Hi KeishSunshine, Congrats and thanks for this valuable info. Please can you give us details of the hospital and doctor you used. I intend having my baby in Toronto and I'm yet to get an affordable hospital and Doctor's contact. KeishSunshine: 3 Likes |

rolorolo: Hello Rolorolo, My doctor did. So all the tests that i did which were recent he didn't make me do again. I really can't recall them all but those I remember are - PCV, FBC, Blood Sugar, HIV, he wanted some vaginal tests which i hadn't done so i had to do it, very recent scan of the baby. Just get a medical report containing all those if possible a day before you travel. All the best. 1 Like 1 Share |

My "purpose of travel" letter had a lot of personal details, but there is a guide on what should be on the letter on the CIC website. The following points can also help though: 1) Who you are (your name and what you do) 2) Where you want to travel to and places you will visit 3) The duration of your stay (specific dates e. g 22nd Nov, 2016 to 30th Dec, 2016) 4) Travel history (if you have done other international travels before, if u have not, then no need for this point) 5) Where will you be staying (Address of the host or hotel to be used) - include proof of hotel booking for the stated period of stay or letter of invitation from your host. The evidence will have the address, so no need to include here, but you can if you want to. there is no particular standard for the letter. 6) How much do you have for the trip or intended travel plan (include proof of funds e.g bank statements, FD certificates etc. 7)Home ties (My family is not travelling with me, so I stated that my hubby and kids back home are my home ties, including my parents. Also stated that we have landed properties and included title deeds etc. ) Please note, I decided to do all of these so that I can prove all my points, not that it is compulsory. You could have other things to prove your home ties, I think its important. I had letter from my employer that I will be on vacation for that period and that I will definitely be returning to work. ( I also included payslips, promotion letter, all I could to make my letter persuasive. lols. Some where in the letter I stated that I would be having my baby there and then included my personal medical story which is why i want to have the baby in Canada. - (details cannot be stated here) and I also included a medical report from my hospital. (Like I said, this is not a standard requirement) EVERYTHING I SAID WAS TRUE and I provided documentary evidence for all my claims where necessary. I guess my purpose of travel was persuasive, so try and make yours persuasive but not beggary. You don't need to liquidate your fixed deposit, its a short term investment, so its not a problem, but also include your bank statement, maybe they will want to see the movement in your accounts for a certain period (3 months). I hope this helps. iphiechuks: 7 Likes 2 Shares |

I'm new here and have read ALL 39 pages!! Well done to everyone who has contributed to this helpful thread and God bless all those who keep coming back to provide more answers and insights - Hotstepper & co. I have a few questions which have not yet been asked here: -I already have a visa from a while back and I intend to travel at 28 weeks. Since I will be there early, I will likely need a number of hospital/doctor visits for antenatal care before delivery. How have others accessed antenatal care? And what are the costs? - Once baby is born, what other costs do you incur for immunizations etc. if you plan to remain in Canada for at least 6 weeks. -Hotstepper mentioned that Montreal POE is tougher than other cities? Could you please elaborate and advise? I will be going to Montreal. I look forward to sharing my experience and costs breakdown when it's all over |

@Virt Thnks alot for your contribution and response. God Bless you. my concerns are I don't have any medical record to present as I did not present any when I got my USA visa to birth my son in the US. Should I just state on the letter that I am going for family Visit and birthing purpose among other things without providing medical report for that. Abeg no vex ooo, I just need to get it right. |
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Virt: 3:18pm On Nov 24, 2016 |
iphiechuks: Like I said, there is no standard requirement in that regard, I chose to provide that because of what I stated in my letter. I don't know what you have stated in your letter and whether it requires any form of documentary evidence or not. I did not read anywhere that one must provide a medical report, I just did that based on my own discretion. I really cant say what the VO would want to see, but ensure you provide every other standard requirements. Other evidences outside the CIC requirements are just jara. 1 Like |

hello all, it was a lot to read but finally completed reading the posts. I have some questions. 1) this one is stated roughly but I just want to be sure. I have contacted with a hospital and doctor but don't know any family doctor. What should I do when arrive to Toronto? Can I simply walk to a family doctor and ask to redirected to my hospital? How dı I find a family doctor? 2) Does the guarantor for the passport need to live in Canada? I have a friend with a Canada passport living in abroad. Does she simply sign the passport papers? Does she need to be in Canada or will they only call her? Thanks! 1 Like |

Good day all. I cherish the way help is rendered from this forum. I have been a silent follower of this great forum because I have nursed the ambition of giving birth in Canada. I have serious issues I need to be advices on 1. Do I state categorically clear that I am going to give birth as my reason for travelling 2. Which of the application process is faster for visa processing ( online or paper) 3. Do paper application submission comes with capturing of biometrics immediately or would they call for it later? 4. I tend to travel with my hubby for the delivery but his work schedule takes him away from naija in a way that he works 6weeks away from the country and 3weeks vacation during which he comes back. Can his work schedule hinder the application process especially when we are called for biometrics. 5. Do the Canadian embassy run an expidiated visa processing Pls kindly help a sister to make informed decision. |

Hello all. I have read this thread thoroughly. I am interested in my wife birthing in Canada. She's 4 months already and her EDD is sometime in June. I've heard about medicals thing and all that. We have a son that will be 2yrs in January but I was thinking of planning a holiday with myself,my son and my wife. My question is when is the best time to apply so we can be there on time before she births and that will not raise suspicions at the airport |

Hello Hotstepper. Pls I am interested in my wife giving birth in Canada. We applied for visit visa to the USA and we were denied visa. Now I'm looking at Canada. Though I have a relative offering to give me an invitation letter to Canada but I want to try on my own. We have a son already that is 2 yrs old and my wife is about 14 weeks gone, but I want to do everything on time. Note also,I'm in the pool for express entry for PR so I really want to be sincere about everything. And I see this as a chance to reduce the cumbersome worries of filing for the child if peradventure we birth before getting PR mel01: |

Hello everyone. If I were to have a child outside Nigeria, I would have my kid in Canada. It seems pretty straightforward. Submit application and wait for X Months (where X = Number of months it takes, depending on traffic) + All the documents + No interview If you want to have you kid, in Canada, have them now while the liberals are still in power. The trump effect is already taking effect in the US of A. #Shalom Note: Correct me, If I'm wrong, you state you intent to give birth at the P.O.E? or in the form? |
