Ehizibue sees a path to the dutch national team. That is why, he has rejected us. The dutch team is no longer world class and he certainly has a chance to play for them in the near future.

Finidi George is the youth coach of Ehizibue's club but our cable fit don burn for that end..

I was about to mention Finidi George in modififed mode but now that you've done so, there's no need.

Ofcos, Finidi coaches their U-19 or so... And yep... I seriously feel he already knows he cant influence Ehizibue's choice of international allegiance.

The bolded puts it succintly... smiley

Stop arguing with Keshi's haters sir, they will never see anything good in the man even after death.

Until another coach be it foreign or local takes Nigeria to the quarter-finals of the world cup, keshi remains Nigeria's best coach. The present coach we are all celebrating today can still blow our world cup dreams away. Its only two matches he has played so far.

You may go and read people's call of the support Barcelona enjoy from Referees. Maybe, that will make you understand why they can get away with feigning. If the referee is against your team, feigning injuries is suicidal. Or is that too complex for you to understand?

They won laurels with it before people begin open dem eyes. The point is, the tactics worked for them and it brought dem LAURELS. That is what matters.

Referee will always be used as an excuse for losers. That can't be said of Champions. grin

You are funny. You wanted Keshi to ask our players to feign injuries after clear cases of repeated bias judgment.

So why suggest such ridiculous option if you feel losers complain when a ref is clearly bias.

I would not lie there is a lot of incoherence in the way you debate. What is excuse is for losers?

Matuidi committed a clear red card offence. There was no two ways about it. He went over the ball and shockingly stayed on the field. That was after a brutal tackle on Ambrose and an earlier tackle on Onazi.

Yet you come up with excuse is for losers. Simple. The ref was bias. Feigning injuries would compound the bad situation our players were in.

And please, Barcelona did not feign injuries in every game. They did it against physical sides to stop unfair tackles.

While the thought on Ligali lingers check this out..........
.........................................................................

This is Exclusive: I think it's about time we send Dalung's tongue on exile..... Fifa may be corrupt but that doesnt stop us from trying to conquer the soccer world!!! He may be saying a few things which are kinda true but mehn!!! Can y'all just get a load of this guy??!!! His tongue need to be exiled.. Taming it is not an option...
.....................................................................

DALUNG’S BOMBSHELL: ‘Nigeria too hungry
to attend World Cup”

The World Cup is not just a football competition. It also represents a bigger avenue for nations to
showcase their football artistry to a global
audience, with players getting to secure new and bumper contracts and endorsements, which in turn, impact positively on the country”s Gross Domestic Product and Foreign Direct Investment.

Football is business and the World Cup fetches
money for all participants. It is top in
entertainment and business. Qualifiers even earn more than $5m from Fifa.

Besides the Olympics, the World Cup is by far the single biggest sports competition in the world, drawing record crowd appearances and creating a never-seen like before football atmospheres for its one-month duration.

The road to the next World Cup in 2018 is on,
with the Super Eagles leading the proverbial
group of death with six maximum points from two matches against Zambia and Algeria.

Cameroon, the only African country with the most appearance at the World Cup make up the group, from which only the first-placed team qualifies for the event.

Having missed out on a place at the next Africa Cup of Nations, starting in January in Gabon, Nigeria desperately needs to play at the World Cup to make up for the lost chance to play at AFCON 2017 but bizarrely, the one who ought to be championing the cause of going to the World Cup is ridiculously the one kicking against it.

Minister of Sport and Youth Development,
Solomon Dalung yesterday stunned all when he
told the Voice of America that he was against
Nigeria’s
participation at the World Cup.

His reasons: “That competition stinks of
corruption; that Nigeria is too poor to waste
money on it and that Nigeria would never win the trophy”.

The implication of his statement is also that it is not necessary to waste money qualifying when you cannot win the World Cup.

As shocking as these may be, Dalung, a lawyer by training, said Nigeria should be content with
playing at the Nations Cup, Olympics,
Commonwealth Games. He said that Nigeria could win the Nations Cup but not the World Cup.

World Cup finalists are guaranteed huge sum of
money running into millions.

According to Dalung, “The cup that we can win is the African Cup of Nations. There is nothing again that will take us to another man’s balcony in the name of the World Cup. We already have the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. For these, we can attend such meets. But I am opposed to the World Cup. We don’t agree to it. Conspiracy in the World Cup is too much,” he said, a statement that could upset the world governing body, FIFA.

He was not done.

“There is the issue of bribery and favouritism. There is also the issue of corruption before you are even given the hosting rights. We are here suffering from hunger and we don’t have money for such things. That is why, even if we try many times, once it gets into the politics of the game, we can never win.

“That was why this year, we had to tackle him
(FIFA President, Ginani Infantino) and we said,
‘you , Infantino, if you win this election, you have to give us a position. If not, we shall not agree.’

And you see , by the grace of God, he even
picked an African as his Secretary-General. That
means he has started taking honey and rubbing
on our lips. That means that one day, we shall get to really lick the honey.”

This is ridiculous and unbelievable. But they are
the exact words of Sports Minister Dalung, a man, who has allegedly fanned the embers of discord, disunity and crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation.

It is recalled that Dalung was the unseen hand in the crisis of leadership, that rocked the NFF after Chris Giwa threatened to seize power from the Amaju Pinnick-led Executive Board.

Despite CAS and FIFA’s unambiguous backing of Pinnick’s board, Dalung called for a meeting
between Pinnick and Giwa in his Abuja office,
which snowballed into an all-out fight between
both gladiators. As if that was not enough, the
Minister has continuously asked the Amaju led
board to co-opt Chris Giwa and his members into their board, ignoring the fact that membership of the board is through election. It has been from one dispute to another and Nigerian football has been in court.

Truly, football disputes are out of the jurisdiction of the ordinary law court as the Courts of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland sits over all disputes in sports.

The minister’s latest comments confirm him as a total stranger to sports who has bluntly refused to learn the ropes.

Kelechi Nwakali was "awesome" in his side's 3-2 comeback win friday night. Wow!

He won a penalty after a mesmerising strong run from midfield. Had two shots on target which drew strong saves from the opposition goalie. And he just "did his thing". He's fast growing mehn.. Just give him a little more time.

MVV is topping the second division in Holland with Nwakali flying high again. Will drop a related news article in the youth/cadet talents thread.... smiley

SUPER EAGLES: No Way Back For Imoh
Ezekiel, Ighalo & Ezenwa In Danger Of Losing Spot

According to reports exclusively gathered by
Owngoalnigeria.com coach of the Super Eagles
Gernot Rohr, has made up his mind to axe some
players he has invited to the team since taking
over as coach.

We gathered that unless Imoh Ezekiel leaves
Qatar for a bigger league, his international future with Rohr as coach of Nigeria is well over, while the manager is also considering axing goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Rohr has not been overtly impressed about the FC Ifeanyi Ubah shot stopper, and clearly believe
that having young talented goalkeppers as
understudy to his first and second choice would
serve the nation better in the future.

To that effect he is set to stick to the talented trio of SC Kriens Sebastian Osigwe, Dele Alampasu of Cesarense in Portugal and David Nwokolor who keeps goal for Vitez of Bosnia.

The biggest casualty could be Watford forward
Odion Ighalo who could be dropped for a younger player, after losing his spot as second choice striker to Brown Ideye.

All of these changes are however subjected to the performance and movements of these players in their various clubs before the next gathering of the Super Eagles.

WEST HAM UNITED AND LEICESTER CITY ARE
AMONGST THE POSSIBLE DESTINATIONS FOR THE CHELSEA MAN

John Obi Mikel has been a name synonymous with Chelsea FC for over a decade now. The Nigerian has notched up 249 appearances for the London club, scoring a solitary goal in the West London Derby against Fulham in 2013/14.

Despite averaging 25 appearances a season in the league up until last season, the fan favourite at Stamford Bridge has been out of favour with new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte favouring a midfield pairing of N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic. Yet to take the field this season for the Blues, the 29-year-old is looking for a way out in January for guaranteed first team football.

Here we look at 3 Premier League teams that can be a possible destination for the Nigerian in
January.

WEST HAM UNITED

The East Londoners have been struggling this
campaign after a flying performance last season
which saw them finish 7th, ahead of big guns like Liverpool and Chelsea. Currently residing in the 17th position, the Hammers have the third worst defensive record this season. With Spaniard Pedro Obiang not being able to provide confidence in the defensive third, Mikel can be a welcome addition alongside the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate and club captain Mark Noble.

With his experience and ability, Slaven Bilic’s side can definitely improve upon the current situation.

LEICESTER CITY

The Premier League holders have been struggling to replicate their form of last season which they displayed en route to their historic triumph. With the departure of Frenchman N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, a huge void has been left at the centre of the midfield which is yet to be accounted for.

John Obi Mikel can very much be the man the
Champions can look to solve their woes. With
Leicester on the verge of advancing to the round of 16 in the UCL, the prospect of Champions League football can also be an added incentive for the Nigerian. Ironically, he will have the chance to establish his authority on the position of a player who took his place at Chelsea.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Yet another Premier League team who have
struggled real hard this season with their
defensive organisation are South East Londoners
Crystal Palace. Currently sitting a point above the drop zone they have conceded 19 goals in 11 matches this season. The addition of the Nigerian will be a handsome addition to the squad and will help solidify the centre of midfield along side the likes of James McArthur, Joe Ledley and Yohan Cabaye.

Who knows Jonathan Ligali well enough? Seems like a Nigerian but he's french-born with parents from Benin-Republic (and we know Benin has a good representation of the Yoruba community...).

Examples: Muri Ogunbiyi, Razak Omotoyossi... Etc.

If Jonathan Ligali of Montpellier can be approached and gotten to play for us then our Search for Ikeme's cover could be over with the likes of Alampasu, Osigwe and Nwokolor to serve as rising extra quality back-ups.

Only problem is His nationality is listed as France and Benin Republic but I know he's Nigerian. My radar says so... smiley

Sooooo? What about Ligali?

Born to Nigerian parents.

I first noticed him when he featured for France at the 2011 WYC in Colombia. He was their first choice goalie. Recall France won that tourney with Paul Pogba also in that team.

Oliseh, as coach then, once had his eye on him. He is just 24yrs old and I think he may be one for the future and may also prove to be a good cover for Ikeme. He is currently 2nd choice goalie at Montpellier.

Mikel: The secret of my Eagles fitness

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has not
been playing for his English Premiership side,
Chelsea this term.

In fact the player who has been at Stamford
Bridge for 11 seasons says it is time to move on
since the club’s new manager, Antonio Conte has not been looking in his direction. But despite not enjoying playing time at his club, the 29-year old midfielder has been having a fine run for Nigeria.

At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Mikel played a
yeoman’s role, leading the Dream Team to win a
bronze. In the Super Eagles, Mikel has continued to hold forth in the midfield like the rock of Gibraltar.

How has he been coping at the international level since he is being overlooked out there in Chelsea at a time when he would ordinarily have been match rusty?

Mikel who spoke to Saturday Sunsports after the 3-1 victory over Algeria last weekend in Uyo said discipline has been his watchword.

Hear him:”It has not been easy. I m coping and
doing well in the national team because I have
made discipline my watchword. I don’t indulge in things I shouldn’t do as a professional footballer… you know what I mean. I train very well, sleep when I should sleep and also watch what I eat and drink. That’s it. So even when I’m not playing in Chelsea I come to the Eagles fit and ready to play.”

Mikel also gave kudos to Gernot Rohr who has not sidelined him because of his Chelsea
predicament.

“The coach has been supportive and we do what he tells us to do on the pitch. That’s why we are getting result(s).”

Mikel who also spoke on his Chelsea future did not mince words in declaring that it was time for him to move on after 11 years at the London club.

“I have played for Chelsea for 11 years now. There is nothing that says I can’t move. Honestly, a time comes when one has to move. I have to move on, we’ll see how it goes in January,” Mikel said.

It would be noted that since after choosing
country ahead of club for the Olympics, things
have not remained the same for Mikel at the club level.

Meanwhile, Eagles manager, Rohr while
commending Mikel for his leadership role said the player is only paying the price of featuring at the Olympics with his Chelsea no show.

“Mikel played like a true leader against Algeria. He commands the respect of the team, marshalling and putting so much energy into the effort of the team,” Rohr said, adding, “not playing at Chelsea is the price he is paying for his participation in the Olympics. We should all acknowledge the commitment of Mikel to the national team.”

Dimgba agrees terms with Enyimba

Stanley Dimgba has agreed personal terms with
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants, Enyimba FC.

His rise to prominence saw him included in the
Nigerian U-23 team’s provisional squad for the Rio Olympic games. He was listed among the four alternate players for the tournament.

“We have agreed personal terms with Dimgba
who will be part of our team for next season,” a
top official of Enyimba told Goal.

“He is expected to form part of our rebuilding
process as we aim to redeem our image.

“The club is delighted to have won the right to
sign Dimgba and it’s a transfer coup as far as we are concerned. More players are expected to join us to make the team stronger for the challenges ahead,” he added.

This lad can still bounce back and contend for that rightback slot... He needs to make the right move in January and fast too! He can get the "Dani Alves" tag back... It's up to him
........................................................................

How “Nigerian Alves” Musa Mohammed Lost
His Way Following Money Inspired Move To Turkey

The current search for credible options at right
full back by Nigeria would have not been an issue, if former U-17 and 20 captain Musa Mohammed had made the right move.

Offers poured in for the captain after leading his
team of 2013 to glory at the U-17 World Youth
Championship, but the lure of making more
money by his representative from his transfer
made them snub european sides who came for
him.

”I can tell you confidently that Arsenal and
Liverpool were among the first two teams that
came for Musa, but a deal couldn’t be reached
because what they proposed for the then 16 year old was a developmental deal, but his
representatives were on the look out for a big
pay”, Mohammed Kabiru, a close family friend
told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Known for his ability to dominate the right flank
from his full back role, the 20 year old who is very good at set pieces, shone like a million stars for the Nigeria U-20 that won the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal with style.

He picked up Four goals and five assists in the tournament, offers from teams in Belgium, Holland and France poured in but his representatives were once again out for the best transfer fee not the best for his career..

”Offers flooded in even more than his days with
the U-17 but still no deal, instead his
representatives were keen on striking a deal either in Germany or Turkey where the pay is high, no concern or whatsoever about his development”, Kabiru said.

After the 2015 World Youth Championship in New Zealand, he secured a move to Istanbul
Basaksehir shunning strong interest from teams
in other leagues famed for developing young
players and the number one motivation was
money.

”As painful as it is, he moved to Turkey mainly for the money, today he has made lot of it but if he is not careful, it could be all he will ever make in football. He isn’t playing right now, thanks to
connection in high places he is in the Super
Eagles.

”You and I know he won’t last in the team unless he sort out his club career and for now, it looks unlikely even in January, am not sure about clubs trying him out. It’s a pity but that is how he lost his way and the Dani Alves tag”.

NFF: We Tried To Stop Gernot Rohr From
Inviting Victor Moses For Algeria Clash

A top official of the Technical Committee of the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed
that, they did almost all they could to stop Gernot Rohr from inviting Victor Moses for Nigeria’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria.

Moses scored a brace for Nigeria as they ran out
3-1 winners over Algeria to further strengthened
their lead as group leaders in Group B of the CAF
World Cup 2018 Qualifiers.

However some members of the Technical
Committee were not in support of his invitation
for the game, due to reports that he deliberately
skipped the last game against Zambia in Ndola.

The Chelsea wing back called up injured after a
league game for Chelsea, a week before Nigeria’s first World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Zambia, and some Nigerians felt he feigned injury to skip the tie.

”I must confess, some members of the Technical Committee myself inclusive never wanted Victor Moses in the team for the game against Algeria, but Rohr insisted on him”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”Maybe we read the papers too much but we
were convinced to an extent that he skipped the tie against Zambia deliberately but after his
performance against Algeria, am glad Rohr
ignored our pressure to drop him”.

Insert Mikel in Barcelona and he won't make it there at all, because only two persons are allowed to slow the ball down at Barca, Messi and Neymar and tasking Mikel to play a quick game won't work. Daniel Akpeyi: Has He Won the Heart of Rohr?

Alampasu and Akpeyi

Football fans were concerned when the news
broke that Super Eagles number one choice in
goal, Carl Ikeme, would not man the post against
Algeria in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier
played last weekend.

Indeed, the coach of the
Desert Foxes was a relieved man with the report
that the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ safe hand
had been ruled out of the showdown in Uyo,
believing that his job would be made easier.

However, Daniel Akpeyi, a late replacement,
proved more than able as he thwarted most of
the efforts of Warriors at the Eagles’ goal area.

Kunle Adewale, in this report, asks if the Rio
Olympics bronze medalist has warmed his way
into the heart of the Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr

Speculations were rife as to who would replace
injured Carl Ikeme ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup
qualifier against Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio
Stadium, Uyo. However, a day before the
encounter, Super Eagles Technical Adviser,
Gernot Rohr narrowed down his options to Akpeyi
and Dele Alampasu, ruling out Ifeanyi Ubah FC’s
Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

“They have some injuries, we also have some
injuries –our goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, is not there,
but Daniel Akpeyi is a good goalkeeper too,” Rohr
said after the team’s final training in Uyo.

When it became clearer that Ikeme would not be
manning the posts against Algeria, former
goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, expressed his
dismay that the team would be affected by the
absence of its shot-stopper, unless the defenders
put in some extra work to protect whoever would
be in goal.

Ikeme sustained a hip injury in his club’s draw
against Bolton Wanderers and was automatically
ruled him out of the game.

While highlighting the brilliant performance of the
30-year-old in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Zambia in
their first qualifier game, Shorunmu urged the
backroom staff to give strict orders to the
defenders if the Eagles were to come out
victorious against Algeria.

“It is quite unfortunate that Ikeme would not be
available for the match due to injury because we
all saw his performance against Zambia and that
has brought some level of confidence to the
team. So, for him to miss the match against
Algeria, it will be a big minus to the team. At this
point, we just have to give enough support to the
remaining goalkeepers, because I don’t know who
will be picked by the coaches for the match.

However, I will advise the head coach to instruct
the defenders to give enough protection to
whoever will be in goal against Algeria,”
Shorunmu said before the match.

Shorunmu, however, said while Ikeme had shown
great quality since stepping into the national
team set-up, the other three keepers invited to
camp were equally good.

“I think everything is about chance, Ikeme seized
the opportunity that was given to him even
though many did not expect so much, I just hope
the keepers available now will also take their
chance,” he said.

Akpeyi, however, said he received his late call-up
with mixed emotions.

“The truth is that I had
looked forward to be named in the first list but
when it did not come through I kept faith and
focused on my club career.”

Algeria’s coach, Leekens who had heaved a sigh of
relief at the news of the injury to Ikeme before the
game would now be having a rethink after
Akpeyi’s performance.

There were of course those that never doubted
the choice of Akpeyi right from the moment he
was invited as a replacement for Ikeme. Former
Nigeria international, Edema Fuludu said the
Chippa United shot-stopper was the best
candidate to stand in for injured Carl Ikeme
against the Greens.

“Well, Carl Ikeme is injured, fortunately, I was able
to watch a couple of their training sessions in
Abuja before they left for Uyo, Akpeyi is there,
Ezenwa is there and also Alampasu,” Edema told
Goal.com.

“In the goalkeeping department, we have come
to realise that, when Enyeama left, it was like a
big vacuum and Carl stepped in, and we have to
understand that we don’t change goalkeepers
every day.

“So, now that Carl is injured, somebody must take
his place and we must have confidence in
whoever is going to take his position, but I think
that the person, who has consistently been part
of the cover for Ikeme for some time is Ezenwa.

“Goalkeeper’s trainer, Aloy Agu drilled the three
keepers in camp, and we cannot use one training
session to judge them, but from records, Akpeyi is
strong enough, Ezenwa is strong enough and
even Alampasu is strong enough, but I’m rooting
for Akpeyi to be in goal while Ezenwa deputises
him.”

After the 3-1 victory against the Dersert Foxes,
Rohr promised to make the team’s defence better
while backing stand-in goalkeeper, Akpeyi.

The German expressed satisfaction with the
performance of Akpeyi.

“Daniel had a good game;
you can’t blame him for the goal. He was nervous
early on but he grew into the game and did well
for us.”

How much Akpeyi won the heart of the German
tactician and indeed Eagles fans remains to be
seen.

Meanwhile, former national team coach, Joe Erico,
has backed the Chippa United goalkeeper for a
place in the Super Eagles team in subsequent
matches.

“Rohr’s choice of Akpeyi was a good one and it
shows that his good work at his club is
recognised. Nigeria is blessed with good
goalkeepers and Akpeyi had proven himself in
Uyo.

“Akpeyi may find it easy getting a starting role in
Super Eagles’ subsequent games as he was
convincing against Algeria. Ikeme became the
first choice after the exit of Vincent Enyeama –
and he proved his worth, hence the new coach
decided to retain him. Enyeama had other
challengers when he was first choice but none
could outperform him when they had the
opportunity that was why he remained the first
choice for a long time. Goalkeepers get better
with age and Akpeyi is no exception,” Erico said.
Akpeyi would be hoping to continue from where
he stopped with Eagles’ next game against Egypt
in an international friendly.

Ahmed Musa was the reason why we lost to France. Dude was missing easy sitters left, right and center. Even Sani Emmanuel came in and hit the bar to show that the french team then no make sense.

Then there is something critical there too. Griezman played as a midfielder in that team. He later played as a winger for Real Sociedad and now he plays off the striker for Athletico, check that development. That's why the lad can play any position he finds himself in. If our Nigerian academies can adopt similar strategies(like training a fullback as a winger first as well as varying the positions of their young players through the season) then we will develop far better talents. You nailed it on training wing backs first as wingers. That's the new school way of training wing backs.
Example, Hector Belerin was bought from Barca as a devastating winger. He was coached by Arsenal and was converted as a RWB, in Little over 4yrs we are looking at one of the best Wing backs in the morden game.

The training of wing backs have evolved from what we saw in the 90s. Where full backs are first trained as CB.. Guys like Maldini, Thuram etc...

I bring this up because I feel Sone Aluko would have made a world class Wing back if he had the luck of being trained by elite developmental managers like Wenger, Klop, Favre, etc.... Instead he spent most of his time with average British managers in the lower ranks of English and Scottish football who couldn't see beyond their nose.

NFF should leave the manager to handle his team. Why do they feel the need to pressure him to drop a player? We need less fighting between coaches and players. Thankfully, Rohr managed the matter.

Barcelona under Guardiola, especially in his first season held the ball long and distributed it smoothly. I think Villarreal, two seasons ago and the Spanish junior sides under Luis Milla.

When I refer to Mikel playing under a possessive coach, I mean a coach and most important a team who have a history of keeping long possession and relishes slow build-up plays.

Mikel will thrive in such situations. A coach like that will adore Mikel.

In a place like West Ham, you might like Mikel slowing down the play but the fans may criticise it.

Mikel needs the ball coming through him while he distributes it with his ticking passes. These clubs do not have that history.
