With the results from the last Auction on the amount raised by the CBN, we would expect the rates to skyrocket (this will not be drastic as the CBN has so many borrowing channels).

For example , CBN only managed to raise
22 Billion out of expected 45 Billion for 91days Auction.
18 Billion out of expected 23 Billion for 182 days Auction.
46 Billion out of expected 54 Billion for 364 days Auction.

These figures implies that CBN NTB was nearly 30% underfunded at the last Auction. The reasons are probably due to unattractive interest rates, competition from MMM.

The CBN will try to gain back more investors by maintaining competitive interest rates, shutting down MMM grin

Therefore we expect higher interest rates going forward.

With the increased inflation I think it's safe to stick with last auction rates or maybe even go a little bit higher. What do you guys think?

What if I want to opt out before the maturity date?

Did anyone try?

What are the basic procedures and what is the experience like?

Thanks as you reply.

Please how is it calculated
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by sanerugwei: 6:11am On Nov 16, 2016
Abbey1987:

Please how is it calculated
The OP above already gave you the breakdown.
Its simple interest.
P*T*R/100=Interest
Where P is your principal, in this case 5M,
T is time, divide by12 if in months, 91days=3months = 3/12=0.25
R is rate in percentage, hence R/100.

Got it?

Please anyone with useful information on CBN bills and CBN's Open Market Operations (Government securities)?

I also put 14.0% for 91 day. No chance at all. Watch the economic news for the next few days to know what bid to prepare for the next auction.
