HELLO HOUSE!!!! Can one apply for a canadian university
with combined NECO, i.e 2 NECO results?? PLEASE I
NEED AN URGENT RESPONSE
i don't think anyone here might be able to give you a correct answer, go to the school's website and mail the undergraduate coordinator or secretary, you should be able to get first hand info which of course can be trusted
But seriously i never knew NECO was still existing sha? Why not use the conventional WAEC/GCE which is internationally recognized, i don't know abt NECO but u should be able to get schs that will accept it, check the website of each and every sch u feel like applying to then eliminate those that do not accept it. Just get ready for a little research infact prepare a template and mail all undergraduate cordinators of schs in canada

CannyZionist:
My good people of Nairaland, the gurus and ogas with enough swag and sagacity
I humbly wish to list the documents i submitted

Lets go there....
1. All CIC forms
2. Study Permit Checklist
3. MEng Offer letter (Unconditional and didn't pay any fee as it was not a requirement)
4. International Passport (with expired and renewed Two years UK visas, have been to the UK twice)
5. Bachelor degree cert, Transcript and WAEC cert
6. Upfront Medical Sheet
7. 2 Statements of account with total closing balance of 20m+ (I am self sponsor)
8. Pension Account Statement
9. Bank of America Corporate Credit Card Statements (To prove a funny case I had with UK VO)
10. Employment letter and pay raise letters (no intro letter or whatsoever from employer)
11. TOEFL
12. Birth and LGA of origin certs
13. Mum and siblings birth certs and affidavits
14. Dad's death cert
15. Share certificates from three different coys
16. CV
17. Tax clearance certificate
18. Work ID card
I think that is all. I didn't include any landed documents

NB: I have two offers; from Regina and Concordia and I don't know which one to choose. Regina offer came with Coop, while Concordia is without Coop ( I already have my CAQ from Quebec Govt). I am a bit skeptical about going to Montreal, Quebec due to French language requirement, though the program is in English. Another thing is I applied for MASc in Concordia but was given MEng, with the option to switch to MASc when they can secure a supervisor for me. The supervisor I contacted told me my background and training is well along his research activities but was not hiring students as at then.

Gurus in the house can please assist in weighing my options...Thanks you my people and may all TRV hopefuls be granted their heart desires..Amen

Hi, I have a friend who is schooling in Montreal, she complains that getting a job is a challenge because employers often require that you should be bilingual(French and English), even part time jobs that students take up for up keep require French. That being said, it is not as if there are no jobs that do not require French o, nothing is impossible, she still managed to find a job as a sales rep and call centre agent in some semesters. For post grad work you can get a job outside Montreal so if you don't necessarily need a job to survive in school (i.e if you have enough funds) you will be fine.

Concerning Regina, I personally find courses with coop attractive because it is an opportunity to make money (sometimes money good enough to pay a good amount of your tuition, depending on the duration of your coop and the company ofcourse) and also to get your foot into a company for full time postgrad employment without much hassle. I must add that the process for getting a coop is almost like a getting a job o, interviews and all those annoying things that come with seeking employment but it is not a big deal.

I greet all the gurus in the house. Thanks for your wonderful contributions..

Can I use both my Bsc Pol Sci and masters in HR related course with 3yrs work experience in HR (all in Nigeria) to apply for admission into a Masters programme in Canada (MUN to be precise)?

Will my Masters cert here in Nigeria and experience boost my chances of admission if I include reasons like international exposure, global standard practice knowledge and easy gateway to seek offer to further my PhD.

Note: my reason for wanting to add this cert is am not sure only my bsc grade of 2.2 and employment history will be enough for the admission. And I don't think I can finance any course that is more than 1yr.

Please candid suggestions are needed my people

Occupation should be ''Student'' nah what else.. On the current activity section ''leave it blank'' since you are not doing anything for now because the gap between when you finished your School/NYSC to applying for study permit isnt more than a year, yours is just 6months, but put whatever you did in your NYSC as your previous occupation.. hope it helps.

Tanx alot @Igbouwanile

Wow! I'm new here.
Please, how have you guys been successfully securing the attention of supervisors? Do you call or just the regular email.
Are there other things I should know about securing or contacting a supervisor?

Let me know please. I am commencing my 2017 Fall application next month. Thank you!

Search on your school website the Prof who share similar research interest with you. Mail him/her and in the mail, you write an exposition about your intended research work and also attach your student copy of transcript in the mail, then request him/her to be your supervisor. Wait for his/her response. If no email response, call him. Try to be friendly and official in your conversation.

You have to confirm the admission requirements first.
As at last year during my application, you will only be required to write English test if the language of instruction in your undergraduate program is not English or your or your transcripts Is not written in English, then you may be required to provide a test of English result. Major schools in Canada waive English proficiency test go Nigerians.

THANK YOU SIR.....I won't be applying as an undergrad. I'm just concerned if it would affect my M.A pursuit when uploading my degree and other docs.

Hey bro, what you need to do is first identify the school and program you intend to study, check their requirements and possibly, ask the admisson office abt any enquiry. As at the time you'll be ask to upload/send your doc for review, they will determine your eligibilty for the program of your choice. Different schools have different requirements. I think you will be fine. Just start doing some useful research.

THANK YOU SIR......i want to apply for M.A, so i was wondering if it would be feasible while uploading my degree and other docs

dat ur "sir" made me feel like an old man, i am only a young guy.
I see no correlation btw masters and NECO, you only need to upload certificates and transcripts from all post-secondary institutions so forget abt all those WAEC/GCE/NECO/JAMB stuffs except you were the best in jamb and need to prove it to ur supervisor by sending ur result to him privately, i am pretty sure the university has no use for that.
