BCG you mean. Yes, it's necessary. Let him take it. That should be the first thing to do once you arrive in naija b4 people start carrying him.

Good morning mamas!

Just thought to share this and emphasise on the importance of immunizations.

I went to a shop 2days ago and the owner told me hw she lost her infant to tuberculosis. After birth, he had not received the BCG yet and they went home. Someone with tuberculosis came visiting and carried the child. She didn't know the person had tuberculosis. That was where trouble started for her baby. He eventually died.

Hubby's friend and wife came visiting and she was narrating how they have been in and out of hospital treating their infant of pneumonia. I simply asked if he was given the pneumococcal vaccine, she said no.

My neighbour's toddler had chicken pox. 2wks now and they are still battling with it. The child is extremely sick now. I asked if she received the 2 doses of chicken pox vaccine, they said no. My son also had chicken pox early this year but then he had taken 1st dose of vaccine but was not old enough for 2nd dose. The effect was very mild with no single scars left on his body.

Lessons learnt:
1. Immunizations are very important for children.

2. Don't try to cut cost and leave out the important ones not given free of charge eg Rota, Pneumococcal, IPV, etc. It is cheaper to prevent an illness than to treat it. Besides, the stress of managing a sick child is something else. My son is 19 months old, he has never had any episode of stooling and vomiting. Even teething never gave issues, we wake up and find a new tooth.

3. The life of these children are worth more than any money we are saving. Be Wise!

My able captain feddy27 how are you and baby Fedora. Tell her my olaolu says hi.

I'm currently doing mixed feeding ie breastfeeding and formula because I wasn't producing enough milk at first and then my son eats a lot,. He can suck for hours and still won't get filled so I augment with formula. Sometimes I feel bad or less of a mother that I didnt do exclusive breast feeding. So my question is how do I combine the two to achieve maximum input? I would also like if mothers who have done or are doing mixed feeding like me to share their experience with first time moms like me.

Comtem2011, yes it has been discussed but don't know the page. It think the talk was to bite back to drive home the message. He will understand that if he bites you will bite back.
It had been working for me. I tell my son if he bites or beats me, I will do same too. I also follow with my threat if he does goes ahead to do it.
It might be crude but it works for me.
Take care ma.

My darling teamie, good to hear from you. Fedora is fine, my love to olaolu.

Sweetie, don't beat urself or feel less of a mother cos of EBF. I'm also doin mixed feeding and dat has been my decision for both babies. There is no medal for EBF! For combination, I feed formula at least 3xs a day. In the morning, after bathtime I give formula so she can sleep for long. Inbetween it's breastfeeding. Around 2-3, I give formula again, inbetween breastfeeding. Around 8-9pm b4 bedtime, I give formula. All tru the night, I do breastfeeding. The important thing is that baby is well fed.

I also have exactly the same feeding routine with you. The most important thing is to ensure that are babies feed well and they are healthy. There is no mother that is, less important than another. Every mother takes the best decision for their Los.
We should always be proud of ourselves because it takes a lot more than being pregnant and putting to bed to be a mother and we all are doing our best in that regard.

So congratulations to all the mothers in the house, I am so proud of us all. E hugs to you all.

Sebamed will work. It's the go-to line recommended by Dermatologists when there is a skin issue, no matter where.

Feddy27 you couldn't have said it any better.
I try to administer all vaccines, prevention they say is better than cure. I understand that some pple may not be able to afford it but there are some that can afford it but still feel it's unnecessary or find it hard to bring out that money just for one dose of injection but will buy all the plenty plenty baffing up things for their babies to maintain status. Anyways, sometimes it's just ignorance. I remember my first son had chicken pox even after taking the vaccine but it was very mild and didn't leave any scare. I was seriously doubting if na fake vaccine they gave him lol.

--How about buying that 2k baby bath set instead of that foreign one of 12k thereabout.

-- how about buying normal 3k christianing gown instead of that posh 10k gown that the baby will wear and outgrow in a month tym.
I can go on and on.
We can be saving small small money even if it's 1k, 2k weekly, before the next immunization is due, the money would have been complete just incase DH starts telling you story on the day of immunization if you request for the money.

Lol one woman in church asked me why I'm not doing ebf for my baby. I found the question so rude!

She was like, are you working?

And in my mind I was like, even if i'm not working, what's your business what I feed my baby?

It's all these kind of people putting pressure on our sisters who for some reason or another are unable to ebf.

You don't ask a person you don't know stuff like that! You don't know where the person is coming from or what struggles the person has faced.

In short, that day I was kind of speechless so I just smiled and said its work. Ara babu the next person who asks me such. I will so tell the person off regardless of age!

You are welcome dear. But you have to learn to give befitting response if cannot ignore such questions. The truth is that you do not owe anyone any explanation on what and how you feed your baby(except your Dh).
For example, when people ask me whether I do EBF, my response always is that I breast feed him, case close.
So dear, your concern should be how to take care of your baby so that he/she grows up to tell you that you are the best mum in the whole world. That is what matters the most.
