Here are photos from the OccupyNASSunltd protest organised by showbiz boss, Charlyboy on November 15th 2016 at the national assembly in Abuja.

It was a peaceful protest tagged #OPENNASS. The group made several demands to the government one of which was the scrapping of Nigeria’s upper legislative house, as well as accountability in the budget process.

The protest began at the Unity Fountain, near Transcorp Hilton Hotel, with the demonstrators carrying placards and Nigeria flags singing anti-government songs. Below is a list of demands the group made;

A unicameral legislature, Reversal of the Senate’s recent amendment of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) and Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Act, Removal of the immunity clause for criminal matters,Discontinuation of the practice of constituency projects and Abolition of the joint state and local government account.

Arriving at the main gate of the National Assembly, the demonstrators hoisted placards, flags and even tied banners to the national assembly gate forcing the security operatives to shut down the entrance.

this is my problem with Nigerians ... we all murmur and groan that times are hard .. that the reccession is for the poor yet if it were against jonathan ... we would fill up the streets ... even the protesters i see here...most cannot even understand what is written on the placards they are carrying ... they all look like they dont mean the protest ... how then would we be taken seriously ... i didnt join because i foresaw this ... we are our own problem and until we sit up ... we are always gonna be taken for granted by these polithievesians...

I think people are afraid of police shootings. If not, the situation of the country is enough to push everyone to the streets.
