13. Jobberman Jobberman is the king of all job boards. This website took job search accessibility to a whole new level. Its influence is so much felt that hundreds of thousands of job seekers, including myself (of course am looking for job too…lol), rely so much on the services they render. It was co-founded by Opeyemi Awoyemi, Olalekan Olude and Ayodeji Adewunmi on the 16th of August 2009. The influence of this website is felt even beyond the shores of Nigeria. This can be verified from the comments madeby Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, about Jobberman prior to his first ever visit to Nigeria. Respect to all other job boards, this website opened the door for them. 12 Likes 2 Shares

12. OLX Do I need to make further introduction about the no 1 classified website in Nigeria? I don’t think so. This is another website whose influence on Nigerians cannot be underestimated. It was co-founded by French blogger and entrepreneur, Fabrice Grinda and Alec Oxenford in 2006. This website successfully and almost singlehandedly changed the way Nigerians buy and sell goods, products and services online. Another influence this website have on Nigerians is that many prospective webmasters wants their classified websites to be just like OLX. 5 Likes 2 Shares

11. Konga K-O-N-G-A, you haven’t heard of that before? Well, this is Nigeria’s first indigenous e-commerce website. This website opened and paved way for other e-commerce giants such as Jumia, Yudula, and host of others. Konga have influenced and still indirectly influencing Nigerians. So many Nigerians buy goods from online stores today while a reasonable number of Nigerians are showing interest daily in opening an e-commerce store. 10. Naijaloaded Remember the days of tweaking, free browsing configuration and those unlimited MTN browsing manipulations? This website was the king in those good old days. It is also the blog that pioneered free music and video download alongside news and other gist which so many blogs are emulating today. It was created by Makinde Azeez in 2009. Naijaloaded have so much influence on Nigerians to an extent that it is the first blog that comes to mind when you want to download your favourite song/video for free! Go to Google and search for blog template, two third of prospective webmasters in the entertainment niche wants to have Naijaloded blog template. I have listened to tones of DJ mix, even on live radio; and often times I hear “more music at Naijaloaded dot com”. 45 Likes 5 Shares

9. Xvideos This is rather a negative influence but who am I to judge. I believe categorically that this website is creating a negative influence on so many Nigerians. Ever since this website broke into the Nigerian internet space, same sex relationship and sexual intercourse have been on the rise as it promote so many erotic images and videos. Ask a Nigerian porn addict for a website where you can download a porn movie, this website will be the first to be mentioned. It was launched on March 1, 2007, however, the identity of the owner remain top secret. 8. Linda Ikeji’s Blog This is arguably Nigeria’s number one blog. It opened the world of blogosphere in Nigeria. Through the success recorded by the blog owner, Linda Ikeji, thousands of Nigerians want to be bloggers. This reached its acme when Linda purchased an exotic mansion in Banana Island, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Nigeria, at the cost of #660 million. The following day, blogger platform almost crashed…..lol due to access from Nigeria. This blog also have much influence on Nigerian ladies as it remain their favourite blog. It was created in 2006 but had to wait a whole year to begin full operations. 19 Likes 7 Shares

6. Nairaland Hmm…Africa’s king of online forum. Do I need to introduce this wonderful website to you? Hell no! Personally, I don’t feel complete if I don’t check Nairaland in a day. Do you want to talk about the interesting posts by members, hilarious comments, memes, and so much more? No other website owned by a Nigerian can withstand the influence of this website on Nigerians. With over 1.6 million registered members and countless guests. I don’t think anyone should challenge the influence of this website. The website is also a platform that allow bloggers to generate lot of backlinks (traffic) as their posts there reflect on their global and regional rankings on Google. It was created by Seun Osewa in March 2005. 281 Likes 23 Shares

5. Instagram When you talk about a website that changed photo sharing abilities, just mention Instagram, the undisputed king. This website have so many influence on Nigerians to an extent that you hardly spend your day without reading about one “drama” or another between celebs, fans trolls and so many more; all on this popular website. Remember the Linda vs Wizkid feud, it got escalated on Instagram. This website influence is felt to an extent that you hardly see an average Nigerian lady in a happy mood if she hasn’t post her after-party photo on Instagram…(laugh). It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in October 2010. 4 Likes

2. Facebook The king of social media. Is there any Nigerian with internet enabled device without a Facebook account? Either active or inactive, I doubt it. This website have changed the way Nigerians interact forever. Pastors, Imams, Atheists, Priests and loads of others have their accounts created on this very influencing platform. So many Nigerians (including myself) wants to have a platform like Facebook. Even our very own Linda Ikeji was lured into splashing millions on one, LindaIkejiSocial. Facebook was created in February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. 14 Likes 1 Share

Bigajeff:Lol....Am sorry I didn't include twitter. But I do have a twitter account. I screened it out because its influence on Nigerians can not be compared to Facebook on that list. Half of Nigerian twitter accounts are inactive. However, if you insist on the contrary view, am sorry once again that I didn't include it. 12 Likes 1 Share |
