I'm not giving up on you Awoniyi... I'm not... Come on, You got so much talent in you!!! Somehow, I believe you'll come good eventually. Just a matter of time...

.......................................................................

Dutch Journalist Wax Lyrical Over Liverpool
Loanee Awoniyi- He Is Like A Young Van Nistelrooy

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi has earned the
praises of respected Dutch journalist Jermain
Leitbig for his performance for his loan side NEC
Nijmegen even though he is yet to score.

19 year old Awoniyi joined the Dutch side on loan from Liverpool in the summer after a less fruitful spell with German side FSV Frankfurt, who were relegated to the third division at the end of last season.

Awoniyi who scored just once from 13 games for Freiburg is yet to get off the mark for NEC
Nijmegen but Jermain has seen enough to judge
his future, if he develops as expected.

So far he has played 8 games for NEC Nijmegen
and Jermain who has watched six of his games,
says he reminds him of legendary Dutch striker
Ruud Van Nistelrooy during his formative years.

Same thing I hammered about Awoniyi. He has this great ability of getting into scoring positions. Great post from the Journalist. I hope the young man develops that finishing touch that goes with his talent.

Aluko and Ikeme's case in particilar are reasons why i stand against ur comment that "no lower division player be invited".

I stand to defend Shehu Abdullahi's inclusion in the team. That guy is so valuable. He is a utility kind of player. He played under Keshi, Oliseh, Siasia against Egypt and the Olympics. If after watching Shehu all these periods and conclude bc he plays in Cyprus then he should not be invited then u are not being fair.

Anyways that is your opinion of which u are entitled to.

The coaches know the true value of Shehu Abdullahi and they will always pick him ahead of those "your" players.

Bros, you are the first to cry 'we don't want anyha players' but you will be the first to make a u-turn for 'your' favorite players.

Please, maintain a standard and stop d double standard.

So, because he played under different coaches mean he is good, ba?

Shehu Abdullahi doesn't deserve the National team. He should be replaced with Brian Idowu. grin

Don't be supprised cuz he will even do better as time goes on, sunderland's future depends on him and Defoe. If he scores double digits it will be hard for him not to get a call.

The way NFF handled Victor's injury case was pathetic. If he is doing well I think he deserves a call-up.

That was why I was worried when Siasia invited him for the Olympics, because I knew he would be demoralized after Siasia dropped him.

Nigerian fans also helped to damaged his confidence with their mischievous criticism.

Psychological, he has not gotten over the Olympic snub despite helping the team to qualify for the Olympic games.

Portuguese Club CD Feirense Place Hefty
Price Tag On Super Eagles “Kante” Etebo

According to reports exclusively gathered by
Owngoalnigeria.com, Portuguese side CD Feirense have placed a price tag on Super Eagles rave of the moment Oghenekaro Etebo.

21 year old Etebo joined the Portuguese team,
owned by billionaire Nigerian Kunle Soname in
January on a free transfer from Nigeria Premier
League side Warri Wolves.

However despite having limited game time for the newly promoted Portuguese outfit due to injury and paper works, his performances with Nigeria have seen his value soar in the transfer market.

Etebo grabbed the headline at the Olympics in
Rio, when he scored four times in Nigeria’s first
game against Japan, which they won 5-4. His
performances for the Super Eagles against Algeria has also gained global attention.

He has been linked to Spanish side Sevilla and
Valencia with Italian team Fiorentina also
mentioned among clubs chasing his signature.

”CD Feirense won’t hold him back, but interested parties need to meet their valuation. He is rated in the €10 million bracket. That I think is Feirense will demand at the first time of asking,” a source close to the player’s representative told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”The one thing I know for sure is that there’s
little or no chance of him leaving in January. The
most likely option is in the summer, if clubs meets his valuation”.

Who knows Jonathan Ligali well enough? Seems like a Nigerian but he's french-born with parents from Benin-Republic (and we know Benin has a good representation of the Yoruba community...).

Examples: Muri Ogunbiyi, Razak Omotoyossi... Etc.

If Jonathan Ligali of Montpellier can be approached and gotten to play for us then our Search for Ikeme's cover could be over with the likes of Alampasu, Osigwe and Nwokolor to serve as rising extra quality back-ups.

Only problem is His nationality is listed as France and Benin Republic but I know he's Nigerian. My radar says so... smiley

DALUNG’S BOMBSHELL: ‘Nigeria too hungry
to attend World Cup”

Luka Binniyat (with agency reports)

Attention President Muhammadu Buhari: This is what the man you appointed the general overseer of our sports told an international media organisation,Voice of America, Hausa Service: Nigeria does not need to attend the next World Cup holding in Russia.

The World Cup is not just a football competition. It also represents a bigger avenue for nations to
showcase their football artistry to a global
audience, with players getting to secure new and bumper contracts and endorsements, which in turn, impact positively on the country”s Gross Domestic Product and Foreign Direct Investment.

Football is business and the World Cup fetches
money for all participants. It is top in
entertainment and business. Qualifiers even earn more than $5m from Fifa.

Besides the Olympics, the World Cup is by far the single biggest sports competition in the world, drawing record crowd appearances and creating a never-seen like before football atmospheres for its one-month duration.

The road to the next World Cup in 2018 is on,
with the Super Eagles leading the proverbial
group of death with six maximum points from two matches against Zambia and Algeria.

Cameroon, the only African country with the most appearance at the World Cup make up the group, from which only the first-placed team qualifies for the event.

Dalung

Having missed out on a place at the next Africa Cup of Nations, starting in January in Gabon, Nigeria desperately needs to play at the World Cup to make up for the lost chance to play at AFCON 2017 but bizarrely, the one who ought to be championing the cause of going to the World Cup is ridiculously the one kicking against it.

Minister of Sport and Youth Development,
Solomon Dalung yesterday stunned all when he
told the Voice of America that he was against
Nigeria’s
participation at the World Cup.

His reasons: “That competition stinks of
corruption; that Nigeria is too poor to waste
money on it and that Nigeria would never win the trophy”.

The implication of his statement is also that it is not necessary to waste money qualifying when you cannot win the World Cup.

As shocking as these may be, Dalung, a lawyer by training, said Nigeria should be content with
playing at the Nations Cup, Olympics,
Commonwealth Games. He said that Nigeria could win the Nations Cup but not the World Cup.

World Cup finalists are guaranteed huge sum of
money running into millions.

According to Dalung, “The cup that we can win is the African Cup of Nations. There is nothing again that will take us to another man’s balcony in the name of the World Cup. We already have the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. For these, we can attend such meets. But I am opposed to the World Cup. We don’t agree to it. Conspiracy in the World Cup is too much,” he said, a statement that could upset the world governing body, FIFA.

He was not done.

“There is the issue of bribery and favouritism. There is also the issue of corruption before you are even given the hosting rights. We are here suffering from hunger and we don’t have money for such things. That is why, even if we try many times, once it gets into the politics of the game, we can never win.

“That was why this year, we had to tackle him
(FIFA President, Ginani Infantino) and we said,
‘you , Infantino, if you win this election, you have to give us a position. If not, we shall not agree.’

And you see , by the grace of God, he even
picked an African as his Secretary-General. That
means he has started taking honey and rubbing
on our lips. That means that one day, we shall get to really lick the honey.”

This is ridiculous and unbelievable. But they are
the exact words of Sports Minister Dalung, a man, who has allegedly fanned the embers of discord, disunity and crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation.

It is recalled that Dalung was the unseen hand in the crisis of leadership, that rocked the NFF after Chris Giwa threatened to seize power from the Amaju Pinnick-led Executive Board.

Despite CAS and FIFA’s unambiguous backing of Pinnick’s board, Dalung called for a meeting
between Pinnick and Giwa in his Abuja office,
which snowballed into an all-out fight between
both gladiators. As if that was not enough, the
Minister has continuously asked the Amaju led
board to co-opt Chris Giwa and his members into their board, ignoring the fact that membership of the board is through election. It has been from one dispute to another and Nigerian football has been in court.

Truly, football disputes are out of the jurisdiction of the ordinary law court as the Courts of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland sits over all disputes in sports.

The minister’s latest comments confirm him as a total stranger to sports who has bluntly refused to learn the ropes.

EXCLUSIVE: Another Dutch-Nigerian Ehizibue Turn Down Latest Approach From Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr

Few weeks after Dutch born Nigerian footballer
Tyronne Ebuehi turned down the chance to be a
part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2018 World Cup
qualifiers against Algeria, another Dutch youngster has turned down Nigeria as well.

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is keen on strengthening the right full back
position of the team, after using five players as
right back in three games as coach.

The mini crisis has forced the coach has into
combing Europe for talented Nigerian players in
the diaspora to boost his options, but one of the
players he has in mind has turned down a fresh
approach.

The Nigeria Football Federation made fresh move to entice PEC Zwolle wingback Kingsley Ehizibue but were told in clear terms, that he is focused on making the grades with the Dutch national team.

”We are no longer on his (Ehizibue) case. We
made fresh moves for him and what we got from his family is that he wants to concentrate on the Dutch national team. He is already playing for the U-21″, a source at the NFF told
Owngoalnigeria.com.

”There are other options we are exploring for the coach, but for now we won’t like to make it
public. The idea is to get the best legs to
represent Nigeria at senior level”.

And may Sango and Amadioha and Thor join forces to strike down Dalung if he mistakenly carries his two left legs into any Russian stadium to watch our games like he did in Rio.

I will find a strong dibia to cook original otumokpo that will cripple the shameless rat if he ever goes to our World Cup games, anuofia

Let them be turning us down, our eventual victory will be far sweeter knowing we did it without any of these fairweather players.

@thegoodjoe and thesupernerd, I hope yara yara is writing down these names to join Nedum and Ibe in the book of persona non grata for future purposes

Onazi can play there and Ndidi play in midfield. Solved. Chidi Nwakali can also play as a right-back.

DALUNG’S BOMBSHELL: ‘Nigeria too hungry
to attend World Cup”
