Please since when did that one start? Wasn't Iheanacho just playing SS? Omuero, Ndidi all these guys have played different roles, as the games fit so goes our tactics.
Onazi has played that role in every match under Rohr. We take Mikel out bring in a DMF and Onazi plays Mikel's spot. He brings the press and we win the ball high up and i feel he can do even more up there.

You answered the question you are asking. Onazi played that role when we took Mikel out Abi? Then Ndidi had to shield the defence.

Mikel will most likely start our next qualifiers games. Same with Etebo. Now we need a defensive shield. Either Onazi wants to play it or not.

Mikel is not sitting. He creates for others with his simple ticking passes. He keeps us possessive with his passing.

If Mikel plays as a pivot with Onazi, Onazi has to sit and Mikel roam. Onazi is not a better passer than Mikel, long or short.

So if Onazi does not want to shield the defence, he should make way for someone who is ready.

What is wrong with Mikel roaming? Is this going to be the first time he is doing it? Mikel is one of the finest DMFs in the world.

We would need to try out different formations in the Eagles. And the prospect of playing Iheanacho, Iwobi, Etebo or Aluko is very enticing. All of them can give good passes.

Immediately, he misplaced the pass, he put his defence in trouble.

I am not criticising his ability, he is an important player.

Now this is where the scandalousness comes in, was he the only one with misplaced passes? U r to judge his whole performance not stick to one single mistake u saw. Every single player lost the ball at least once so why are we magnifying only Onazi? Why when there is a new player we all raise Onazi's hands as the one we drop? He actually had a fine and brave game but u can hardly hear that being said.

At least u r not the coach that would be harder to swallow than Trumpsmiley

I think that phrase should go to you because we had different coaches during Onazi's time as a Super Eagles player. Most played him as a shield.

Wanting him to play a more advanced role is strictly wishful thinking. No one will put Mikel behind Onazi.

His misplaced pass led to a goal but he made a few others. I am not hinging his performance on one misplaced pass. The defensive midfield area was the weakest part of our game and at some point Onazi faded in that game.

I have not mentioned any 'new player'. I am giving you my perception of the game.

AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Cameroon
How Algeria will qualify for World Cup at expense of Nigeria - Captain
[/size]
Algeria captain Carl Medjani has said he believes his team could still qualify for the 2018 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

The Desert Foxes are one of the leading teams in Africa and were widely tipped to win a “Group of Death”, which also has Cameroon and Zambia.

However, after two rounds of matches, they are bottom of the standings on a point.

“We can still qualify for the World Cup,” declared the 31-year-old Leganes midfielder.

“We need to win our remaining four matches and hope the Super Eagles lose a game before their final match in Algeria.”

Nigeria are runaway leaders of Group B with six points after two rounds of matches.

In August 2017, they will first play host to Cameroon, before they travel for the reverse fixture four days later.

Algeria, on the other hand, are bottom of the standings and they will face Zambia in Ndola in August and welcome the Chipolopolo days later.

In October, Nigeria host Zambia and Algeria will be away in Cameroon, before the qualifying series are rounded up on November 6 with the Eagles away in Algeria and Cameroon out in Zambia.

it's good not to be one in this kind of punching calculator to know when to qualify

It's really a turnaround

The discussion is not Mikel Roaming. Mikel roamed in the game against Zambia. Iheanacho played attack midfield and Onazi shielded.

The discussion is Onazi Roaming. Which is a No, No.

I have no business with Onazi in this discussion. I rewatched the match today and he is not as bad as I first thought. This discussion is about Mikel. He can sit with Onazi and free up one space ahead of him for Iheanacho, Iwobi, Etebo or Aluko.

Looolll... I remembered when you killed it saying Iheanacho is a fox-in-the-box striker only.... That sent me into coma...looollll

Ofcos Analysis is not easy. It is complex to the ignorant but should be made simple. Whatever you cant simplify means you dont understand so well... smiley

Vargas and Sanchez argument went the way it went. And yep Vargas was Chile's actual main man up-top. Playing Sanchez was purely due to the coach's tactics. At Copa America 2016, Vargas led or u didnt see that as well? Dont wanna dwell too much on that abeg...... It belongs to the past.

So plsss... Accept that you were wrong... Mikel played in the central AMF position.

Etebo roamed and didnt sit... He was box-to-box-kinda... NOT sitting-kinda.

STOP TRYING SO HARD TO "SAVE" YOUR REPUTATION... Loollll... That's if you've got one.

It's not harmful learning from a youngster. Is it? wink

Swallow that pride of yours... smiley

So much for being the "tactical" one.... Loolll

@Goldfish80 No No, Mikel played AM on saturday, Etebo played B2B. That Etebo have Horse plus carmel heart, saw him everywhere.

U r too ridged to be our coach. Rohr is flexible, he has already used him there and i won't be surprised if he starts there once or twice.

Musa Muhammad is one player that needs to find a way to play regularly. When Omeruo got hurt, the coach did not trust him enough to put him on. If by next year, we have Ebuehi, Idowu, Ola Aina etc... I doubt, he will even get a look-in.

From the time, Ndidi came on, Nigeria took control. Rohr changed the tactics and left only Ndidi as the pivot. Onazi and Etebo played in front of him. Very interesting

I watched some clips of Aluko today after he picked up the Championship Player of the Month, and he was excellent. He can produced even more than Etebo did since he packs skills with his work rate. Then Nwobodo is an excellent choice too. Bundle of skills, hardworker. I want Rohr to give him a chance.

Rohr should invite Akpoguma and Ejaria

Akpoguma says he is not interested. The guy is not even playing at a respectable level.

Ejaria should be left alone to cement a place in the Liverpool team. He says his heart is with Nigeria, so hopefully he won't get 'stolen' when he becomes a star.

Wait...please what is your argument?

Someone said it was time we unshackled Onazi and give him a more advanced role. That is, have someone sit behind him to shield the defence. He used a term, a kind of Vidal.

I disagree because with Etebo and Mikel in the side, it will prove difficult playing Onazi ahead of any.

So, if Onazi does not want to sit, then he needs to make space for another.

U know i didn't mean Mikel so don't derail us. Yu said he should only play as a shield but the coach has used Onazi further up meaning the coach also sees that in him. So how can u say he can only play one DMF or sit. We have to be willing to try new things if they help.

I said, Rohr saw Onazi was not performing well shielding the team. Brought in Ndidi by removing Mikel.

Unless you want unshackling as a Sub. With respect to our starting line-up, we have Mikel and Etebo. We need someone to sit. It so simple.

Wouldn't it have been easier to remove Onazi and keep Mikel? Are u saying the coach rewarded Onazi for his bad play? This has been done since Tanzania it is no fluke, the coach likes Onazi at the position if not Mikel it will be Onazi.
