Fresh investigations into the activities of the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has revealed how he reportedly spent workers’ funds saved under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The Governor reportedly expended the savings during the year and failed to return the money.

It was gathered that after repeated efforts by state civil service unions to get a refund of the spent money, the governor threatened to sack those who confronted him.

He said that the state was broke due to poor budgetary allocation and not because of fraud.

Recalls that the Governor recently, during a protest in Abeokuta, the state capital used harsh words on the public servants, describing them as ‘brainless for leading a protest.’

Days after the incident which was followed by a repeat protest, the governor sacked about five union leaders and suspended other junior members of staff for insubordination.

A reliable state source in the loop, who spoke under condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak on the issue as a civil servant exposed how the governor also brought ethnicity into the state civil service.

He accused the governor of appointing a professor from the University of Ibadan, who also hailed from Owu as Rector of the Ogun State Polytechnic.

Describing the governor as being arrogant and saucy, he said the he was insensitive to plight of the masses.

The source wondered why a governor would stoop ‘so low to abusing his public servants without considering any diplomatic strategy to addressing the situation.’

“He’s not helping things by being vindictive and wicked. He takes joy in sacking workers at will. Recall the sack of some teachers simply because they set exam questions which he thought were against his administration.

“It wasn’t non-payment of salaries alone that many are unhappy about. There is also non-remittance of deductions from workers’ salaries. Those deductions were meant for the worker’s payment of the contributory pension scheme, some to go to worker’s co-operative and thrift societies.

“These are legitimate earnings of the workers. The non-remittance has resulted in workers’ cooperative societies not having money to give out as loans to members! These deductions were continuously taken by government for over one year without remittance thereby making it impossible for workers to do any meaningful projects.”

Speaking further, he said, the governor is, “very wicked and inconsiderate. I remember late last year when he invited about four or five permanent secretaries and informed them he was going to retire them. When they asked him if they had committed any offence, he said no, that he only wanted to appoint new people!

“He has always been promising to pay the monies diverted. That’s why the workers got fed up with his lies and went on strike. Do you know he graduated HND from MAPOLY? Up till now he has not done anything appreciable for the school. The road to the ‘poly’ is in a bad shape but that is not his concern. As a matter of fact, he has never identified with the poly which was the ladder to his present position in life

“As it is, the workers are hell bent on getting their money. Recently a professor from University of Ibadan was brought by the governor as rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic without an interview.”

Newsmen could not independently verify the claims but a source close to the governor who would not like to be quoted as he is not authorized to speak said the allegations were all tissues of lies and should be discountenanced as such.

He noted that the governor has always striven to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people despite the limited resources available to state coffers.

Everyone living in Ogun State especially Abeokuta knows that the governor is a thief.
Just using state's money to build house for himself and shopping mall for his wife.
