[quote author=lanre2009 post=50260073]Are bio digesters readily available in Nigeria now....I know it is popular in Kenya [/quot I can build you a bio digester if you really need one. The cost will depend on the quantity of waste you are planning to process, which in turn will depend on the number of your animals. |
Re: Pig Farmers Lets Meet Here by money4god: 2:26pm On Nov 15, 2016 |
For all the farmers with pig waste disposal issues, bio digester is your viaible long term solution. Even if you don't make use of the biogas, a biodigester will drastically reduce odour from your farm by degrading your pig manure into odourless substances. |

My sows are giving birth at an alarming rate and with this comes the need to expand, and with a 9 inches block going for N200, I am tempted to use wood slab for constructing new pens. Please if you have used wood slabs in the past, or you still use it, kindly let me know how strong they can be for pen constuction. My plan is just to use it for like two years before I am financially stable to construct with block again. Thank you. |

Walla79: I have a friend who has been using wood and wire mesh to construct his pens for years without issues... it should work perfectly for you too... but try to use concrete flooring tho |

Just discovered this thread. Wow!! great work. Will need time to read all the comments. I hope someone can answer a few questions. What is the most common breed farmed in Nigeria in intensive settings and why? Where do Nigerians source their stock from and how easy is it to import pig stock into the country. It seems to me most people expect their pigs to be about 70-80 kg by the time they arrive at market but in Europe it could be double this. Is this an issue of breed or practice and why can't we farm these higher yield breeds I hope my questions are not too many 1 Like 1 Share |
