes |

goldfish80: You are correct. The coach played two anchor men. Etebo moved forward when ndidi came on. |

TheGoodJoe:In a dual pivot, one DM is not detailed to sit per say. The two Dms simply complement each other. When one attacks, the other defends. Mikel and Joel obi played this revolving role when siasia played them together. Last night, Etebo and Onazi played as Dms. However, Etebo linked with the attack when situation permitted. He played within the confines of the midfield that's why you never saw him in the Algerian box. Which annuals your point he was a box to box.. Lol |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:03pm On Nov 13, 2016 |
goldfish80: Now you know one sits and one links. So I wonder what the whole debate is for. The picture you posted which sparked the debate was why Etebo was not back. Pictorial evidence you posted. The reason is because he had the license to roam. That is not a defensive midfielder role. Your picture answers your question. No matter how long you debate it. 1 Like |

Is that not what I am saying?? Was it not in the second half that the Algerians came more at us till they got their goal and continued their attacks on us until Ndidi came in... Etebo had no business going forward then!!! He had to help mark at the back... That's he in an off-the-ball situation with us on the back-foot... Na wa ooo... You are just taking this round and round... Admit it!!! Etebo is no DMF and was no DMF yesterday... Chikena! goldfish80: 2 Likes |

goldfish80: there was an interview where Mikel said that when he was playing a dual pivot with Matic, he asked Matic before the game which one them should roam and which should sit, that should tell you that one sits predominantly or totally in fact. 1 Like |

Na you be the "average fan" here ooo... Looollll Watching games tactically indeed... And you do not understand "off-the-ball" and "on-the-ball"?? You dont understand sitting anchor and roaming box-to-box (roaming anchor/pivot)... Etebo only moved "permanently" forward when Mikel left the scene and Ndidi came in. Until then... He was moving up and down our midfield... Why is that so hard to swallow. I guess it is the pride of not wanting to be wrong... Loolll goldfish80: 1 Like |

Mickael2: The one I remember was David Luiz and Mikel under Benitez. Mikel said when David Luiz came in, he asked Luiz who was to sit and who was to go forward. David Luiz said Benitez ask him (Luiz) to sit and Mikel go forward. And then, David Luiz left Mikel at the back and ran forward. Lolll. 1 Like |

Mickael2: Is there any camping going on? That discussion was who the coach should select. I will always want the coach picking the best in camp. Although I will support the coach's final option. However, we are analysing the best we know. When camping starts, we can analyze who should start based on performance in camp. This time, Iheanacho was the best striker in camp. |

Algeria Coach: Iheanacho Made It Easy For Victor Moses To Punish Our Defence The coach of the Algerian team Georges Leekens has criticized his team poor defensive set up, which allowed Victor Moses time and space to score a brace in Nigeria 3-1 win over the Desert Foxes. Moses scored the opener for Nigeria after 25th minute before adding another minutes into time added on to help Nigeria secure a comprehensive 3-1 win over Algeria. ” Iheanacho was full of running and my defenders couldn’t handle him. The space he created by dragging them was what allowed Victor Moses the chance to score twice” He said at the post match conference. ” We know the threat of Nigeria going forward, so we should have defended better especially in our box. We have seen our mistakes and we will hopefully correct them before our next game”. The victory extended Nigeria’s lead at the top of group B to four points with Algeria now occupying the basement position in the group, due to an inferior goal difference even though they are on same point with Zambia. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/11/13/algeria-coach-iheanacho-made-it-easy-for-victor-moses-to-punish-our-defence/ 1 Like 1 Share |

On Nacho's role in the Super Eagles: Nacho should only play if and only if he will be playing as a SS, AMF or from the flank in a 4-2-3-1 formation. If not he should fight for a starting shirt in this roles with other players or he comes in as a sub and never as a 9. I personally, won't want to see Nacho play the 9 role for Nigeria. Playing Nacho as a false 9 or 9 in the green, white and green will only reduce him to an average player. Note: Nigeria is no Manchester City, so therefore, there is no enough time for the team to train and blend in a way that will fit him just as in city (e.g last evening most of our wingers couldn't understand his off the ball movement and thereby making the work more twitchy. Nacho is a kind of player that takes his time on the ball before shooting, cos he shoots with caution and not aimlessly and there is no room for that in the front man position. He could have done better and probably score if he had played behind the striker yesterday. He is a kind of player that picks up misplaced passes, poor clearances and turn them into goals from outside the box. 1 Like |

Mickael2: You speak such English and think you have a right to critique anyone anywhere? What is "all what you said"... Which brand of English is that? I never said you hate Mikel, but you came to a conclusion that you certainly must believe true. Iheanacho has one bad game and you say he should sit for one unknown star you plan to bring from China, after that. Let us forget his 4/4, let us forget his winning goal against Zambia, let us forget his many assists. No, no need to give him a second chqnce. We'll bench him for one 'star' sonewhere. If that is not silly talk, it must be from the angle of a butt-hurt person, so uncle, which is it? PS: My diction is perfect and this jargons you wrote did not mention any 'star'...give us the 'stars' in your team and what they have done to earn such a title. You can't even use terms properly and you think my arguments are baseless without giving yours a base. Stars indeed. Mtchewwww 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 4:38pm On Nov 13, 2016 |
This is what TheGooJoe and I have been trying to make others understand... Only few will see this (I indicated such in my write-up to TheGoodJoe and my response to Joseph1013's big question...) My only stand is Nacho continues in the role as for now there is none better with such high pressing and pace upfront plus ability to attack space. UNTIL A BADASS SUPER IN-FORM NO.9 RISES LIKE I KNOW AN OSIMHEN WOULD IN MONTHS FROM NOW.... Then Let Nacho keep leading the lines. He's the best goal threat we have. There's none better. Nacho was "quiet" but wasnt useless yesterday... His running and high-pressing were too much for the Algerians. He did what leekens just complained of. Anywhere he went, the algerian defenders followed him and that brought the likes of Moses and Iwobi and even Mikel more into the game in dangerous positions in the opposition's half. shogz89: 1 Like 1 Share |
