XX01: Could be for any number of reasons; maybe the time of your arrival coincided with when some cranky, irritable CBP officers were itching to be relieved from their shift or one gets lucky when one's fatigued face and swollen feet is evident to all, but above all, it was my singular prayer throughout the flight from Dubai to Dallas that I would meet with POE favour. 1 Like |

It will be collected at travelex. Met pple who slept over at travelex becos their flight was by 1pm the next day and they got. |

In the spirit of giving back, I am here to give my Poe testimony. LA Poe is sweet and I bless God for his favour over my life. I came in at 4:50pm LA time on Sunday and I used the automated machine then proceed to the Cbp officer but before then one of the guy asked why I have two passport and told him the old one is where I have my travel history and it's needed so that it will be known that I have travelled before and he chuckled says that's true. To the main interview: Me: Good evening Me: didn't know whether he answered or not. I sha hand over my passport to him Cbp: What are you here for Me: To give birth to my baby Cbp: How long? I tot he was asking how long I am and I told him I am ..... weeks he now said how long am I staying is what he's asking... told him my weeks too Cbp: Where do you work? Me: Told him Cbp: Stamp me till May 2017 and told me have a nice stay. Na so I carry my belle go collect my bag oh and was sent for secondary inspection because I declare food. When I got there I was asked the same question then the question now make the officer and I started gisting oh for like 5 minutes that we were both laughing together and people passing were looking surprisingly as if we have know each other for so long. At the end he now ask what food and amount am I carrying and I told him. And he said. "Madam bye bye and enjoy your stay in LA. Na so I carry big belle commot oh PS: No document checked, no question about Doctor or accommodation asked even my bag was not opened. I just want to say am an evidence of Gods favour. By the way, despite the long flight I tried to refresh my make up immediately we landed. Wish all mother successful entry and delivery of our LO. Shalom 31 Likes 1 Share |

temmyo: TEMMYO you are right o ( i perceive you are a lawyer!!!!) BUT.....could there be a scenario where the law is repealed and a child can no longer get a passport even with a valid birth certificate, assuming they did not get one at the time of birth? Isn't it this possibility that makes everyone get the passport ASAP rather than years later? In general, I think (and I may be wrong o) that in any country it's the passport that confers citizenship, just happens that in the US a US birth certificate entitles you to the passport. Justwise any thoughts My sister TemmyO and i are just doing some mental gymnastics. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Nobody: 9:29pm On Nov 14, 2016 |
mamaron:Actually it's not the passport, it's the b.c and the country of birth, I have a cousin who was born in Scotland like 30 years ago and passport wasn't collected, fast forward to now law for passport on birth has been repealed, all he has to do was apply to the embassy in lagos with b.c and they called when his passport was ready and he relocated as simple as that, so my sister no be passport na birth place. Second part is what if they say those that were born before the law was made o no more passport I doubt there will be a law like that because other advanced countries that repealed the citizenship on birth thing did make such laws, making a law is actually a very long process from the drafting to the debating to the assent or veto and the likes etc 3 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by temmyo: 9:43pm On Nov 14, 2016 |
mamaron: A passport is simply a travel document. There are several Americans who do not have passports. The average American has never left his city to go visit in another state not to talk of another country. What happens to them if your scenario plays out? There are many still that do not even have their birth certificate because they have never had cause to need it (though every ones birth certificate exists at the records office it is your decision whether or not you want to go get it). when one applies for a passport, the US passport agency uses the birth certificate to verify said persons citizenship before the passport is issued. If the law is repealed I doubt it will be retroactive so as to bar people born before its repeal from claiming the status. so no. In no country in the world does a passport confer citizenship. I stand to be corrected. 4 Likes |

temmyo: Very true. My BIL was born in d uk in 1978, his parents moved back to naija a few yrs after. They neva got him his passport, not even sure a birth certificate was collected. But after he graduated from uni in 2003. He processed both n is now living in d uk as a British citizen. Even if u dnt collect d birth certificate immediately, the records are still there and can be chkd and verified anytime. If the law will b repealed, it'll take a long process and will usually start from a future date (I think) not later so usually doesn't affect pple that are already born. (I may be wrong. Just using the way UK did it's own as my reference) 4 Likes |

mamaron: I don't see him coming up with any immigration policy that will affect those who have the citizen by birth already. Though he may try to tighten-up the immigration rule just to keep line with his campaign promises. |

2nd missionary journey finally over. Mum Visa I asked for opinion wen I applied for my mum visa, she was actually denied without them checking anything,so what i did was to write the consular on her behalf nd I also sent a mail to the consular that I have a toddler nd expecting a baby and I need my mum assistance. I also booked emergency appointment, I attached d receipt for Doctor and hospital, so the appointment was approved and her visa was granted with her saying d same thing as previous interview and they did not check anything. Birthing I had my baby Oct 1 at oakbend and used Dr Ezekiel, dat morning I saw the bloody show and contraction was regular, so I called my Bro to take me to the hospital, wen we got there we were gisting so the nurse was looking at us like jokers, Wen dey took me to d room to check how many cm I was dilated nd she saw 4cm with regular contractions, she was surprised cos we were laughing nd making jokes, I refused to take epidural ooo and seriously it wasn't a bad experience, the only time I almost gave in to epidural was wen I was given oxytocin to quicken d process but thank God it ended in praise. Dr fee- $1,900 Hospital- $2,300 B&A - $92 Pead- $335 Lab - $119 After discharge we used hope clinic on bellaire and hg6 for baby follow up paid $30 Picked up baby's bcert on d 4th from Fort bend county and booked appointment at downtown for baby's passport and was asked to pick up d 3rd day. Thanks to this wonderful E-family, I used visa on arrival, special thanks to De-soul who helped with it a day b4 our travel date. My advice to others is dat ensure the letter from Nigeria comes from an email, cos dat was d only thing that wanted to cause problem. Baggage Hmmm, thank God I belong to this forum ooo, Egonne1 already gave heads up on how emirates delayed her bags and advised we snap our bags. funny enough I checked in 13bags, (Note: if u pay for extra bag on emirates that bag can weigh 32kg not d regular 23kg.) while snapping I gave up but one of d ones I snapped got missing and we were told it's in dubai and it will come d next day, all for them to call me that they are having problems recovering d bag dat I should fill d claim form nd all, I had receipts for all d items and pictures so I sent to them, and my bag was recovered 2 days after. Thanks to the picture they were able to recover d bag on time. Me I don hang my boot o. 37 Likes 2 Shares |

mamaron: Mamaron... Temmyo already called it, will just shed a little light on this.. Even if there is no PP or BC, as long as there is birth records that can be called up from the database, there is nothing that can take away citizenship from such an individual.... America's jus soli is not something that can just be wished away, Trump worked on fear and paranoia of the people.. He promised that act of congress could repeal Jus soli... Big lie!!! 14th ammendment can not even be repealed unless by constitutional ammendment which has virtually not happened in the US...... I'm going to add a link & highlighted screenshot of relevant section to establish my point.. Not to degrade or insult but a quick check most times removes fear and trepidation... Drumb is full of hot air, he knows his reach, he can only deport illegals, he can't do nothing to born citizens, irrespective of circumstances... It is not called land of the free for fun... Arnold Schwarzenegger left his native Austria, with his thick slurred english governed a state, how many places dat go fit happen for this world? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthright_citizenship_in_the_United_States 3 Likes
