She stared at them, her work phone and her two personal ones.

Numerous beeps also followed, when they paused ringing, alerting her to the multitude of notifications that had come in like the waves, heralding the oncoming tsunami following in its wake.

A Whatsapp message from her closest friend Rose alerted her to the disaster about to unfold.

CALL ME NOW!!!!!!!!!! CALL ME ASAP. Rose had sent the message to all her phones.

Something was up, Rose wasn’t the dramatic type.

It took her three attempts to press the call button, her figures were shaking so badly.

Rose picked it up on the first ring.

‘Enitan, are you ok?. I was going to come over, but thought you might want to be on your own first’ the concern in her voice, obvious to Enitan.

‘I am ok, Rose. What’s wrong? Your messages sounded serious’ Enitan replied

There was a sudden silence at the other end.

‘Rose? Are you ok’ worried for her friend.

‘Enitan, I just received an email titled useless wrinkly woman, there was a video file attached to it and it had Tunde and a girl in it’ she whispered a slight catch in her voice.

‘Enitan, have you seen it?’

‘Yes, I have Rose, but how did you get it!!?’ she asked.

‘Enitan, the email had at least 20 people cc’d on it. I stopped counting at 25’ she said

'I am soo sorry, Enitan' she said

‘Enitan, I am coming over. Please let me in when I get there o’ she continued

Enitan froze, her heart dropped, she stumbled out of the kitchen to the nearest toilet where she threw up the meagre food she had eaten that day.

She sat on the floor, crying. Dazed by the events currently unfolding in her life.

Why, why me, as the sobs racked her body.

Rage, shame, hatred all battled for top position, in the race for her emotions.

Only one could prevail.

She splashed cold water on her face and rinsed her mouth out with water, to get rid of the bile in her throat.

Oh my god, as a thought suddenly hit her. Please, please no she thought.

She ran back to her laptop, in the kitchen. She pulled up the email, Rose had been correct there were at least 30 names above the scroll bar, indicating that there were still other recipients on the list.

Please, please don’t let their names be on the list.

Their names were there, what was she was going to tell them.

She heard the front door open signalling that Tunde was back.

Chai! This girl don see Enitan finish....To think that she is also never gonna hear word from Tunde again because of this very unpleasant craziness, husbands go back to their wives when shaat hits the fan.

Tunde though..ehn!

Chapter 5

She watched him come into the kitchen.

‘Hiya’ she smiled as she watched him walk into the kitchen.

Enitan picked up her laptop and walked over to the work surface, next to the built in fridge.

Her knife block beckoned her, they had just been sharpened to perfection yesterday, she picked up one of them and studied the beautiful sleek sharp edges.

Shining like diamonds, the sharper the edge the deeper the cut, when one needed nicely sliced meat or vegetables.

I wonder who actually invented the knife. How did we make the move away from stone to the blade?

Knives had always been important to her, due to her passion for cooking. The family always laughed at her when they went away on holidays and she packed her knives.

Her stock in trade answer to them had been, you wanna eat, I need my knives.

The banality of her thoughts, were not lost on her. Anything but, what was in front of her.

‘How was your day?’ Are you all set for your trip tomorrow?’ she asked

She watched him move towards the fridge, and take out a bottle of beer.

‘Yep, where’s my dinner’ as he looked around the kitchen. Noticing the dining table hadn’t been set.

‘Tunde, you told me specifically that you would be home late and you would be eating at, as she made the inverted quotes sign with her fingers ‘your club’

‘I don’t remember saying that’ he said.

‘Maybe all the fu..cking you did today addled your brain’ Enitan said.

‘What are you talking about; you are always going on about something’ annoyance and menace on his face.

‘Are you going to prepare my dinner or not’ the irritation obvious in his voice.

‘No, go and ask Linda or whatever her name is to make it for you. Considering you have just dropped a big wad of cash on her this afternoon’ as she pressed play on her laptop.

‘Can you explain this?’ she asked as the sounds of him with his strumpet filled the kitchen.

‘What’s this’ he said

‘Look I don’t have the time to listen to some random video with you’ he said, as he walked back to the fridge.

‘I have an important meeting tomorrow and I need to get up early’ as he rummaged through the fridge for food.

‘Tunde that is you, with the girl you have been seeing for the past two years.’ Enitan screamed

‘Look Enitan, I don’t know what you are talking about’.

‘Why are you screaming?’ he said

‘That is not me’ he replied, his tone dismissing her.

‘Do you need to see a doctor, it seems that you are suffering from stress.’ he continued.

The rage she had kept under control bubbled to the top. She turned the laptop out towards him for him to see.

‘Tunde that is you there, that is you with that woman’ she screamed.

‘How can you say it’s not you?’ she said

‘So even it is me, what are you going to do’ he replied

‘You can’t cook and you can’t fu..ck’ disdain written all over his face.

‘She keeps me young, unlike you. Being with you makes me feel old.’ He laughed in her face.

‘Plus if that is a video you have put together, the only one who will be disgraced is you’ he continued laughing, as he walked out of the kitchen with his bottle of beer.

‘Most people will see me as a stud’ looking back at her and giving her a wink.

Enitan lost it and picked up the knife.

Let's hope she doesn't' "chuk" him, cos boko haram has done enough, already.
