chibertha: Wakanow allows you to pay in naira but might be more expensive. If you have a dollar card use google flights there are lots of cheap flight tickets there. |

Fyorgyn: Nice summary, the safe balance acct is definitely the best bet. I also remember that the regular savings account has a limit to the no. of withdrawals you can make monthly. (6 per month or so). After you have reached the limit, you get charged per withdrawal. You also have to maintain a min balance of $300 or get charged $5/month as maintenance fee 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by chibertha(f): 10:23pm On Nov 16, 2016 |
Chanbaby: In as much as you got the ticket through an agent I suggest you call the airline to find out for yourself the real gist. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by boldinc(m): 11:47pm On Nov 16, 2016 |
I will advise you either get your ticket as it is and call the airline after you have delivered and are ready to add your baby's ticket to yours OR you get your money back and book online yourself from either the airline's website or Wakanow/Travelfix/Travelstart.com No matter the type of ticket you buy, cheap or not, you can always add an infant's ticket to it... Hello mamas and papas! How is everyone doing? It is time for me to give back. I already shared my Poe experience a couple of months ago. I used hospital of providence in El Paso through doctores. Fees are pretty much the same as quoted on their website. It was a wonderful experience for me. Delivery room was too fine, felt like I was in a luxurious hotel room I was in El Paso for about 14 weeks. I stayed at Extended stay America. Cost- $2600 Hospital bill- $2700 for vaginal delivery Obgyn- $ 2500 Ultrasound can- $200 Hearing test- $267 Pathology for baby- $190 Pathology for me- $90 Circumcision- $185 Transportation- I used uber, very convenient and cheap compared to regular cabs. Since Naira denominated cards are now restricted for use abroad, you can link your dollar card. Pediatrician- $250, then subsequent visit $70 My mum joined me a month after I arrived El Paso, thank God for her life. My mother in law also came to El Paso hehehehe... Lucky me. Birth certificate was ready after 4 working days, consent form was notarized at US embassy in Abuja. Hubby mailed it through DHL, received it after 2 working days. U.S. Passport- $165 for expedited fee, it took 1 working day. I had the passport 3 weeks before I was due to travel home, I didn't want any stories with Naija visa or passport Naija visa- $385, took 3 working days. Infant ticket- $380, I also paid for bassinet seat for $35 per route i.e hou- fra, then fra-Naija Lufthansa gave me a lot of headache concerning this infant ticket, after paying for the ticket I thought everything was ok only for me to go to the airport to make enquiries requiring excess luggage and I was told my baby didn't have a ticket. I immediately called their customer service and they said it was rectified and that the ticket was issue and sent to my mail box. When we got to Houston on our way home, I tried to get a boarding pass for myself, my mum and my baby. Only for me to receive the shock of my life that my baby doesn't have a ticket. I almost shouted the airport down. Unfortunately my phone got bad and I couldn't show the infant ticket I had to the man at the check in counter. I asked him to call Lufthansa that there was no way I could pay for a bassinet seat without having an infant ticket. He told me he doesn't call airline customer services for passengers can you imagine? This is a staff for Lufthansa o. I was so pained. Told me that we will not fly that my baby doesn't have a ticket. Somehow I remembered the confirmation number for my baby's ticket because it was similar to mine. He still said he couldn't find it on his system. That I should look for a pay phone and call Lufthansa. At this point I was really pissed. He then had the nerve to ask why I was shouting at him when he was trying to help. Help how? When he blatantly refused to call to find out what was going on. I walked out and my mum was already panicking. Our phones were not working. I eventually found a pay phone and then the announcement was made that boarding was about to start. I was able to speak to a customer care agent and I poured out my frustration on the poor woman. This thing pained me because I was told in confidence that my bs bay's ticket had been issued and now I was almost stuck in Houston. The lady said my baby has a ticket, I screamed at her that why is the man at the counter telling me rubbish that my baby cannot fly. I demanded for the ticket number and to my dismay it was completely different. The lady apologized profusely and said I should go back to the counter that she will hold on. I marched back to the check in counter and gave him the ticket number. His supervisor was already saying I should pay for another ticket there, then later they will refund the money for the first ticket please read the last statement I made. How can they refund the money for the first ticket when they claimed I didn't have a ticket for my baby to start with. I just ignored the man. The first man that attended to me now said that the machine isn't accepting the ticket. I bluntly told him that it was his problem not mine. He should rectify it and give me the boarding passes. He then had to call Lufthansa. I said " I thought you said you don't call Lufthansa office for passengers"? This same airline refused to send me the correct ticket and you as a staff working for the airline you cannot assist. Let me stop here abeg, I am already getting angry recalling this nasty ordeal. Bottom line is we got our boarding passes and we got home safely. My little king behaved. Flight was cool. The air hostesses adored him. I forgot to add that excess luggage was $200 per box. I wish everyone well. God bless you all. 32 Likes |

ringofGod: Hi, You dont need the notarized form for obtaining the BC so you can leave it at home. You will only need it at the Post Office or county office when you are applying for LO's passport. Cheers |

Hi house I got my US visa last year and travelled with hubby on vacation in November last year. Spent 2 weeks in the US. My Visa expires in July 2017 and my baby is due in June 2017. This is my first. I have relatives in New Jersey where I could stay. I am yet to discuss with them cos I and hubby just started talking about the possibility of giving birth in the US. I need your advice about the Visa expiration and should I still write the embassy about my intent to deliver in the US? |

Hahaha! #Another Lufthansa chronicles! Still remember my experience in October 2015 when I was sweating onboard despite the fact that it was autumn! Thank God you were all fine at the end of the day. Emirates did me strong things too on my way from Dubai but my mum was doing 'eye service' for their Customer Serv supervisors! When I start doing 'eye service' for you, just know you dnt mean much to me again! Dnt want to say you mean nothing. Eye wey don see finish and ear wey don hear finish! #Sips cranberry juice! I promised myself a long long time ago never to 'sweat small stuff' and just start 'throwing shades' in true Britico fashion! Life is too short, try to enjoy each day whilst you are still here on earth no matter how tough! It is not only the mad man roaming the streets naked that has mental health problems as a matter of fact (no b me talk am)! #Were alasho naa wa like my mum and grandma of blessed memory would say! gurlnext2u: 1 Like |

jaypisces: You can still send the letter to the embassy if you like, but i don't think it's absolutely necessary in your case, since you have used the visa for the original purpose it was issued. Regarding the visa expiration ,the important thing here is that you enter the us before your visa expires. When you are entering at POE it's the duration that the cbp officer stamps you in that matters not the date your visa will expire 1 Like |

dere5: Thanks for your reply. My problem is I'm due June 10th. I'm not sure I will have enough time to get my baby's papers and my baby would not be old enough to travel before my visa expiration. Is there a way to renew the Visa before it's expiration? |

jaypisces: See the most important thing is that d visa should be valid for travel. The cbp officials will stamp u in at their discretion. Even if ur visa expires while u r there.... It's not so important. What's important is the validity of ur stamp. 3 Likes |
