Foreveryours201:The house inspection is only compulsory where you cannot get a letter from your landlord confirming that the house is suitable for the both of you among other things the letter should contain. I recommend you all join the facebook group"I love my foreign Spouse". They are more knowledgeable in all this and helped me. Lot during my application. Some information given on this naira land page are not entirely the way I is or could have been better. |

I intend to Apply for the settlement visa in January. What documents do I show here at the VAC as I intend to send to my wife all my original documents such as birth certificate, MSC degree, TB certificate to add to her own supporting documents to Sheffield. Will they request for these documents here in Nigeria? Thank you |

Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 3:39pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Gbolaboy: Who then pays for the postage ? Hence self addressed paid for envelope......... NB: Send a self addressed paid for envelope, include a short letter and your application reference........... |

Gbolaboy: My friend was contacted to send an SAE after the decision, so I'll advise to wait until they get in touch, then if you haven't had any contact at that point, email them and they will give you instructions where to send the SAE.. Since, you included the envelope, I'm pretty sure they'll get in touch to ask you to send a another prepaid envelope |

Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Foreveryours201: 9:14am On Nov 22, 2016 |
tosine: From what I remember. You need to submit at the VAC: Your passport Your printed and signed application form (make 2 copies and send 1 to your wife) TB certificate original (make 2 photocopies-send one copy to your wife) Send your MSC cert to your wife tell her to make 2 copies, she should send the original and photocopy (I'm assuming your MSC was done in UK?) VAF2 Appendix 2 form (can't remember if they took this, but make a copy either way). To be honest they will take what they need because they returned some documents back to my husband. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by tosine: 10:47am On Nov 22, 2016 |
Thanks for the reply. MSC was in the UK. Foreveryours201: |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Foreveryours201: 10:58am On Nov 22, 2016 |
tosine: ok. So you meet the English language requirements. Make sure you mention this in your application, that you are exempt because you studied so and so at so and so University in the UK. The thing to remember is, whatever documents you want returning back to you, please photocopy them. I know my husband's TB cert was sent back to him at the VAC. However, it's not unheard of for these people losing documents or forgetting to return documents back, so always make 2 copies, 1 to send with original and 1 to keep on file at home. |

Goodmorning everyone, Pls guys, I have been following this trend for a long time now and I'm so happy about what you guys are doing here. I guess you all are doing a great job here. However, I have a bad news and I urgently need your assistance right now. I collected my passport yesterday but unfortunately, it was a refusal. Here is a copy of the refusal letter REFUSAL OF ENTRY CLEARANCE Post referance :***** To:******** Date of birth:****** THE DECISION Suitability Entry Clearance Requirements.......................Met Relationship Requirements..........................................Met Financial Requirement: Your Sponsor is not exempt from financial requirements as defined paragraph E-ECP.3.3. I am not able to take into account any potential employment you have available to you in the UK or any offers of financial support from third parties. In order to meet the 18600pds per annum. You provide documents regarding your sponsor's employment as a health worker with ******* where her annual salary is 17,544.00. Your sponsor has worked there for over 6 months. You state that she also works at ****** but I note that the employment has ended. Therefore, your sponsor's income is 17,544.00pds.In order to qualify, you and your sponsor require 18600pds (shortfall of 1056*2.5 +16000) in savings in order to meet the financial requirements. You have provided no evidence of that provided by sponsor continously for 6 month. I therefore refuse your application under paragraph EC-P1.1 (d) of Appendix FM of immigration Rules (E-ECP.3.1) English Language Requirement:You are not exempt from English language requirement under paragraph E-ECP. 4.2. In addition, you are not a national of a majority English speaking country listed in paragraph GEN1.6 and have not passed an English language test (A1 Level of Common European Framework) with a provider approved by UKBA and/or do not hold an academic qualification recognised by NARIC UK to be the equivalent to the standard of a Bachelor's or Master's degree or PhD in the UK, which was taught in English. You have provided an IELTS certificate but this does not contain a unique reference number used to verify the score using the IELTS SELT Consortium Online System. I therefore refuse your application under paragraph EC-P.1.1 (d) of Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules (E-ECP.4.1) However, my wife had two jobs which we included in my documents that we submitted. The first one is her permanent job with the Dene where she earns 17,544pds and also worked overtime which also reflected in her payslips that the visa officer refused to look at. Also she had another temporary job which is Agency that she uses to support her other job which has not also ended. But because we collected a letter from them which stated the date she started with them and the date she did her last work with them, the visa officer had to consider it that the job had ended. More so, I wrote an IELTS exam on March, 2016 which was conducted by the British Council in Nigeria where I scored 6.0 in my Listening 4.0 in my reading, 6.5 in my writing and 7.5 in my speaking and there was a link before the certificate to verify it online but the visa officer said it does not have a unique number on it. Pls do I have any chances in my appeal to overturn this decision? Pls all the gurus in the house and other ppl in the house, I urgently need your advise |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 5:07pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
cruzmaxi9000: - Did you mention potential job offers in your application or financial support from 3rd parties ? - The letter you submitted to support your application from the second employer, was your undoing. The moment you read the letter(prior to submission) and not happy with the wording, you could have asked them to correct. Did your wife tell them the purpose of the letter ? - Did your test have a unique number ? NB: If all the shortfalls can be corrected, you might win you appeal. But expect a very very long wait(over a year) and a £500 bill. |

cruzmaxi9000:About your IELTS,was it a UKVI Ielts or a regular one.I think the VO was mentioning that it wasnt a UKVI IELTS |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by cruzmaxi9000: 6:47pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Lexusgs430: Thanks for your prompt response Lexusgs430. I did not mention any potential job offers or any support from third parties in my application rather I only mentioned that I would love to go into care jobs when I get there but I had not made any arrangements on any job over there so far. - My test certificate does not have a unique number but it has a web link for verification on it (http;//ielts.ucles.org.uk). - What if I ask my wife to go back and ask them to give them another letter showing that she is still with them even till now? |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by cruzmaxi9000: 6:54pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Monspubis:Thanks for your response. It is a regular one and I used it to apply on the 30th of August, 2016. Is there still any chance of getting the decision overturned in the appeal? |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 6:59pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
cruzmaxi9000: - Get your wife to request a letter from her part time employment/employer, and they should word it accordingly - Your seeking a job and industry of choice, is a giving. You have no recourse to public funds (not unless you want to remain a house husband). They simply use that as another flimsy excuse. If you want to work in the care industry, use that has a stepping stone into Mental Health Nursing or Adult Medicine. - Send the test center an email and request a unique reference number. Remember that the UKBA crew are so lazy and cannot start verifying details for you. You are expected to bake the cake properly and lay it on their table (not forgetting the coffee 2 sugar)............ NB: in essence, all the aspects you were rejected on, get them all reversed................................ |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 7:03pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
cruzmaxi9000: It can be overturned at appeal, if all the i's are dotted and the t's crossed. But expect a very long appeal hearing date. |

Hello squad, I have been frantically reading through these pages for the last few days. It's crazy what you guys are doing here and commend the time and effort you put in even with the repetitive questions. I started reading from 2014 if I am being honest and gained so much through the pages. Cliché thing to say but I wish I found this page earlier. Origin story... March 2013 I'm British and met my African Queen in NYSC camp Oyo state. We started dating a few months after Sept 2014 Unofficially proposed (without ring) Sept 2014 Returned to the UK April 2016 Officially proposed (with ring) April 2016 Registry wedding in Nigeria Oct 2016 Applied for settlement visa (Non priority) with a lawyer 28 Oct Biometrics done in Ikeja 1 Nov 2016 Email from UKIV application has been received in Sheffield Waiting game now… Just got back from Nigeria for traditional and church wedding. The guy at biometrics told my wife 2 weeks. We were so excited until we realised he was wrong. I think he thought it was visiting visa. Our application is pretty straight forward but my only fear is lack of communication and pictures through changing phones and the fact that we had no idea that we would actually need all this information. We have a lot of communication from 2016 but little from 2013 onwards but lawyer put that in cover letter. Other than that I don’t have any questions but just want an outlet to vent my frustration and angst. I can cope with the waiting to an extent but thinking of my wife there is what makes it worse. Will keep reading and updating. Please can anyone that did the visa in the last few months put their timelines on as there is a lack of timelines in the group to encourage us. |

Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Monspubis: 8:52pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
cruzmaxi9000:Unique reference number only appears on UKVI iELTs not d regular ielts. You may have to take the UKVI iELTs.They recently stopped accepting the regular IElts for immigration. The SELTS centres are the approved UKVI centres for the new UKVi iELTs.It has another number(unique reference number) apart from the TRF number. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Monspubis: 8:58pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
cruzmaxi9000:The message from the VO is that your IELTS is the regular one. They stopped accepting that and now only accept iELTs done at SELTS centres(unless your regular IELTS was done before 30April 2015) I.e UKVI IELTS. It's basically d same exam but it's monitored with cameras and d exams are recorded. Your certificate should have the unique UKVI number if it's from approved selt centres and that's wat d VO was talking about. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 9:14pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Monspubis: At the point of requesting a unique number, if the exam he sat was outdated, he would be duly informed. And hopefully they would advice on the best route of action |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 9:22pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Darcy16: We wish you good luck with this application. You omitted vital details from your application. They might use the usual subsisting excuse. Hope for the best.............................. Your Lawyer should know better and advised you to submit the communication trail, pictures and everything in between............. |

Darcy16: I wish I had known about this forum earlier before I made my application too but hey, I made it the best way I could already... I'm sure I will be fine with the way I packaged it. Secondly, I made my application in the last few months (since June 23rd to be precised). By July I received the documents receipt email from UkVI, I received another email from them around august saying that my appendix 2 (the other form you submit at the VAC was missing) was missing-had to resend a fresh one to Sheffield. Early September, I received another email saying that the processing of my application is not straightforward hence it could take longer than normal to make a Decision on my application.... And that was the last message received from them.... Although they called my wife and her employer that same September (ending) to make verifications I guess. After the last call to my wife, they assured her that they are done with the calling and other verifications and that the next thing is to make a decision on my application but I haven't heard anything from them ever since then.. neither has my wife. Sorry for the long story but that's my timeline so I'm just waiting patiently to hear from them. Infact I was surprised to hear that one guy with the account name @cruzmaxi9000 got a decision so fast.. he said he submitted in Oct and already a decision had been made in November. #SurpriseSurprise |
