BREAKING NEWS: Jimoh Vs Jegede: S’court Halts Appeal Court As Ibrahim Wins Again by bcomputer101: 2:09pm On Nov 17, 2016 |
Nigeria’s apex court, the Supreme Court has halted all appeal cases before the Appeal Court in respect of Ondo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP’s) candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. The Supreme Court, in a letter dated November 14, 2016 and signed by the Head/Receiving Unit, Mr Mohammad Ndayako, ESQ, confirmed that all appeals in respect of Ondo State PDP matters have been received at the Supreme Court. Specifically in the letter addressed to the Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal, the Chief Registrar said: “This is to confirm you that the records of appeals in respect of the above mentioned Civil Appeals compiled by the Appellants have been transmitted to and received by the Supreme Court Registry, Abuja and given Appeals Nos. SC.953/2016 and SC.954/2016 respectively on November 11, 2016.” In a press statement signed by the Ondo State PDP candidate, Dr Jimoh Ibrahim, the letter has thus put an end to who really is the PDP flagbearer in the state saying: “By this letter, all cases relating to Ondo PDP 2016 will now be adjourned sine die (indefinitely) until Supreme Court rule.” The Supreme Court also confirmed in its letter to the lower court that a Motion for stay of further proceedings was filed on November 11, 2016 in each of the stated appeals and now pending in Supreme Court. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC recently in it final list of candidates for the election declared Jimoh Ibrahim the candidate of PDP to replace Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s anointed choice, Eyitayo Jegede. The decision sparked off agitation from the Mimiko group which headed for the Court of Appeal, Abuja. But the confirmation from the Supreme Court has finally cleared the coast for the business mogul who flagged off his campaign in the state with a mega rally at Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area on Monday with an unprecedented and historic crowd at the Government Field, Ore. Handing over the party’s flag to the “authentic standard bearer of the party”, Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff said: “Today, we have begun the journey. On November 23, I will come again to close the it when we will have the grand finale of the campaign.” Eloquent Jimoh Ibrahim assured Ondo State people that he was on a mission to transform the state after the devastating misrule of governor Mimiko in the last eight years whereby workers, pensioners and public servants are languishing in penury over unpaid salaries and other emoluments for months. His words: “I will pay all back log of salaries currently being owed by the state and restore light to those areas that have being in darkness for so many years, within my first 100 days in office. “I will create wealth and take your poverty away while the state shall take the first position in developmental stride during my administration. “Also in my first 100 days at governor of this state, I promise to reintroduce the boarding system to hundred Government owned secondary schools across the state, to bring back lost glory and high education standards enjoyed by students in the past. “The fully boarding system was what sharpened and built our educational and moral standards back then as students which had continued to be our guide and approach to life in business engagements and political participation. “The person that will make me governor is God; how He is going to do it, only Him knows. What we’re fighting is injustice and not that we’re forcing ourselves on the people; but we’re preaching equal justice and fairness to all districts in the state where every area will be treated equally in wealth distribution and infrastructural development.” source: http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/jimoh-vs-jegede-scourt-halts-appeal-court-as-ibrahim-wins-again/ |

PDP to some might appear to be in shambles but they know what they are doing. All I see is multiple candidates teaming up to secure the maximum votes against other parties with single candidates. That's just unacceptable. |

I dont ve any particular candidate that i am supporting in the upcoming Ondo state elections bt i am totally against this Jimoh Ibrahim of a man,Ibrahim has absolutely nothing to offer if he eventually wins,he is only coming to loot and destroy,a man that hasn't been able to manage most of the companies he bought from the last privatisation exercise, all he did was to knockoff those establishments and ask for intervention funds like he did with Virgin Nigeria. He got the Aviation Intervention Fund and instead of him to use it for the purpose it was meant, nope Jimoh took flight with the funds to Ghana and established a bank and an insurance firm with the funds,a conman par excellence. Robbing Peter to pay Paul i guess,Lest I forget, where is Newswatch magazine This man is a crook,he is only coming to romance and ve a date with the treasury of Ondo state,a man that currently owes his workers a backlog of salaries with no hope in sight of paying is a bad manager and shouldn't be entrusted with our commonwealth. I think it's high time a law was made barring anybody who has an establishment outside the shores of Nigeria from contesting, they re not patriotic enuf and don't believe in the Nigerian Project because if they did, they would ve set them up in Nigeria to generate employment for her teeming young population. Ondo people shine ur eyes,I will be more than heartbroken if this dude wins, wat does he know abt politicking? Common,we re not talking buying and knocking off industries which is his area of specialisation. 2 Likes |

NgcoboP:There is no crisis. This headline is misleading as the supreme court has not given any order stopping the appeal court proceedings of the appeal court. In fact the appeal court is sitting as we speak 1 Like |

2. Appeal Court Rebuking Poroye/imoh Ibrahim Lawyer of not submitting his brief. And also Nworfor filling 2 separate briefs for Poroye and Ibrahim which is against the law. Nworfor: My Lord the brief is not ready as they worked on it all through the night, blames d TSA for d delay. Justice Salauwa: Nwofor what do you wants knowing fully well time is of the essence & d case must be treated on merit. Nworfor: my Lord I requests that the case be stood down until my subordinates completes d filling process of d brief at d registry. Justice Salauwa: the application is hereby stands down the registrar is hereby directed to go retrieve the briefs at d registry in 1hr maximum. After about 1hr: 30mins. Nworfor: My lord the briefs with me are d unfilled ones still waiting for d registry Justice salauwa: "Learned SAN, WE ARE STILL AWAITING YOUR BRIEFS". Wole Olanipekun (Jegede Coinsel): goes tough, says Nwofor is taking the court for granted for not filling his respondents briefs. Justice Salauwa: We will not allow anyone to mess up the temple of justice. Wole Olanipekun: I prays the court to grant my prayers as contained in my briefs of arguments. Nwofor: my Lord i stand om my earlier position of the Appeal panel jurisdiction to hear the matter based on pending appeals. Nworfor: But in the alternative is that if the law allow the Court to proceed imspite my earlier position on its Jurisdiction, he has no choice but to adopt his briefs of argument and prayed that Ahmed Markafis appeal be dismissed. Justice Salauwa: learned SAN Nworfor thanks for filling your briefs, we have nothing personal against anybody, what we are after is justice and decorum". INEC counsel Anih: My lord the commission has no stand on the appeal and would be relying on the court's guidance. Oluyede: Sheriff-led PDP Counsel, my lord I aligns with the briefs of Nwofor, expresses inability to get it ready at the material time. Wole Olanipekun: In his response to Nwofor's respondents brief, my lord when an appellants files 2 briefs, The law rely on the 2nd one. (Gambo vs Gutigi). Wole Olanipekun: Nwofor havin raised a point of him filling 2briefs forgot that he also submitted 2 briefs for Poroye &ors. Justice Salauwa: The worst thing I hate in my life is failure, & my judgements is always hinged on God's biddings. At this junction Nwofor is visibly confused. As INEC lawyer still insists on readiness to accept court decision. Justice Salauwa: At this junction the Application suit is ripe for Judgement which will be communicated to the counsel's. https://www.nairaland.com/3469563/ondodecides2016-day-2-pdp-substantive 1 Like |
