CandyDiamond:thats a very myopic view. ok lets see, the igbo man owns the market and the market employs 500 yoruba people. those 500 yoruba people will feed their families and build homes from the money they make from the market and the one igbo guy who owns it will just build one or two houses in the east with his own profit. so the combined money of the 500 workers and taxes to yoruba govt is more than the igbo man will make from owning the market and lagos and abuja have the best houses in nigeria not igboland 3 Likes 1 Share |

RockHard: If your assertions are true, Israel would have been no more. Before the establishment of the Israelite State, they were scattered all over the world and made other parts of the world their home, but today they are returning back in droves and those who still choose to leave abroad are not doing bad. The fact, that the Ibos travel far and wide and are industrious is truly an advantage and a strength. It shows their unique ability to adapt and conquer various difficult terrain. As to your assertions, that they cannot survive in Iboland because they take route in other parts of the country and rely on them for business, that is also myopic. Onitsha market, is one of the major markets if not the major in Africa today. Many people travel from far to this market. If the Ibo expand this concept as there are many unexploited land to develop for business within Iboland. Dubai was a established and is striving today around a single concept, which is tourism. The Ibos can likewise survive and strive around commerce and the world will travel there to seek their services. Also, there is power in numbers, if they can concentrate all those genius industrious brain in a single geolocation and the government comes in to build ultra modern market for them, the skies is the limit. Now, I see other parts of the country suffering a little setback, some part permanent setback, if the Ibos leave...e.g. Go through Alaba International market today or Computer village or any major market you know of in Nigeria and imagine all the Ibos there closing their shops and moving east? Will those market survive? 5 Likes |

sukkottt:Lagos and Abuja are the former capital and present capital of Nigeria with massive development from FG. Name another state in Nigeria without FG support that has the kind housing infrastructure that they have in South Eastern part of Nigeria. For 500 workers that Igbo businesses will employ, that is why they are telling you that you cannot do without the Igbos,if Igbo pull out from Nigeria, Nigeria will be a dead country in next 6 months, that is why FG is trying all it best in Nigeria to keep Igbos in Nigeria, the economic heartbeat of nation is its small scale businesses not macro businesses. 2 Likes |

RockHard:You are wrong my brother, let me explain something you don't know to you, so find time and read below reply. United Kingdom or Britain is a great nation today simply because they were more of explorers, migrants and travelers, exploring every other part of the world for trade, business, religion, etc. It was UK's migration and exploration trait that made them expand to every part of the world, making UK the biggest and strongest kingdom in the world since the early 1900s. It was British people that discovered Australia out of their migration and trade. They are also part of the explorers with Amerigo Vespucci that discovered the now great nation of United States of America. UK's migration made them conquer and forcefully colonize other nations like: just google Commonwealth nations to see the full list of countries under UK colony and indirectly aiding UK's trade deals. Russia would have been a great country today if not for their racism that made them not to migrate, travel, trade and establish businesses in other parts of the world, which is a similar trait the Yorubas have; they remain mostly in their region out of fear of whatever I don't know. Italy, France, UK, Greece, Portugal, etc that are known migrants and traders in the ancient days are the pillars of the world today. If you also study today's business and global economy trend, China and India are doing the same. Chinese and Indian people are migrating to all parts of the world to trade and do businesses, while Japan remain in their home, and you can see how fast Chinese and Indian economies are growing? So my brother, if you want to excel in life beyond human imagination, then be ready to migrate and be ready to trade because buying and selling is the sole aim of every business, industry, company, investment or whatever! Before we die as humans, we must buy and sell something! So all humans are traders of different degree, so fear the Igbos because their migration and trading trait is a quality peculiar to great race! If you doubt it, do more research. I also forgot to mention the Jewish people of Israel! They are good migrants too, and the reason Middle East and the Arab nations can't wipe them out like they wish 7 Likes 1 Share |

CandyDiamond:notwithstanding the bolded, you didnt list that as a condition, you simply said igboland has the best houses and i said it does not as you have alluded to. it matters not to me whether they got massive development from FG. getting massive development from FG is a testament to the intelligence of the people in lagos and abuja. like out of all the states why were those 2 chosen ? its because those two places are full of indigenous wise men who lobbied and got the FG to make their cities the capital. so you have to give kudos where it is due. and this is why those 2 regions have the most development and the best houses 2 Likes |

sukkottt: My friend, your analogy is just wack and completely unfeasible. There's no way a group of Igbo traders will come together to acquire a market and then turn around to lease out all 500 stalls, shops or warehouses only to Yorubas! Haba! Who does that? Not possible even in a Nollywood movie! Secondly, on the issue of Lagos and Abuja they are both Federal cities as far as this country is concerned. The former was previously our capital and the latter our present capital city. So they were and are still being developed with Federal money. On the other hand, Lagos is the only viable State in Nigeria cos of all the infrastructural facilities it amassed over the years. These range from Seaports to the International Airport as well as all manner of industries both small, medium and large scale that are heavily concentrated on the city! So stop boasting cos every Nigerian contributed to the development of both cities. For instance, the 12 billion dollar 650000 barrels a day refinery complex owned by Dangote is a strong case in point. Or is Dangote now a Yoruba man? Tribalism is really a big problem in this country! I can't imagine Americans arguing whether it is blacks, Hispanics or whites who developed San Francisco, New York or Los Angeles for instance. We are really cursed in this nation cos of the quantum of tribal hate that exists in the hearts of our citizens especially the youth the so called leaders of tomorrow! May God help us! 7 Likes |

Dont mind the yeye gov. He always contradits himsellf. Let him give them land to establise market, is that not tribalism rather than encourage unity? Very soon hausa, ibiobio, fulani will ask for their own market. Igbos or the hausas can use the markets to do any neferious activities against the people of the land later in life. The underbridge igbo market in oshodi lagos that Ambode demolished is a good example. Arms and armunitions were discovered underground in the market. Another example is hausa mile 12 market in lagos that has produced several clashes resulting in loss of lives and properties. Yeye governor of my state spewing thrash as usual . No wonder ekiti is backward. RockHard: 2 Likes |

Uhmmmm! Fayose is not thinking well. Igbo people can not be left off from the damage breaking apart will cause, but we all going to pass through it if it occur. If Fayose want to campain, he should go straight and say it, what is he afraid off? Are the igbo people going to eat their business, they need people to transact with. Fayose should becareful! If he give them land or space now. What will happen when he left? This is what is causing big problem in north. Somebody should tell him to think well before... DONGOYARO1:I don't think Fayose is massaging the ego of Igbos here...but he is saying the obvious truth which we all know: Igbos are the backbone of Nigeria's economy! Remove Igbo people from Nigeria and Nigeria will become the next Mali, Chad, Somali and Sudan! If you doubt Fayose, ask yourself why northern and southwestern political elites don't want Igbos to go and still don't want Igbos to become president Believe me, if not for the long period of years northerners have been in presidential power since 1967, Dangote wouldn't have been the richest man in Nigeria. Dangote and most of the northern and southwestern billionaires today all got their wealth through federal government policies which their Igbo counterparts don't enjoy. So imagine if Igbo people have ruled Nigeria for say 12 years, believe me, Southeast would have been heaven on earth with too many billionaires, but still, despite the discrimination and persecution of Igbos in Nigeria, God and nature has always been on their side, helping them to excel beyond other tribes' understanding and belief. If you go to the most costly estates in Nigeria, ranging from - Banana Island to Lekki phase 1, to Nicon Town, to Osborne, to Queens street, Asokoro, to just name it, Igbos own majority of the best houses. If you doubt me, try approaching the management of these estates and make a honest inquiry as a journalist 5 Likes |

sukkottt:Lagos and Abuja were not chosen because they had wise men or lobbied...you need a little dose of Nigeria history. Proximity to the Atlantic was why the Whiteman choose Lagos, their ships can sail easily to land. Most port cities in the world are more developed than their landlocked neighbors. Abuja was chosen because of it's geographical location ie it is somewhat center of Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |
