It happen in the garden of Gethsemane, when soldiers were coming to arrest jesus. Peter drew out his sword and sliced of the ear of one of the soldiers. If jesus hadn't told him to stop, he and the other two disciples with him would have slain the entire company of soldiers that night.

So as you can see, jesus surrounded himself at all times with twelve mighty men of valor who were always armed with weapons.

The question is...was that knife or sword for guarding Jesus or it was carried as part of the Jewish tradition just like the Fulani will carry swords around?
